When I was learning to play, I tried every bad habit brought up. Most I dropped pretty quick but I was a planter during solos for probably the first 2 years that I played. Once I quit planting, my lead playing improved considerably. Listen to Jen people. She knows what she's talking about.
I'm always happy to see the no-plant technique. I'm much better at fingerpicking than holding a pick anyway, and planting is so awkward and weird feeling. Thx for the validation!
Took a lot of mental notes. Duly noted. For a while, I was learning how to play without a pick, but now that I'm 100% sure how to hold it without any doubt about it thanks to you, I can be sure to develop that without having to worry about developing any bad pick-holding habits! Thanks, Jen!!! =D
Ive found my self from time to time using the three finger method but i play left handed and i don't have control over my other fingers to use them for my strumming hand. My favorite choice of pick is the cats tongue pick
