Hey guys this is my car, we have brought her in the shop for a downpipe and bigger turbo for even more power. There they found out i have a little boost leak. So when everything is fixed and the hybrid turbo and downpipe are mounted , we are going to do the 100-200 test again on my channel. I also bought dragy from autotopnl that day and my best legit 100-200 time i did myself is 25,4 seconds. You really have to redline the car😅
Of course we all love a high performance car. But since I’ve done the same thing with my audi a4 (basically change every aspect of a car), I can really appreciate people that make the most of what they have. I also tuned my car, completely swapped the interior (including headliner, steering wheel etc) and exterior (grille, exhaust, diffuser, wheels) and loved the thing to bits. It might never be as good as the original but at least you put the effort in yourself. Love to see stuff like this (especially when done well and thought has gone in to it).
With all that money put in it he could have bought a 125i or probably even a 135i so it's pretty stupid realy. I would kill myself if this was my car realy.
@@swansmeister it's not stupid, most people are just stupid and only think about the price of a car when they buy one. Not about roadtax, insurance, and maintaining it. Or when a part goes bad.... And after a year they realise they can't keep the car and sell it.... I have a lot of connections in the tuning world and i can get a lot of work and parts done at a much cheaper price than normal . That's why i decided to build this car, later on i'll buy a faster one. I have time, i'm only 23🤔

I love how Max is not impressed by 220hp in a small light car. Most people would be grabbing that door handle like crazy haha. Most modern cars are about 150kg heavier with around 70hp less.
I had a 116i N13 with 229hp & 317nm. It drove great, the engine likes it. This much tuning isn’t necessary (cool though). The only drawbacks are that the gearbox is calculated to 250nm and the stock exhaust has a 52mm(?) vs a 58mm (?) on the 118i. So if you tune the engine, consider those two things. That being said, mine did 0-100 in 6,6 sec and I think 24-26 sec for 100-200. If i remember correct 0-200 was little over 30sec. It was similar to a Cooper S automatic. More info: stock the engine already put out 150hp instead of 136hp and 250nm instead of 220nm. It’s tuning potential (as always) varies for each individual engine. Others could only get 210hp. I drove it on super 98 and it was tuned to it. And tuning it gets rid of that whistle blow on the turbo which sound a bit ridiculous on a 136hp car
@@LesicGTI Uhm, nope, raced a 120d with a tune and some mods and it was even an automatic, where as mine is manual but he really didn’t stand a chance, not in the 0-100 and not in the 100-200 plus I had a higher top speed as well. So don’t get your hopes up, sorry dude.
120i facelift had 177 ps (175 Bhp) and was available between 2015 and summer 2016. Then it was replaced by the mighty B48 2 litre engine 👍🏼 Fun fact: the old N13 120i had only one exhaust pipe, the B48 two...
correct. I think 118i and 120i both pre-lci and lci had upgraded engine parts compared to 114i and 116i. but all f20 engines respond well to 'some' tuning
This is a very gooood car for young modifiers. Good power for inexperienced. Fun to modify. Cheap to repair. The engine is capable of 260bhp stage 2 without building the engine. 114i SE cheaper than a 120 lci but you can make the 114 to a 120 for 116i money. Good option.

As always awesome content! Short edit: 4:37 - Only the 2015 model of the facelifted 120i had this engine (177hp). The 2016-2019 versions of the 120i had their engines swapped from the 1.6 N13 to the 2.0 B48 (184hp).
@@ben130i8 Yeah, it is a beauty, 06 model manual, 3 doors and it actually still has the original clutch installed after 180.000 kilometers! Only non stock parts are the short shifter and the aftermarket radio.
The base 114i has been heavily nerfed. It's almost sad that the base engine is only allowed to deliver 102 hp. In practice it delivers more than that, and is capable of much more.

The Belgian law doesn't actually say you can't put on bigger discs. That's because there's two laws that contradict each other. One law says that it's allowed to modify your car in such a way that it improves the road safety. Another law says that changing the braking system is not legal. As advice for Michiel, call your local vehicle inspection manager (keurchef) and ask them about it, they might interpret the laws one way and allow you to have bigger brakes. I know this can work because it's exactly what I did, went to my local inspection, told them about the upgrade, showed them the law and they were fine with it.
The LCI 120i has the 2L 4 cil turbocharged B48. The LCI 116i and the 118i have the B38 3cil turbocharged, the 118i with a bit more power. That engine is only from the pre-LCI 1 series
Well, HP is HP. No difference there. The quoted HP is only peak HP. It doesn't say much. It's about the power output throughout the whole rev range. If you look at a powergraph from a dyno you can see what I mean. A car with one big turbo will typically be very powerfull higher in the rev range, but doesn't do much down low. The same car but with sequential turbos (1 small, 1 bigger) can produce the same power but has more grunt down low and will be quicker overall.
You can get that power increase easily with the chiptuning alone without any of the physical mods. Have seen many examples without mods doing even more
I own a 116i with the same engine. Makes 205,1 whp and 330nm of torque. Great starters car. Only problems are the timing chain and the clutch which both have to be replaced at around 130k and are quite expensive
I own the BMW 120i (f20) LCi M-Sport in estoril blue. A very nice car even in stock form. 177hp 250nm on paper. With the power produced from the N13 engine together with the stock M-sport suspension set up together with the 18" M-Sport Stagerred rims, really is a fun warm hatch to drive. In Malaysia, the road tax annual fee depends on the engine capacity (the bigger the engine, the more expensive it is). With the 1.6litre Turbocharged engine, it is affordable as the road tax is rather cheaper than the 2.0 (N20/B48). Besides, it's also a good daily car.
One thing. When you turn off the DSC in these Bimmers, you disable the sport plus, because plus means that the traction is half way off, amd the DSC is full off

I really like BMW and really want one, one day. I actually looked at 118d e87 as i first car, could afford it the insurance cost was ridiculous 5000+ SEK per month to insure a car with 120Hk, what 18 year old would be able to afford that and then pay that for a car which is meant to be cheep to drive? So I bought my self a Volvo V50 1.6D instead and then about a year later (with the money i saved on fuel) a Volvo S60 2.4T (which now has a BSR stage 1 tune), I really enjoy both cars and especially the fact that both Volvos together cost less to insure that a BMW 118d e87, a Golf GTI (yes a mk5 Golf GTI was cheaper to in sure than the 118d), a Saab 9-3/9-5 and a BMW 330i e46. Fun fact Lexus isn’t unreasonable with insurance for those younger than 25 (i looked at a IS250), and has more or less price matched Volvo, maybe an attempt to get in to a younger market in Sweden and “rival” Volvo.
Don't take me wrong : I don't mind driving fast, at all !, but I think it is a life threatening situation going fast when the road is wet ! 80Km/h is the official guiding line, so 140Km/h, I'd think should be pretty much the limit. But it could be all right if u really insist for urself, if the freeway is empty or sometimes with a lorry or a few, like it was in ur case, as we all could see. Nice that nothing really bad happened. By the way, don't u think also that sliding the rear wheels seems to be quite easy when the road is wet + slippery ?
Actually, Max, I have a 116i stock and when you push the mode "sport +" at first, and then turn off DSC - it will turn back to the "comfort" but turns off the DCS. At least for my car. Seems like in stock you cannot turn "sport +" and turn off DSC completely.
Would be nice to do 30mph to 70mph through the gears to get a really good real life gauge on overtaking power. Especially for UK drivers without autobahns!!!!!
The 114i is not very expensive in Belgium, compared to a 135i which will cost double or even more, but the problem is not in Belgium for "a powerful car" you have the insurance which is especially expensive. for a young driver, and we also have a tax called the registration tax which can go up to € 5,000/6000$+-, which is why some people buy small engines and remap, gasoline is also increasing a lot in Belgium , over taxed by policy.

Dankwheelie did a few reviews years ago. I haven't watched his channel for a while. He's more of a stuntman but has taken a Yamaha R1, S1000RR and H2R for a ride. There's also MaxWrist and some other few I'm forgetting.
There is something wrong with this car, it should definitely be faster. I think there is a boost leak, broken DFV or turbo. Btw, these 114i and 116i's are easily heatsoaked because of the lack of an oil cooler, you can see that the oil hit 130 degrees C in two 100 - 200 km/h runs (see the P3 gauge on the left). Oil temp hit 137 degrees C when I drove mine >250 km/h on the autobahn.
Car suggestion: stock Mercedes A CLASS A250 AMG line or the stock VW GOLF GTI Performance MK8. Both are cars I’m really looking to buy as a young’ish driver, possibly others share this interest. Max please!
I got a 1.4l Golf 7.5 and this dude did to his car is the thing i want to do with my own car, too bad its so hard to find a real tuner in Sweden for it..
The 120i face lift got 177hp but the motor got a bit More the HP spread a bit to the top by 3 to 10 HP Cause mine got not 177hp He got like 188hp i dont know why but the car is komplet stock and no i know what i drive n13b16a so the engins are spreading

i think its around 180hp because its too slow 100-200, that engine is tuneable up to 220hp but if it is tuned properly it does around 20s 100-200
It’s 220 crank horsepower, so you 180 estimation isn’t that bad. I have the same car as well and tuned to 220hp also.

All BMW B38 have only one exhaust, B48s have two exhausts. Even true for the Mini.

curious fact, in Brazil, the 2015 and the facelift 120i has the N20 2.0 engine with 184HP. Only in 2019 the BMW BRAZIL bring us with the B48.

I (the owner of this car) worked there. It's not allowed. But i'm still getting M135i brakes🤣

No the first lci 120i still has the 1.6. we had that car. After 2016 it became the 2.0
I do have a golf 1.5 act with 150ps and a dual clutch dsg gearbox and it goes from 100 to 200 in 31 seconds. So I expected a bit more from this 220ps.
The question, it seems to me, say about 220 hp serial is much more than about 220 hp tuned and the higher the horsepower, the greater the difference🤔

I actually looked at 118d e87 as i first car, could afford it the insurance cost was ridiculous 5000+ SEK per month to insure a car with 120Hk, what 18 year old would be able to afford that and then pay that for a car which is meant to be cheep to drive?
So I bought my self a Volvo V50 1.6D instead and then about a year later (with the money i saved on fuel) a Volvo S60 2.4T (which now has a BSR stage 1 tune), I really enjoy both cars and especially the fact that both Volvos together cost less to insure that a BMW 118d e87, a Golf GTI (yes a mk5 Golf GTI was cheaper to in sure than the 118d), a Saab 9-3/9-5 and a BMW 330i e46.
Fun fact Lexus isn’t unreasonable with insurance for those younger than 25 (i looked at a IS250), and has more or less price matched Volvo, maybe an attempt to get in to a younger market in Sweden and “rival” Volvo.
Guys, could you test something like 90's project cars of your viewers? Those cars are always fun (like that Civic 2.0 N/A).

Don't take me wrong : I don't mind driving fast, at all !, but I think it is a life threatening situation going fast when the road is wet ! 80Km/h is the official guiding line, so 140Km/h, I'd think should be pretty much the limit. But it could be all right if u really insist for urself, if the freeway is empty or sometimes with a lorry or a few, like it was in ur case, as we all could see. Nice that nothing really bad happened. By the way, don't u think also that sliding the rear wheels seems to be quite easy when the road is wet + slippery ?

Actually, Max, I have a 116i stock and when you push the mode "sport +" at first, and then turn off DSC - it will turn back to the "comfort" but turns off the DCS. At least for my car. Seems like in stock you cannot turn "sport +" and turn off DSC completely.
It's possible to get Sport Mode + DSC off... you have to hold the DSC button for 3-5 seconds
Would be nice to do 30mph to 70mph through the gears to get a really good real life gauge on overtaking power. Especially for UK drivers without autobahns!!!!!
Better to buy an N55 135i. 306hp stock, 6 cylinder, manual, coupe, & probably half the price.

The 114i is not very expensive in Belgium, compared to a 135i which will cost double or even more, but the problem is not in Belgium for "a powerful car" you have the insurance which is especially expensive. for a young driver, and we also have a tax called the registration tax which can go up to € 5,000/6000$+-, which is why some people buy small engines and remap, gasoline is also increasing a lot in Belgium , over taxed by policy.

That's actually a rule in the uk too. It applies for some track day pads which are marked ' not for road use '. I think it's a crazy rule too

@@jamesparker3822 Those pads usually require a bit of heat in them to actually bite, you wouldn't want to drive with them on the road anyways.

There is something wrong with this car, it should definitely be faster. I think there is a boost leak, broken DFV or turbo. Btw, these 114i and 116i's are easily heatsoaked because of the lack of an oil cooler, you can see that the oil hit 130 degrees C in two 100 - 200 km/h runs (see the P3 gauge on the left). Oil temp hit 137 degrees C when I drove mine >250 km/h on the autobahn.

In the 120i face-lift it has 177hp (130kw) an 250 NM of torque.
Car suggestion: stock Mercedes A CLASS A250 AMG line or the stock VW GOLF GTI Performance MK8. Both are cars I’m really looking to buy as a young’ish driver, possibly others share this interest. Max please!

Yeah this is the N13, a simple stage 1 remap is enough for 220hp

the car from factory is down tuned with some of the moters a 116i has 136 hp remove the restricter and it gets 220hp

The 120i face lift got 177hp but the motor got a bit More the HP spread a bit to the top by 3 to 10 HP Cause mine got not 177hp He got like 188hp i dont know why but the car is komplet stock and no i know what i drive n13b16a so the engins are spreading

120i has an 2.0 turbo i think The engagemang namn is n20 for that one and 114i is an n13 PSA engine
In the First Production year of the f20 LCI the 120i was equipped with 1.6 liter n13b16
