I was there and this guy played his ass off. For those of you criticizing, this guy had the most uptempo track to play over out of everyone. What did you expect him to do? Hold a note for 8 measures?
You are forever missed Gee, you are and always were one of a kind... I wish I had been there more before you left us but I will always treasure the times we had... This world will never be complete without you here. I hope you have found peace you deserve that and so much more I love you dear friend I can't hold back the tears truthfully your friend Jessica...
No doubt--I've watched them all and he is by far the most technically accomplished and fluid. One of the previous comments bemoaned the lack of tempo change and the near-constant flow of fast picking but that song requires that style. Bravo G!
Wow, i have never in my life seen such jealousy. Did anyone think about what type of mic they were using to record this? Is it possible that the tone sounded differently live in the venue? I had the pleasure of meeting Golan last night. He is our new lead guitar player. He is the most humble guy you will ever meet not to mention just a down to earth person. He brought over one of his guitars ('59 Les Paul RI) not the guitar they made he use for the contest. He played through my old Marshall Plexi and the tone was amazing. Don't judge someone by one performance especially when you are required to use gear provided by some corporation. Lastly, how many of you "Rock stars" making negative comments have shared the stage with Joe? Crickets....
@@viol3t112 I just stumbled onto your comment. I’m sure you’re aware that your brother was / is adored by many guitar players here on UA-cam. I still watch his videos all the time. He was such a wonderful player and seemed very genuine, thoughtful, and intelligent. I also play the slash style and I can tell you that he is many guy’s favorite player of this style. ❤️👍🏼
This guy is just amazing. People criticising him: just send your own vidéo or enter the king of the blues challenge and do better! Lots of virtuosos and rock critics can be found behind a computer keyboard, but hand them an instrument and just watch what happens (nothing) :)
I just found out today G sharp passed away... a lot of the comments say this guy isn't playing Blues but i disagree... I wouldn't call Joe's solo on the album or in his live shows over this particular song Blues either but it's very up-tempo.. I'm glad he didn't play with 5 notes of the pentatonic over and over.... No disrespect to the winner or other contestants but he should have won this contest... he was miles above the rest...R.I.P brother....
This guy was a great player and teacher. Played the “slash style” but if you watch enough of his videos you can tell he was into rock and blues more generally. Could rip the legato thing in that slash way but he did have feel and good phrasing too. Miss this guy, one of my favorite players.
as a slash true fan. i hear slash really... his style of playing, licks, the repeating of notes, he sounds as slash live but less gain and less treble, appearance, and most important the guitar. if this is a hard rock solo challenge he should won.
What ?! G sharp was gone!?!?!? noway.................he almost over 1 year not send the new video......i can not belive that......it`s so so sad ..............
Anyone else notice that this man obviously loves Slash? He has the same stage presence style as him, same little leather guitar strap, Les Paul, and same melodic rock structure playing.
Holy cow this guy is fantastic. If he had opened up his tone a bit and left a little space here and there, he would have pulled it off. Great player! All of the finalists were great, enjoyed the hell out of all their playing.
Every guitarist has his or her own personal sound, but its obvious this guy has been trying to get that unique Slash sound. He got it off pretty well too
And before anyone starts, I'm not a hater- I'm simply giving constructive criticism. Any real musician would want to know what his audience thinks about his music.
I have to say that I think a lot more of these guys would get a way better reaction if they used a bluesy tone. Of course that kind of tone also makes you want to play differently with different phrasing but I think hearing any kind of blues band with that kind of lead guitar gives people the wrong impression. If he had it dialed down to Joe's tone then who know how great this could sound.
Killer player, his tone was surprisingly thin for a les paul though... Also if there was a rock version of this competition there wouldn't be so many people bitching about how little feeling some players have IMO.
There is no doubt that this guy is just on fire and a great player but I think what he should have done is shared the lead with Joe B. right after the first harmony break in the song. He should have let Joe go and then followed it up with his own lead again. If I was playing with Joe B standing beside me, I would just be at the top of the world. I've been playing for 35 yrs and it would still be a challenge to do a good job of it.
Is it just me, or do the majority of these guys in the finals have a very thin, horribly distorted, non-blues tone?! Whatever happened to just some good ol' natural overdrive?
Yeah the tones are terrible. But I mean, a lot of that comes from your fingers too. None of the players I've watched so far have had great tone OR feel…you can watch Bonamassa playing one of the riffs with him at the same time and it's like night and day the way his notes come alive compared to the shredder.
it's like Slash trying to play Malmsteen over a Bonamassa backing track. I didn't get any feel at all from this. just a lot of notes that fits the chordprogression.
RIP Golan ‘Gsharp’ Eini. Man, I’m devastated ☹️☹️
surrealfx how’d he die?
¿?
In car crash :(
D G really? So sad. He was such a cool guy too. Rest in peace G ✌️
Ian Coggeshall hey, sorry I didn’t see you had asked me this.

Saw all the finalists live that night - G Sharp gave an original, stellar performance!
Golan is one of the top 20 best guitarist out there.
Cheers Mate!

Joe Bonamassa playing rhythm guitar. iii wow!!!
Like they say... If you have haters, you're doing something right. G is the man and can outplay most of you in his sleep.
Agreed

as a slash true fan. i hear slash really... his style of playing, licks, the repeating of notes, he sounds as slash live but less gain and less treble, appearance, and most important the guitar. if this is a hard rock solo challenge he should won.

Anyone else notice that this man obviously loves Slash? He has the same stage presence style as him, same little leather guitar strap, Les Paul, and same melodic rock structure playing.
it speaks to me
Holy cow this guy is fantastic.

What amp is he using. Man... That tone!
And before anyone starts, I'm not a hater- I'm simply giving constructive criticism. Any real musician would want to know what his audience thinks about his music.
Better than Joe Bonamassa 😮 YA that's right❤ G#
damn he is good!!!!!
To Golan: USE PAUSES. Otherwise fine.
Agreed. Phrasing is what separates the men from the boys.
Solid performance, blew the other guys out of the water IMO
wow! slash plays the blues! :)
In fact he looks very similar to slash from some camera perspectives^^
slash imposter?
Which signature edition LP is he using?
What a SLASH????
"Smells like Slash spirit"

It's Bonamassa's signature guitar so I guess it's not signed by Slash. ;)
He even uses the same strap that Slash uses
עלק טורונטו... ישראלי קלאסי

a Bonamassa, appropriate no?
Is it just me, or do the majority of these guys in the finals have a very thin, horribly distorted, non-blues tone?! Whatever happened to just some good ol' natural overdrive?

This guy is heavily influenced by slash, i wanna see him win !
Slash brother
it's like Slash trying to play Malmsteen over a Bonamassa backing track. I didn't get any feel at all from this. just a lot of notes that fits the chordprogression.
I don't think the name of the game is play as many notes as you can in 3 minutes
I think we all agree this guy is good but I agree with cuts. He needs to let it the song breath.
In one of his videos, he talks about how joes playing is just scales and non musical, and here he is on stage with him lol
0:45 Rhythm guitar player "kill me now..."
