You guys are all idiots. Anyone that collects anything knows that signatures before someone was famous don't mean nearly as much as after they were famous.
Guy: "Got a yearbook from Bethlehem highschool, signed by Jesus Christ and the apostles." Rick: "Well this is from before he got famous, so I don't think it's really worth anything."
"I'm a little worried about its authenticity. Jesus wouldn't have been The Christ in high school yet......do you mind if I bring a buddy of mine to check out these signatures?"
Seller: "I have here a piece of the actual cross Jesus was crucified on." Rick: "Let me call my buddy who's an expert in dealing with big wooden crosses."
"I have this crystal meth from Jim Morrison". "Well, I'm not an expert, but I know a guy that has a lot of experience about that stuff. CHUM! HEY, CHUM! COME OVER HERE A SECOND!"
My priest actually has two pieces of the cross just thin slivers tho. The cross was actually dug up and turned into tiny pieces and spread around the world.
Darkithna mgedrf Let me guess...You live in a trailer in Louisiana and your priest drives a 2019 Rolls Royce and you pay him 3000 per month just to get a spot in heaven...
I guess it's convince. Probably a lot more paper work doing an auction, have to travel to a certain location, at a certain time frame, might not have many interested buyers. I guess it's a bit more risky? Maybe I am wrong and they are dumb, but I'm sure the guy was like hey I'm going to Las Vegas to party and gamble and the neighbor is like wait take these James Dean yearbooks with you and sell them to Pawn Stars lol.
Nah he's a PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) authenticator. They're very good at what they do and the main way to authenticate autographs is stroke comparison of the signature to other versi ons.
I just googled James Dean autograph worth and there is a fifth grade tag with James Dean A.K.A Jimmy Dean signature asking price $9,000. This guy had 4 signatures and 4 yearbooks.. easy $40,000+
@@TheMusikryder What sort of logic is that? Would you rather collect autographs of your favorite celebrity signed when they were famous or before they became famous? I'd rather collect the former and demand drives the value.
@@porkcutlet3920 I'm a fairly avid autograph collector, and prefer them from before they were famous, they're in the vast majority of cases, a lot harder to find.
The 1949 Senior yearbook is very rare. James Dean's Dad lived in Hernando County Florida in the 1980's. My neighbor helped Winton Dean sell and move back to Indiana when his wife,Ethel died around 1988. As a favor Winton, James Dad, gave my friend about 25 pieces of mail from his sons last address in Sherman Oaks. He received the letters and stamped/cancelled envelopes plus one of his High School yrbks from Fairmount. The letters are from fans and business associates. These items are rare and valuable He was offered thousands for the letters .
Here’s how it ultimately worked out - Corey made the deal for $6,750, called Steve who was waiting in the parking lot & he came right back in & paid $12k, then sold it to a collector for $20k.
You're not going to con a pawn broker that way. Notice how Rick and 'em usually ask the seller "How much were you hoping to get for it?" (or a similar question). There is a good reason for that. The person making the first offer is typically the person negotiating from weaker position. Rick and 'em wants you to make the first offer. Even if the offer is unreasonably high. By making the first offer, you give the pawn broker information to use against you in the negotiation (even if you don't realize it). The pawn broker has information about your position, but because you made the first offer, you have no information about their position yet. If you want to get a small advantage on a pawn broker (not a big advantage, but a small one), insist that the pawn broker makes the first offer. Rick: How much were you hoping to get for it? Seller: Make me an offer. Four words. Very simple sentence. But something like that will give a tiny bit more negotiating power back to the seller. That alone won't give a lot of negotiating power back to the seller (because this is a pawn broker full-time job while it is maybe the seller's first time stepping into a pawn shop), but it helps a little.
hey, scam man is back and he valued it at EXACTLY half what they were asking for again. amazing how everyone asked for exactly double the value its almost like he knows how much they asked for and just cut the number in half 90% of the time, the other 10% he cuts the number in a third
I mean. That's the quote you get. Like a car dealership buying your used car and giving you an estimate. Other places will pay you more, others will pay you less. That's why you research the item and if you feel that you can get at least 90% selling it yourself, you should.
Rick "im taking all the risks here" harrison. He made sure his son was a cheapskate too. Corey: its worth 1000, I'll give you 100 dollars. Thats as high as i can go. Like father like son lol
