For anyone on the fence, can confirm, the obulb plus is absolutely where it is at. I've been moving it has been an absolute lifesaver in the house where not all the lighting fixtures have been set up. There's a dozen different places it has come in handy, from painting rooms to setting up closets.
I believe they sell a magnet hanger for the lights, but it either has a hook or a ring, not sure how you would connect it to the obulb. I have seen like an inexpensive 12" or so long silicone string(?) that had a cup on the bottom that for the obulb perfectly. but I didn't know they had different sizes of it until I watched this review. maybe they have one for the plus? I'm sure one could figure out how to attach it to a strong magnet, maybe a rare earth or neodymium magnet.
I love my MC75s. I remeber when the Pro came out and you couldnt access some of the features without the app. I liked using these while camping. In the tent and as a headlamp. I didnt want to mess around with my phone to change the settings. I'm not completely sold on the ProS. All though the soft white is perfectly fine, a daylight white would be nice for filming purposes. I also like quickly scrolling through 7 modes to green and red for at night so it wont destroy my night vision. Thank you for the in depth review.
For anyone on the fence about getting one of these, do it. Its so much more impressive in person. The wife and I, use it at night on our porch enjoying a beverage and it's so relaxing.
Hi Cheule, Thanks for the great review! Watching your vid really helped me make up my mind on getting one; I just received mine a couple days ago along with my patriotic, red, white and blue Oight i3 AAA flashlight. I really love them, and the Obulb plus has so many color options when I operate it with my iPhone. It is a great area light and nightlight
The batteries are non-user serviceable. That seems like a difficult law to pass, products like wireless earbuds practically mandate non-serviceability.
@@cheule thanks for the info. Shame . I'm quite a heavy user and have flashlights still working from my childhood. The only ones I've binned is my nitecire tubes . "European Parliament passed a change to a law that will force replaceable batteries on all gadgets, including smartphones." That will piss off apple. Depends on the definition of gadget I guess
Obulb looks awesome for a night stand. I wish it had a sunset function that slowly goes from white to yellow to orange then red. Would be cool. I really want one.
Anyone else having the battery drain issue? When they are off charge and turned off they are still losing battery when checking the battery percentage on the app? Also ran a run time test on two that I have and both have only lasted on the white high setting for 2 hours rather than the time stated on the box which adds up too 2hrs and 30 minutes.
There is a Bluetooth connection that stays open and uses power. After (I believe) 12 hours it goes into a sleep mode and shuts the connection. Then you have to physically wake it with a tap.
I would love to see a comparison between the obulb and the sofirn lt1s... they have some major differences and yet they are in the same "group " of lighting. *hint hint*😂 thanks for the video
I heard you say that you can set this up so when the battery percentage turns 20% you can set it to turn red. I've tried everything under the sun and still cannot get it to do it. Can you give me some info on this?
They need to update the app with more colour control and standard colour mixing functionality. I have the Pro S and it can adjust brightness with the underside button. I agree the top button is a much better design.
As far as the obulb pro s brightness goes. You can hold down the button to make it brighter or dimmer. He said you have to use the app. Go to the color you want just hold the button down and watch the brightness go up and down but I do love the obulb plus more.
These are interesting and when I saw the capacity they had of various colour changes, I bought a couple! That being said, the app is the key to building your own presets and it would be a great "nice to have" in an app update to offer customizable colour change speed, frequency, intensity, patterns, etc.
They still kind of expensive for what it is but I'll prolly buy a couple anyways. I got the original one and the one with the multi colors and use them almost daily.
“I clicked 5 times and now my Obulb only flashes when I click…. I read the manual and it looks like I’m stuck in momentary mode but I can’t figure out how to disconnect the battery.”
Maybe "better" than the Pro model, but changing the brightness using touch-control (without the app) is an absolute PITA: The ramp function kicks in way too fast, making it almost impossible to reach the desired brightness levels (except min/max, of course). It's also incredibly annoying that you can't really control whether the ramping should start going up - or down.
As an older Olight fan and advocate, I really wanted these Obulbs but they were out of stock. Then I picked up a LUX PRO LP1535 retro led lantern at a local shop and was extremely impressed. If you want a sturdy simple dimmable (5 to 265 lumens) light that is attractive, affordable, and very practical, then try the little LUX PRO. It uses AA batteries and runs continuously for nearly 3 weeks on low (warm ambient night light). Love it so much that I now have several (only $9.99 at Tractor Supply or $12.99 online).
The sale just went live in Canada and I ordered a bundle with one of these, a Perun mini 2 and a Marauder Mini. I can't freaking wait! I still use my obulb MC attached to my Olamp because the button makes way more sense. Being able to have that control on the obulb plus itself sounds amazing. I like a nice incandescent glow for a diffuse light source.
Look I'm Olight for LIFE but I wish they would have kept the motion option like what was on the MC. We still use our MC for a night light in our bathroom it sits on a MCA olight brick so it stays hot. When you walk in boom it gives you a little light but the new ones like the pro and the plus do not have this feature. I would love to have a little bit more light when I pee and putting the sensor mode on either one of these would have been a home run. I hope they put that feature back on new Obulb designs!!
dude just pee sitting down, its much nicer, just be careful if you have a shortcock that doesnt reach into the bowl, and you pee over the rim, however there are splashguards you can buy to prevent this
Olight have made a mess of the Obulbs, 4 different versions and 4 different UI's, I still like the original, smallest, best UI, simplistic and I can fit 4 on the Omino charger..... the Pro is a disaster
When people say they like the high cri LEDs they really mean tint in my experience. I don't know anyone that would prefer a neutral high cri led to a rosy non high cri. My armytek has an xhp50 I think and it's pretty warm white with an amazing tint. Looks better than most of my hanklights
The first flashlight to have an app to setup modes and sequencing mionlight levels mode memory etc got my money. Come on thats going to be the next big thing. You heard it here first
You should take a look at LuxRC 371d driver that is in Oveready BOSS flashlights. It has a web app that does just that-optically programs the mode groups and options.

I agree. One Obulb can definitely save you from darkness in a power outage as well.
I was going for the Pro but after seeing your vid I've changed my mind. Your enthusiasm for the product really 'shines' 😉through.
Lolz, the other lights at the end that you're a fan of, I've got them all except for the Marauder mini, that's on my 'must have' list. 😆
Are you going to do a review of the Obulb Pro S?
Looks good but the very first O bulbs were click on click off then they change it to click on hold off.
These are double click for off. Single click cycles modes.
can you review the PD 25R Fenix?
I recently got a storm shelter. It’s all metal and I’m curious if there is a magnet on this obulb like that’s on my edc light.

The mix comes with a metal object the size of a guitar pick with 3M tape on one side. It’s precisely so that you can hang your Obulb.

Very informative well done but you can change the dimming on the pro by holding the bottom.

Yes, those would be very cool functions!
They have a solid Sunset mode that is blue, pink, and orange. It's my most used preset.
This is the kind of futuristic stuff I want from the flashlight makers. It seems like a bit of a toy but fun for sure. And looks great
