Considering it's Max, it really isn't. I really thought Yiheng was going to get it this year, but I'm glad Max got it since I really wanted him to get it.
First, also, Max Park is insane. 3.13 is very good, even at home, so it's crazy this happened. Your world record prediction video was only a week away, so even if the prediction seemed like there would be no way, it was almost correct.
It will. And sub-4 averages are coming a little later too. I don't want to hear the naysayers. I've been hearing "yeah okay but this time we know better and have finally hit a barrier for real" since sub-8. Sub-4 averages are absolutely possible.
If I remember correctly, 3.47 was back-sune into PLL skip. Now it's a back-fatsune into PLL skip. Really makes you wonder about the viability of alternate angle algs to save AUFs.
Absolutely insane how Yusheng Du's record stood for 5 years. I was very active in the community when he set it, but after leaving for some time, I expected it to have been lowered multiple times to even under 3 seconds. Under 4 seconds truly is a legendary task that few have done officially.
Don't feel too bad. I have known how to solve a cube since I was a kid using the beginner method. I still can't comprehend how people get this good. I am presently trying to learn CFOP and there are a combined 16 different algorithms I need to memorize to do the beginner friendly 2-look OLL/PLL (the 2 steps required to solve the last layer). The advanced single-look version of CFOP has a combined 78 different algorithms you have to memorize for OLL/PLL.
@@Drazil100I have spent 12 years solving cubes and have used CFOP for most of that time and I still don't think I ever had every OLL and PLL alg remembered at once. I almost always struggled with identifying the G-Perms as well as a bunch of the OLLs while solving and have used a hybrid of 2 look and full CFOP. Shits hard man. I peaked at a 13.7 second PLL skip and can't be bothered trying to get any better. I just stick with my janky "3 Look" method and don't bother timing myself anymore, I just do it kill time or keep my brain active.
@@cameronprior1144 Took me a full day of nonstop solving but I managed to learn 2 look... Now I just need to do it enough that it becomes second nature and I can start attempting to learn single look. Any recommendations on what to start with when I get there?
@@cameronprior1144 lol same exactly for me. Got a 12.5 best at home and can’t be bothered to improve. But DGCubes, a cuber UA-camr, was once asked “has speedcubing given helped you in life at all?” He said no, other than learning Multi Blind because it helps so much with memorizing things in the real world, apparently. I don’t think non-blind cubing is actually good for your brain. It’s literally just recognition and muscle memory. There’s very little actual “thinking” involved. @@Drazil100 definetly start with PLL, 2 look OLL can be done very fast as setting up the yellow cross usually only takes 6 moves, 2 look PLL takes up way more time compared to OLL + PLL only has 21 algs compared to the 57 (?) from OLL so its easier to learn as well

@@unnamedchannelowouwu I mean its possible, but I highly doubt it. I don't doubt that Tymon and Yiheng are likely to break the previous 3.47 wr very soon, but this is a big jump for a single. First Tbh, with so few sub-4s, it was very unlikely that the solve would be just within the 3.4x range, i knew that it would b a big jump, :) Edit: 3rd :(

Crazy solve. I really hate people who say that the scramble was just lucky.. imagine an amateur sitting there and soling it in 20 seconds like me. You wouldn’t say it’s lucky You need lots of skills like look-ahead and knowledge of different concepts like pseudoslotting for this to work out so well. Sorry but I needed to say this to all jealous people who can’t respect amazing speedcubers.
Honestly would've expected something like a 3.2x or 3.3x but not a 3.13, so now gotta wait another 5 years or so because 2028 All fast X-crosses to me are usually "when you see a corner, just insert the edge"
I was expecting a 2.7x, if the previous WR was executed at the speed of Felix the fastest speedcuber of that time, it would have been a 2.8 second solve
Amazing solution by max park...But at last F2L pair he could have inserted differently and oriented all of his yellow edges which results in sune case and y perm...but since it wasn't pll skip, congrats to him for solving in that way and getting world record...😅😅😅🎉🎉🎉
Max totally deserves this. Only 1660 days between WR singles. 3.13 is just insane
1660 days is a lot and it is INSANE
this record was so unexpected
It was also a pretty big jump from 3.47 at a 0.34 second jump.
Considering it's Max, it really isn't. I really thought Yiheng was going to get it this year, but I'm glad Max got it since I really wanted him to get it.

The best solution Ive seen from max so far
for sq-1 adj corner parity, hold the block on the right and do /(3,0)/(3,0)(2,0) and then finish like normal edge parity alg
History has been made! Some of us probably knew that Max would beat the record, but oh wow isn’t 3.13 a pretty neat number.

double xcross, free pair, easy oll and pll skip. bro is just a god.
How many moves total did he use in his solution?
