  • Serial killer Dahmer gives deposition in family's suit
    Apr 6, 1993
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Before a room of lawyers, Jeffrey Dahmer recounted Monday how he injected acid into a Laotian boy's brain, listened for his heartbeat and then took pictures of the corpse before he dismembered it.
The testimony came in a deposition for a lawsuit filed by the family of Konerak Sinthasomphone, one of 17 people Dahmer admitted killing. The family is suing the city and three officers who confronted Dahmer just hours before he killed the 14-year-old boy.
Dahmer, who is serving 15 consecutive life sentences, entered the federal courtroom with his arms and legs shackled. His hair was matted, and he had gained weight since his sentencing in February 1992.
Many of his answers to more than an hour of questioning by three attorneys were terse, limited to one-or two-word phrases, like "that's right" or "occasionally." He looked down much of the time, moving his index finger back and forth on the witness stand.
Three state guards stood nearby and others were posted near the door. At one point, Dahmer requested a glass of water.
Attorney Robert Slattery, who represents Sinthasomphone's family, asked Dahmer why during his 13-year killing spree, only some of his sexual urges moved him to kill.
"I'd like to know the reason for that, too," Dahmer replied. "I don't know."
Two of the police officers being sued, Joseph P. Gabrish and John A. Balcerzak, were fired after they failed to properly investigate when they encountered Dahmer and the boy in an alley in May 1991.
Despite a neighbor's insistence that Sinthasomphone was a boy, Dahmer convinced the officers the boy was his adult lover and the two had had a spat. The officers led the naked and dazed boy back to Dahmer's apartment, where the body of another victim lay in the bedroom.
Dahmer said within an hour after police left, he injected acid into the boy's skull a second time and "that's what killed him." "I listened for a heartbeat right after I injected him and there was none," Dahmer testified. "I wasn't trying to kill him but that's what happened."

Yes, there was definitely something going on with him at this time.
Usually, he was very cooperative with the authorities, he wanted to tell them everything and would answer their questions willingly, politely, and thoroughly. And he was always put together and nice looking.
Here he is obviously not eager to talk, his sarcasm and attitude with the court was unusual for him. He was also very rough looking here, his hair not combed and he looked like had been up for days or like he had a major hangover, which obviously was not possible,so it was just whatever was going on with him on this particular day.

This was footage from the suit a victim’s family brought against the City of Milwaukee, that took place in April 1993. The victim was the 14- year old Hmong boy, who escaped, but police returned him to Dahmer, who ultimately killed him. He would have just done his first year of solitary confinement. He looks as if he’s been woken up from a nap, and told to come testify. He appears cooperative, but tense because he is being interrogated by a lawyer for the family of the victim. Most of the questions he was being asked were covered in his confession to police. I sensed his patience may have been wearing thin, from the redundancy of it all.

@@chloedassler6156 Chloe I can't begin to agree with you. That was a horrible day for Jeff, 3 days of sleep deprivation, his hair's beyond a wicked mess, the intense energy he exhibited confessing in detail to Det. Patrick Kennedy about every killing, no wonder he took off his glasses; he desperately needed a damn good hot shower & plenty of REST! (Yet at this time the showering thing would have been really dangerous to him unless Pat was in there with him. Yet, he still managed to pull off his best - the sheer exhaustion put the beast in him to sleep, yes & terribly hungover & dehydrated. Chloe, I don't mean to but I feel like I'm only repeating what you already say because you're so right on. Jeff was a smokin' HOT gentleman, articulate, well spoken, maintained eye contact with his interviewers, forthcoming while he took on a detailed 3 day, 160 page confession marathon with Det. Patrick Kennedy who actually commented on the good in him & it appears in a interview as if he was becoming attached to Jeff, wife & kids left, had no idea where he stood with the Police dept...now he was in the tiny efficiency apt - ALONE I'm so proud he turned his sadness around by continuing his education & doing what he does best - teaching what he learned...what a waste of Jeff's humanity & value...What was this guy doing working in a chocolate factory?? Yeah I know; it's a rhetorical question. The movie "My Friend Dahmer" with Ross Lynch revealed much necessary info into Jeff's psyche and how badly he experienced life as a kid gives one much insight that affected the growing compulsions. Typical J. Doe won't take the time to read empathetic postings - at this point - doesn't care or is just plain stupid.

There is not much anyone can tell me about Serial Killers and especially Jeffery Dahmer. I am a master at both of them. Jeffery's issues were not his own, they were his mother's. Mental Health Issues are inherented and he surely got them from her. Jeffery was also ignored as a child by both parents, he had no real friends to interact with so he was left alone to due as he chose to do. As he grew, so did his mental issues his mother didn't care and the dad made excuses for his strange behaviors. Once he became 18 both parents turned their backs and left him and did their own thing. Any child that has a gas a fascination with any form of DEATH be it animals, or humans needs help ASAP. So I hold the adults in his life just as accountable as Jeffrey. They failed him from the beginning when they were supposed to be paying attention to him and what he was doing before he became an adult. They have just as much blood on their hands as their own son. Take responsibility parents for what u should have done.

You are a master are you? Masters read up on their subject matter. So I would suggest you have neither read up thoroughly on this subject nor are you a master of this topic. Jeffrey Dahmer had a brother, who by all
accounts is perfectly normal, so that would suggest that this is all to do with his parents and not to do with Jeffrey is rubbish. His father certainly loved and cared for him as he tried numerous times to get him help and encourage him to be a more productive member of society. His parents did not turn their back on him. His father stuck by him even after his crimes were uncovered. You also contradicted yourself by stating that: "Jeffery's issues were not his own, they were his mother's", then go onto say; "the adults in his life just as accountable as Jeffrey". You, Livonia Lyons-Washington, are not a master. You are a moderately knowledgeable at best.

Not really. He looks like he’s been up for days and probably had to answer the same questions over and over again. He clearly has stated before how he regrets his actions and maybe these long drawn out interviews/interrogations made him go back to a place he didn’t want to be.

    ENGLISH PLEASE!!
Anyone else notice how unprofessional these so called masters of their trade are - as in right down to the judge? They can't even use proper English, (not the narrator), the so called professionals...countless mistakes; & with all this education you need for a hailed position, double negatives?? Jeff spoke beautifully on his worse days & put you all to shame, a-Holes. As for now the only one who's word I trust is Det. Patrick Kennedy who really got to know Jeff.

Well, I agree that Jeff's very articulate but this person that's interviewing him in this particular deposition was an attorney that was representing the (laotion) sinthasomphone family...so it's safe to say that they are not native English speakers and English probably isn't their first language...in that case, it's alright to make some mistakes uk..🤷‍♀️

This is so NOT over...still researching allot...I'd like to post my own vid about all the things the press & police got wrong & now these so called victim families years later could care less about the "healing process" when their all jumping on the spoils of the kill.
I'd need more vid footage tho with Jeff - I wish he was alive & happy...not in an insane hospital; the would only treat him like their lab rat on meds that would suck the life outta him, ECT & insulin & subject to seriously crazy people where he does not fit in.
