- Diana is a UA-camr who uses her platform to share her story and build awareness about HIV. Her primary goal is to “help those who are positive and educate those that are negative”. Diana hosts a series called “Born Positive” which chronicles her journey and experiences after being born with HIV.
About The Cure Chronicles:
There are more than 38 million people in the world currently living with HIV/AIDS. At American Gene Technologies® (AGT™), we believe there is hope for a cure. But it will take everyone working together to make it a reality and permanently end the suffering of millions of people living with HIV today.
AGT is testing a single-infusion cell therapy (AGT103-T) to hopefully cure people living with HIV. Meanwhile, we want to spotlight some of the many people in the HIV community who strive to keep hope alive and tip the odds toward success.

American Gene Technologies and Excision BioTherapeutics will eventually need to work together to eventually create a combined
*AGT103-T + EBT-101* therapy. Currently, AGT103-T and EBT-101 are both independently observed to demonstrate their safety and efficacy in vivo before any sort of combined therapy could be attempted, as AGT103-T & EBT-101 are two completely different approaches.
*AGT103-T* grants HIV resistance to the T cells that are responsible for hunting HIV, allowing them to do their job and fight HIV like they would for any other virus; this includes continuously fighting the viral reservoir.
*EBT-101* is a temporary pulse of CRISPR-associated gene expression that aims to cut out all HIV from the human genome, but since these CRISPR-associated genes cannot be continuously expressed, they need to cut out 100% of HIV proviruses during their expression window, otherwise HIV can just replicate and return.
After American Gene Technologies and Excision BioTherapeutics independently study the progres during the human clinical trials and both developers are able to compare data to know how well both of AGT103-T & EBT-101 work and whether or not a combination therapy would be warranted, if all results are favorable, a combined *AGT103-T + EBT-101* therapy, which AGT103-T would be infused followed by an infusion of EBT-101 maybe work as a "sterilizing" cure as opposed as a "functional" cure.
