This brings back some memories for me. I ran a 667 in the mobile years ago when I was still active on 11 meters. I've been a ham for 25 years now but I still get a kick out of the big CB amps and projects you work on. Glad you had a happy dad's day BBI.
Right on brother that’s exactly how I found you because of one of your haters ( I don’t recall who it was) but that’s besides the fact. You are a great technician I have watched 90% of your videos and I can honestly say I wish I had 1% of the knowledge you have . Great work bbi can’t wait until I’m able to afford something with your touches on it....
I was going to try to leave you a message, but saw that you allowed comments on this video, so i thought i'd just let you know here. I watched your video on the books you've acquired over the years (really related to the riding the bike to the library! that was so me). I wanted to add one book to your collection, and i don't think it's too hard to find. It's called "Practical RF power design techniques" and it was written by a guy named Irving M. Gottlieb. I have found this book to be one of the most well written and easy to follow texts i've found on the subject, and it has helped me learn a great deal. the part i like is that he uses real world examples and part values, and actually shows you the practical math! i found his writing style to be much less 'dry' as you put it in your video. The book was written in 1993 which i think is one of the reasons it pertains so well to our area of interest when it comes to the wide subject of RF. He talks about the switchover from tubes to semiconductors as it pertains to high power installations, and gets into the area of FETs being used without assuming you already know all about them like today's books do. Anyway, pick up a copy. i think you'll really enjoy it. LC
@@BoxBuilderIdaho well i hope you didn't pay anywhere near that much! I'd have just sent you mine LOL. I do hope you enjoy the read. If you learn like i do, which is to bash your head into the same wall repeatedly until a little light shines through; then i think you'll get as much out of it as i did and still do. Im at g mail for future correspondence.
Great book .. got IT Along with jessups antenne handbook And Rothammel antennehand book IT was nessesery to the Work i had at that time Now i am retired .. 50yr old wit compretion spine injury .. Thanks for being open on these comments, I'm all about radio, your amps and knowledge about them needs to spread. I have a quick question if you have time to answer, I have an Ameritron als 500m, I cant key it with my Xiegu G90 or the stryker, will it be safe to use a foot switch.
I have a 667v and i noticed that it has 2879s some are red dots and some are non red dots, does that hurt anything? Does it affect my power output? This might be a stupid question but i dont know so im asking
I Wish that he would have his comments on more videos I'd like to be able to get ahold of him for something that I'd personally like to have done. Plus it would be great to get the knowledge of others as well but that's just me. If there is any other information other than that which bbi gives. Lol.
Hi Mr. BBi, This is W.G. from N.C., I am a little slow, can U explain to me exactly what U are looking for.. Something to feed 1¼ to 1 5/8 coax/helix.. I have a couple of sources for things like that .. An 8K, I seen something like that around here somewhere.. ☺ W.G.
It's just an inch and 5/8 flange connector that goes to inch and 1/4 coax.. they're out there with the people that own them don't want to sell them so I'm hoping somebody out there would take pity on me
@@BoxBuilderIdaho I still am not sure what an Flange connector is; I just got off the phone with one of my sources, he said he had never seen one, he called it a coupler.. He is going to put out some feelers to see if he can find one.. W.G.
I have a 16v Texas star just like the one you did about a month ago in my closet has 10 non red dots in it only had it hooked up twice.its a monster it takes so much amperage to run it im considering selling it or trading for something a little more manageable
I need som help I got a bunch of matched THOMPSON TH430 300Watt I think A 2 x 16 pill .. print layout .. and the caps Aculey if you can make IT as. Kit ..mi can build IT my self I use 4% silver Stannol radio solder
If I hired you to build me an amp I video or no video I would assume it left your shop in top shape. Your reputation is worth more than a video! Look at that "fine tune" guy! He makes video's I would not do business with him. Look at Joker Electronics he used to make video's I would not trust him as far as I can throw him! Even when people disagree with you one something you have a GREAT reputation!
Why is it you won't show the tuning process on video? You've showed the screen of your analyzer, but not what's going on in the box. On one video you even made jokes about how people would love to see this, but it's not gonna happen.
I already know how to tune an rf circuit for resonance, it really isn't rocket science. I ask because in Many videos he speaks of how he is "here to help" and speaks ill of people who won't share knowledge. Yet, there are many aspects of amplifier troubleshooting/repair/design that he intentionally leaves out as if they are trade secrets.
