- This is a model I made of Lady from Thomas and Friends, specifically from 'Thomas and the Magic Railroad'. This model is a combination of a die-cast ERTL Lady and a Bachmann Percy ho scale model. It is not for sale and I won't make one for you, but at the end of the video I do reveal a bit of how I made it. If you have any questions of how I made it that I didn't cover in the video then feel free to leave a comment and I'll get back to you at some point.
There are only two other videos on UA-cam that I know about of Lady models that people have made if you want to check those out as well.
TopKaz Fatt: • Lady (HO)
naffo10: • HO/OO lady project- wo... - Розваги
If Bachmann were to make Lady. She'd look something like that.
They should have my made her when Thomas and the magic railway get it right came out
@@FazbearEntertainment414there not making her cuz Mattel only asighs cuz he only wants the cgi ones
Wish I had lady
Yeah, me too...
Dude you are really good at modeling! Mabey you could make one out of an ertl or Bandaitecs Lady?
@@TKS60163 yeah, this is a good idea...
F*ck yeah! And diesel 10 too
I wish Bachmann decided to release a HO Lady for the 20th anniversary of The Magic Railroad in 2020.
damn i love that sound track. fits the engine. she's lovely.
Really nice model you have here. Miles better than any other attempt I've seen.
really? thanks :)
+Sudrian Afro You should check out Topkazfatt's. His also used some parts from the Bandai Tecs model (distributed in the US by ERTL as ERTL Gold Rail), so it has a better-looking face, better lamps, and a better funnel cap. He also scratchbuilt her large cylinder casings.
@@surgeusb how did you make that?
That's just magnificent. Even though this is scratch-built, that has some value considering no other manufacturer has done a "Lady"
I agree! Bachmann should make this Lady!!!
Andrew Carlstedt And Also It will be Awesome that Bachmann should make Diesel 10 and Splatter and Dodge as Part of Promotion of Thomas and The Magic Railroad Directors Cut.
+TommyPickles Fan1992 (TommyPicklesfan1992) The push for that got abandoned, sadly.
If I hear news that they are making a bachmann Lady I will say a bunch of quotes from the movie like "stoke up the magic in the mountain and the Lady will smile" and "the lights are all green for you now, green for glory"
I saw this many years ago and didn’t know what HO was and now I come across this video again is making me feel nostalgic
HUM,I WOUNDER HOW LADY WOULD LOOK LIKE IN THE CGI VERSION?
Idk
I want Lady as a Bachmann HO and G scale, also can Lady return in CGI if Diesel 10 could, why not her.
Albert Chavez she has to stay in the human world cos she needs to help them
Albert Chavez lady is magic, Thomas is now supposed to be more realistic.
Albert Chaves i dont get how mattel thinks the bouncing and GRAVITY DEFYING TRUCKS makes the show more realistic, even tho i think the bouncing is kinda cool
Diesel 10 will wanna destroy Lady again and Lady put a restraining order against Diesel 10
@@msmace3998 how about a movie in which Thomas must go to ladies world and help restore the belief of sodor or the engines will loose all there magic
omg this model is AWESOME!!!!
wow I can’t believe this vid came out 8 yrs ago, wow. Honestly this is the best lady custom I have ever seen. Lots of others are really close but just have something off, I feel that this one is perfect
100% the best lady model on the internet
I remember watching the movie when I was little, My brother liked lady and I liked Thomas because my favorite color was blue.
I must say I've not been as invested in these model trains as I was as a kid, but this is really impressive and would've made my younger self go crazy in excitement!
I wish I knew how all of this worked, I would definitely try to do it if I were any good at this kind of thing
that last part tho, i can so relate.
A few years ago I had a grandfather who made a hornby set for me and my brother and himself. It is fantastic, still uncompleted. We all had our own engines and mine was a thomas. I loved it. I then wanted a lady model, and he said "we could build one soon". He passed a few months later. This recently sparked my interest again. I think I might make it. For him.
It looks so cool!
Splendidly done, and it runs very nicely, but you might want to add the red tail lamp on the back of the coal bunker. Other than that she's perfect, only thing which could make her a little better would be a smoke unit.
I've got some blueprints lying around for Lady somewhere, eventually I'm going to try building a live steam version in G, though it'll probably have to be faceless due to temperatures involved at the smokebox side.
she is beautiful she is my favorite character and you did it spot on could you do more videos of lady with Thomas racing
I WANT TO BUY. SERIOUSLY WANT
You will have to make one out of an Ertl Lady and a movement that supports her body.
Me too!
dude its not for sale
I have also made a Lady model and I used a small 0-4-0 chassis instead of a bachmann Percy but I love how you did yours!
I love this model
THATS AMAZING
You did an amazing job with Lady.
She is so magical
You are very talented HO scale model maker! I really wish you could remake Thomas and the Magic Railroad! If so I could help with voices.
great job and good choice of music it really added to the affect
awsome work
We always dream on a ho scale lady and you did it!
Hello, Is it possible to get it touch with you. I need some help
Have you considered redoing lady with a bill/Ben chassis?
Tasha would loved this journey
She looks very Beautiful. A Beautiful Engine. 🌟💖
AWESOME!!!! I've been trying to make one forever but still haven't had any luck with motorized one.
The model is superb
hi there I love your ho scale lady train and I am making one for myself, I was just wondering how you got the rods to fit. and what color paint did you mix, and what was the volume of the paint.
Beautiful.
Nice model!
U need to make a diesel 10 and make a TATMR Chase remake bro
Did you use the Bachmann percy with or without the moving eyes feature?
that is amazing
Nice doing a custom Lady!
Why does it look so perfect how😀😀?
I love this model!! At the moment I am in the process of making a etrl lady using the hornby pug 0-4-0. if anyone wants to know what to use if the Bachmann Percy is out of stock.
That was the case with me.
Where did u find lady I can't seem to find her
where did you get it at
any link where I can buy this?
Is it possible to make a lady model out of a o scale percy? I really wanna have a lady model that will go well with my o scale thomas
Where did you buy it?
I've noticed that Lady has a different coupler than the other Thomas ones from Bachmann. I know she'd be able to pull my regular Bachmann freight but I'm curious as to why the couplers are different and if I can change them to be like the Thomas ones
+Chaos Knight She has a knuckle coupler because it was all surgesub had at the time and it's since been replaced
If you use a Bachmann Percy for the base model as surgeusb did, it's meant to have a tension-lock coupler attached anyway. And even if you don't, styrene fillers and Krazy Glue will enable you to mount one anyway no matter what
I'm thinking about making an 00 scale lady but using a hornby pug chassi or a peckit w4 chassi
cool model
Does anyone know where I can buy a train equal to that?
where can I get one?
Nice custom!
Maybe is buy o no
Where can I get this at does anyone know? Want this so bad
Damm thats a good model 👏
This is soo cool!! If there’s one thing I’d like though (version 2 perhaps??) the wheels should be a bit smaller. Still this is great
How did you paint the wheels? That's something I would like to know because I am thinking of making one for myself.
I painted them while I had everything in pieces with a small fine brush, as for paint I just mixed some together since I couldn't find the colour I wanted
What’s lady’s basics?
Oh no nostalgia mode is on O.o
DA NOSTALGIA
thank you:) Every little bit of advice helps!!
I can Imagine a Lego Burnett Stone Minifigure in that Cab
How much i will totally buy 1 from you!
do you have the footplate just "resting" atop of the chassis, or do you have it "bound" together somehow?
did u just make that or did the bachman companies make that
used plastic craft glue to glue it to the chassis meaning i can't take take it apart if i need to but it's the only way i could think of to secure it to the chassis
anthony n. bachmann only made the percy model that i used to make lady, no model train company makes Lady, only toy versions of her have ever been made by toy companies
How did u get the shell to stay on her if the wires were in the way?
well everything is just arranged to be compacted in there with a small redundant part of the circuit board carefully cut off so it could fit inside the shell that was hollowed out. also some tape around the motor on the side of all the wires so nothing gets caught or short circuits. the shell isn't actually secured down and is resting on the footplate and the weight of it keeps itself down though i suspect it is actually resting on the motor since it doesn't go all the way down on one side
Ok thanks! And one more question you did have to take the coupling rods off the wheels to paint the wheels, right?
yes i did have have to take them off, also painted the rods gold at the same time. how you unscrew them is up to you as bachmann has their own sizes than hornby's, i had to use pointy nose pliers to undo the screws rather than my proper tools as none were the right size
Do you think you could do a how-to video on how to make this. I need a HO Lady for a Thomas movie i'm working on and i'm not an expert on modeling.
When I started thinking about making my own Lady I was going to make how-to video but forgot once I started making her. check the comments in the video as I've already answered a lot of questions on how to make her.
How did you attach the metal pieces to the pistons?
This is where my model gets dodgy and this is if you are using the Bachmann Percy model to make it, all I did was snap the small metal squares off the ends off the metal piston guiding rods that the piston runs on and drilled some holes in the plastic that were slightly smaller than the guiding rods and one larger for the piston movement to slide back and forth through and then tried forcing the guiding rods into the holes. You may need to make the holes gradually larger in order for the stationary metal rods to fit but it needs to be a tight fit in order for the metal parts to stay fixed there. On a side note you may need to adjust it later so that the piston doesn't jam. Hope that makes sense, I'm not quite familiar with all the terminology
did u hand paint the side/guiding rods, or did u disassemble and spray paint it?
had to disassemble them anyway but i did hand paint them when i put it all back together
Did u use the Ertl lady for the modle
Yes, as stated in the video description
Is they're anyway I can get one for myself?
Sky the EXEhedgehog / fnafRULZ/ BrocomotiveNo.16 no its a custom
that is so easy to make
It looks like you've positioned the motor vertically. How did you make contact with the main driving gear with the motor worm at that angle? And what did you do with the extra gears?
yes the motor is positioned vertically and the worm makes contact with the driving gear because i never actually moved the motor, it was how bachmann made it. i did remove a lot of the plastic case from around the motor and the rest of the case but left enough to keep the motor in place otherwise it wouldn't have fitted into the die-cast top. as for all the extra gears that were to do with Percy's eyes, i just ripped them all out and saved them in case i wanted to paint them and use them as scrap metal in wagons
surgeusb so it sounds like you kept that one gear that interlocks between the motor worm and the driving gear on the wheel axle?
***** yep, only kept the basics for it to run
it is for sale? HOW MUCH?!?!
If I ever did a custom HO Lady Model I would use the wheel's from a Hornby Percy with a tomica Lady Body but I might need to paint the wheels and the side-rods to the footplate.
Es hermoso
Would you make a short line of these to sell?
As profitable as it would be I wouldn't do it. Mainly due to the fact that the die-cast Lady is hard to come by and is even harder to find one in good condition where the paint isn't chipped too much and even then the sellers like to charge a fortune just for Lady alone. The actual making of the model is quite simple once you know how model trains function and have most of the right tools
Where did you get the train lady.
He made it
how did you remove the screw sockets
check other comments but basically i used a dremel
Does it matter where they are drilled in, not counting near the outside?
just as long as all the metal rods will line up with them and doesn't get too close to the wheels that the metal parts seize up
It took me a while to overcome this same problem, but the solution that I found was filling the piston with something hard so that the connecting rod has a guide.
dang it and i though i was the only one to use a percy chassis for lady
I want that for Christmas
Step one:take a HO scalr perchy
Step two:get remove the bodyw
Step three:make lady face & body
Step four:say yay
That’s like Bachmann style except the chimney that would be hornby
I just have to ask where you got the ERTL model and how much you paid for it if you don't mind me asking.
eBay and the price usually varies from $5 to $25 or even sometimes up to $40. it's also handy to search for bulk sales of the ertl Thomas and friends toys as it's common to find Lady in those as that's how i got hold of the lady i used. also bought one that was still in its movie promotional packaging but couldn't bring myself to open it
I found a 10 pack that has the model that I am looking for but it was almost a hundred dollars.
just need to keep looking even i it takes every 2nd or 3rd day for a month
Okay thanks by the way for letting me know where you got the ERTL model great job on lady
Not bad, certainly looks better than mine does right now. I question your choice to use knuckle couplers rather than just using the staple method for magnetic uncoupling, but w/e.
+ZeldaTheSwordsman nah it was all I could get at the time, have a tension coupler on there now so I can use it with the rest of the rolling stock
surgeusb Ah, okay. That explains it then.
+surgeusb This is stellar! Amazing job m8! :)
red1birdg I sertenly want her back
Where did you get her
look in the description....
Great model, what motor did you use as the base of the engine
Or what model should I use, I live in the UK so it's difficult getting bachmann
***** I used Bachman because it was the closest look I could get to Lady's wheel base, plus the ebay seller lived around the corner from me. However since you live in the UK I do think there are some alternatives that are more readily available for you but you would really need to look at the wheels and where the motor is so that it will fit in the die-casting. I also used the same Bauchman wheel base and motor as TopKaz Fatt used except his came from a model that wasn't Percy. Have a look through the comments later in case you have any questions that might have already been answered on making Lady.
Are you positive i could ask you to make me one ! Haha lovely work
Would it be possible to use an HO scale bill/Ben for her chassis ?
brian flannigan maybe, but to me bill and ben's motors look too far back on the chassis so you really need to physically check if the motor can fit inside lady, check bill and ben's parts here estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=66_68_93_610&zenid=a13ahbtf0ha4fff19jakmbq7e5
I chose percy because the motor is in the right place and can fit inside once the eye mechanism is chopped out
What about using a pug chassis ? I may have to modify the rods , but will the motor fit ?
surgeusb where did you get lady's body model from?
ebay, it's a die cast ertl model
surgeusb thanks :)
my grandpa is here and we are getting close! how did you cut the screw socket off that is closest to the cab?
if you are talking about the screw sockets in the top part of it as shown in the last picture of the video, I used a dremel with various bits to weaken the base of the screw sockets and then used pointy nosed pliers to snap them off and used the dremel again to clean it up
Thank you so match! I appreciate it:)
Much, not match:)
Let me guess........
You took a Bachmann Percy, painted his wheels purple and his traction rods gold and took them off then your toot an Ertl Lady and put the wheels on her
You know that old saying when life gives you a freezer fill it with reesees
Wait so that is Percy's model that you used?
+Tammy Maxwell Yep. Donated chassis, motor, wheels, and steps.
kinda sad to see after that movie they forgot her and she just is only in that movie why cant they put her in the show
Are you giving away that lady ho toy train
I wish I could make it
put a lego figurine that looks like burnett stone in the cab
Why does the model's face stare into the absolute darkness? She looks like Momo...
I love it im jeales
Guys my Canada lady toy is comming
