    Dr Lyon. I started watching your podcast about 2 weeks ago and I bought your book a week ago. Just in that short time I've increased my protein up to 200 grams a day, from under 100 grams a day. My strength training has improved significantly, my cravings for sweets ,carbs and alcohol have diminished considerably. I feel full all day .
    I am 62 years old, had covid 3 years ago which the Doctors think contributed to me having a stroke.
    Since then I started jogging and training for half marathons. I've run 3 in the last year. Although I was eating 90% clean and healthy, juicing and taking supplements, I neglected my resistance training and protein intake. Did a little bit of both but not nearly enough.
    Make a long story short, I'm following your advice,with huge results happening already.
    I'll take progress pictures, keep a journal and I just had labs done to compare to in 6 months.
    I hope I can inspire others in the future and start my own podcast.
    Have a wonderful day and happy holidays to everyone.

    This is an excellent interview! She's asking questions I would.
    One thing about women in the gym not lifting weights; in the gym I go to, the men monopolize all the weight equipment and I don't have time to wait. What I did was I bought varying weights of dumbells and train at home and use the gym for cardio.
    Thank you. Again, excellent interview. I'm saving this

    He speaks of 30%, but i have no idea what that means. I take 1600mg/EPA:800mg/DHA:600mg, in 2.5g in 2 gel caps, but have no idea how this corresponds to 30%

      What it means of your 1600 mg of the actual fish oil at least 30% of that should be DHA and EPA. These UK people like the talking all this nonsense. He said that 30% of your total fish oil should be DHA and EPA to be a quality fish oil so yours is very good

    Great discussion per usual. QQ: What does it mean to have "low quality skeletal muscle" in the context of obese folks? Why isn't muscle simply muscle? Given that we are talking about musckle - not fat, what is the distinction between low quality and high quality muscle? Thank you!

    • @julz491
      @julz491 Рік тому +2

      Think of a lean cut of steak vs a fatty cut of steak: sirloin vs ribeye. Skeletal muscle should be lean for optimal function.

    Can you start for the first time at 66 gaining muscle by a higher protein diet? Seems the take away, is that I would have needed to start years ago to make a real difference.

    Oh, it's quite the genius business model: pocketing funds from the supplement industry and then dishing out those 'unbiased' opinions on supplements , all while leveraging your medical degree for that extra stamp of credibility. Brilliance at its finest!

    Dr. I love the fact that you practice what you preach. You look great and it does encourage us to follow suit. But these researchers, this guy is seriously unhealthy. Without your oversight and review of his studies, I probably wouldn't take him serious, so thank you for that!! I'm changing my meal plan as I type, great info! 🥩🧈🥓🍳👍✌️
