'Is it a unicorn galloping down the street? No, these are soldiers' boots marching to the beat!' It's really frustrating they haven't fixed the lyrics on that website, they have been wrong since the album came out :( When Macro came out, I fell in love with this song the most, although I thought it would likely not get a video because it was the (for lack of a better word) wackiest of them and with other bands I like this is usually the case, how happy I am I was wrong! I'm from Bulgaria and this sound of jazz/lounge music is the most popular representation of the style to this day among local performers as it was one of the few Western influences that were condoned by the Socialist party (as in stolen and given to Bulgarian performers to dress as their own) when the country was a satellite of the USSR before the 90s. Thus, the song hits home (see what I did there XD ) on a lot of fronts (I promise, I'll stop). Thank you for the commentary and the reaction

I hear it as , Is it a unicorn galloping down the street? No , these are soldiers' boots marching to defeat. Unfortunately , those lines were omitted from my Macro CD lyric booklet. So , don't know for sure.

I think there's been a lot of misrepresented lyrics out there.
The law of balance can't be revoked
When the Earth is overwhelmed with you
      It will shake you off
      I reclaim my kingdom
'Cause your sun will never rise
      I reclaim my kingdom
Hope your sun will never rise again
      (Never rise again)
To me that speaks about God. Maybe it speaks about man but in my current thought it's about God and Jesus not rising again.
I think The Prophecy has wrong lyrics posted. I wondered about the wording of "your sun will never rise again" but when I saw the bands teaser/trailer for The Prophecy I saw it more as "your son will never rise again" which seems to correspond with the deep red imagery at the end of the video and with the short trailer video. Fitting that it follows on from their re-take of the old bible fable about Noah and the Ark. In two songs, the bible is re-written. The Ark sinks and Jesus will never rise again...
If that's the case, how big are Tatiana's balls?

@@Swampster70 I find a lot of shared lyrics and connections between songs beyond the obvious 'Dreadful moments' and 'Retrospection' which makes me think they are telling longers stories through multiple songs. 'Beggar's dance' shares lyrics with 'Words of Wisdom' , 'I speak astronomy' and 'Captain clock'; there is a connection between 'The Prophecy' and 'Ape'; I'm thinking there is a connection between 'Perennial' and 'Pausing Death'... They are building us a gorgeous metal opera

In addition to Brian Allee comment.
It's known that Eugene (bassist and manager) is a very attentive and responsive to the people who shares their thoughts about the band. He (as well as Tatiana) gave lots of interviews with those reactors who wanted to get it. Even with a few subscribers sometimes. May be you should just try to contact to them directly.

@@StickDastardly Great, good luck to you!
Once I watched some guy from Russia who talked about his plans to visit upcoming Jinjer's concert in St.Petersburg. This guy was just a common dude with a few dozen of subscribers, he didn't make any music reactions, his channel is about his life and about the tourism on the wild nature as far as I understand.
And in the next video few days later this dude said that unfortunately the upcoming concert will be canceled because of covid. And this news he got directly from Eugene. He watched the first video and contacted with this guy by himself, just to beware him to not spend his time and money to this event.
It's just as an example of how the band interacts with people.

██ Jinjer sing this song about theirselves.
They were resting outside the their naitive town of Gorlovka and heard a roar. And it turned out not to be a salute, but a war - Ukrainian troops came to kill the rebels. And Jinjer fled from their native town - in order to continue making music, and lost their home, to which they cannot return - because the war continues.

  • @EugenSoundStudio

The musicians come from the Ukrainian Donbass. With the outbreak of the war with Russia in 2014, they were forced to leave their homes, their relatives, and go away from this nightmare. This song is about personal experiences.
Here, in the comments below, someone mentioned that "Ukrainian troops came to kill the militias," but this is not at all the case. Russian troops invaded the territory of Ukraine, Russia organized and sponsored a separatist movement for the separation of Donbass from Ukraine (and earlier Russia annexed the Ukrainian Crimea). So in this case, the phrase should be "Ukrainian troops came to liberate Ukrainian land from separatists and Russian invaders." Well, in the light of the events of the last four months in Ukraine, it is simply a shame to talk about something like "Donbass militia".

Curious about your comments about the US not having to fear anything for the last 300 years. I guess you just blew right over the whole Cold War and the USSR being close, on several occasions, to bombing the snot out of the US and Western Europe - in a more severe way than the Russians did to the Ukraine (which is what part of this song is about). Cuban missile crisis as well as a few near miss false alarms on the 'early warning systems.' Growing up in the 70's in England the political commentary being that we were going to be nuked by the Russians (Iron Maiden's Two Minutes to Midnight was inspired by this). The cult classic movie Threads documents this.
This song is more about them coming back from tour and not being able to get home because of war. I believe the band moved Tatiana to Kiev to be safer.
As an English guy that moved to the US, I don't think we face the same fear here that the Ukrainians faced from Russia. Nowhere close. Yeah, we are in for social change which is due but we're not going to end up with the same situation we're listening too in this song. If the last decade is a template to go by, things will quiet down until about 9 months before the next election in 2024. Expect more riots and unrest at the end of 2023/start from 2024. Mark your calendar for that. People will want their shit heard then but for some reason they don't keep the fire burning all the time. Puzzles me. Saddens me. It doesn't shock me, that when we're seeing massive racism against people of Asian descent we don't get the same cries for equality. Eye witness news channel 7: today an old Asian man was attacked and later died and someone's dog went missing. Follow up story is on the dog.

Compared to citizens killing each other over political parties, hate crimes being ignored by the government, an attempt to overthrow the government over a lost election more racially motivated attacks than ever before, I'll gladly take a hundred more Cold Wars. If you're going to read into what I say, at least read it correctly.
That said, I absolutely agree about 2023/24. I'm not sure what part of the US you live in, but here in the south, the red/blue and black/white are both always very real. Moreso now, after this past 4 years

@@StickDastardly So you'll take the very real threat of mutually assured destruction with the deaths of 1 billion plus people with the very real threat of ending of humanity and decades long wars like Vietnam that killed somewhere between 1.5 and 4 million over 12 months of idiots marching in streets every 3 to 4 years? Jesus dude. Lay off the strong coffee when you read the morning news.
People killing each other over political parties happens the world over. It's nothing new - well, it's kinda new to the US in the modern age. It shouldn't happen but sadly it does. Look back in the history books where events like the Brooks-Baxter War that resulted in candidates gather militia to win via violence to the Dead Rabbits riots (which would be an ace name for a punk band no?) Of course you have the American Civil War. Violence and war within the US over politics isn't new. I learned about these in school in England many years ago - sadly from what I saw from my daughters history notes (I moved to the US in 99 a few years before my youngest was born) the events of the past are not taught in the same depth. Today it would seem, they're taught more how to make others feel happy which is all well and good but then you run into the same risk of the great unlearned - and history repeats itself and the same crap that happened before happens again - just like the folks back in 1918 getting pissed off about wearing masks and social distancing and several waves of the Spanish Flu killing more people than it really should have.
Around 200 years ago, the British re-invaded the US, captured Washington DC and burned down the White House. Nothing to fear there, aye?
An attempt to overthrow the government wasn't what really happened at the Capitol. 300 people, about 250 would run away when shit got real, doesn't amount to a coup. How could so called Republican/Trump supporters overthrow the government when Trump was still in power? They stormed the building to try, at best, to delay the verification of the electoral college vote. A change was never going to happen and to believe it would is wishful thinking at best. That said, I hope those involved in their scheme of delusional grandeur get the book thrown at them in court and get a sentence that is disproportionality harsh and a deterrent to others. That people died on the day an election was certified should result in the maximum Federal sentence.
That said: It's not like a real coup such as Pinochet taking power in Chile, using fighter jets to bomb the palace of President Salvador Allende. Chileans remember September 11 for a different reason that the folks in the USA. In modern times you also have the likes of General Qaddafi taking power in Libia with a small army of about 70 military vehicles taking control of the country whilst the King was abroad. If that douche from Iced Earth flew an F15 in with missiles a blazing then yeah it would have been a valid coup - but with a can of pepper spray and a few dozen others yelling shit isn't quite in the same category - not even in the same ballpark. Actually, it's a whole different sport.
That the only two bombs that were found were outside the RNC office and the Democratic Party office is bizarre - why where they there and not at the Capitol if it really was an attempt to take over?
I'm a old school conservative at heart but don't share the venom of hard right and also the hard left. That everything seems to be about the extremes is sad. Politically, my low points were being caught up in the IRA bombing of Manchester in 96. It's a bit shit when you're out of a dozen or two brews on your birthday and some dick sets off a 3,000lb truck bomb resulting an cuts and a few stitches. A friend from University almost had his nephew killed in Warrington, also by the IRA, when they targeted women and children - an event that spawned the Cranberries' song Zombie. I now work in Oakland - and getting tangled up in the excuse to chuck bricks through windows riots and destroy shops last years also majorly sucked. For me, the BLM protests in town would have carried so much more weight and power if they'd been peaceful. We talk now about anti Asian American hate - but no-one talked back then about pretty much every store in Chinatown being trashed. Pretty much everywhere else was fine. Before BLM went to sleep it was the same in 2016 and it will no doubt be the same in 2023/24.
That said, back to the music. I listen to music for an escape, so it kinda irks me when politics and music become intertwined unless they are some very real shit like described in Jinjer's song Home Back.
