    There has to be a conversation now about Tomo being one of the greatest guitar players of all time. You can tell from his lessons that his music transcends itself into life, that music isn’t just music in its own right, but music can teach you about life itself. It is true that Tomo does not have the discography you would expect from a label of greatest guitarist ever, in a way that Hendrix did, but nonetheless, both use the guitar to show you the true meaning of life, to bring people together, to discover yourself and what you are capable of. To me man, without a doubt Tomo Fujita is the greatest guitarist of all time. Thank you Tomo, sincerely

    First, thank you Tomo! Two things that set you apart: ‘write it down’, and, ‘don’t just rely on knowing the triad shapes’. Good ‘wisdom’ indeed. I haven’t been able to break free from the perils of just knowing the ‘shapes’. But I’m very much on the good foot ( as brother James Brown, used to say ). Many thanks to you, Tomo.

    Haisha moushiagemasu Tomo 🙏.
    I have been playing keyboard and guitar since I was 4 years old. Music has been a constant and consistent friend in my life for my entire journey. Recently I've been dedicated to improving my guitar improvisation techniques and trying to finally step back and get an understanding of the basics so that I can make the step forward that I've been unable to rise to. Last night I sat on the couch with my guitar playing E triads slowly up and down the neck. Sounding each note distinctly and clearly. It made me smile! I looked at the "D" shape and thought "oh, let me try the other triad shapes from D and see what happens". E and D triads together! Simple sparks to a brighter light! Aka reta hikari.
    You have many great gifts the greatest of which is sharing. Again, thank you so much!

    Thanks for teaching me Triads a few years ago (Guitar Wisdom) I'm trying to incorporate them into my blues improv - to help me not play so boxy and "scaley". I had always thought that an inversion was simply changing the root of a chord,specifically the lowest note of the chord. I guess it is true for triads. One of my favorite things used to be changing the bass note,even notes and connecting chords in interesting ways. Voice leading,but without knowing all the basics. There are no short cuts when it comes to music.

    Fantastic. The perfect extension to the C triads. I've been working on them mentally before falling asleep, trying to visualize them and get the solfège system into my head. Plus learning them across the neck. I figured out the major to minor myself - though I haven't used it much - and connecting the triads to the caged system helped me visualize the triads using the 5th and 6th strings. But this lesson was an aha moment. You showed how to take what you taught and I've learned and use it to open up the whole fretboard. It seems as if the patterns must repeat up the neck. I haven't worked on learning the single string major scale, but that has to connect up with the shapes of the triads, so that when playing in Eb say, with the So-Do-Me D shape shifted up a fret, the IV and V triads are a matter of spacing. Which gives you another way of finding the chords, rather than just knowing that the 8th fret is C on the E strings. It will take work, but it feels like it's all coming together. I never thought I'd be able to understand this. Thanks so much.
    *** Lesson Suggestion ***
    On my own I've been trying to connect the triads to riffs in songs I like. For example, D'yer M'aker by Led Zeppelin, has a I vi IV V riff in C major, with most of the action being on the 3 higher strings. So the hammer-ons, slides and double stops are different based on Major and minor. A great lesson would be to talk about how to pull apart what's going on, when something sounds great but is based on triads and seems harmonically simple. If that makes sense. Meanwhile, plenty to work on. Thanks again.

      @@TomoFujitaMusic Yes, I agree. I have Band in a Box for my PC and found many blues progressions that go from basic to more complex in the key of C. I've been using triads on the top 3 strings to practice and now coming across more complex progressions using 9ths, 13ths, Aug, etc. Last night, I came across a three note combination that sounds nice over an F9 ( the 4 chord in the key of C ) on the top strings using the 3rd, 7th and 9th. All the notes are within 3 frets so it fits in with the triad shapes, although not triad shape ( major, minor, dim, aug, sus 2 or sus 4) . Anyway....I'm enjoying this and I'm honored by your thoughtful replies. Much respect.

      Try to make you own backing track with a metronome & simple chords!
      R 7 3 or R 3 7 so you can play anything over those simple chords! Thank you so much!

    tomo sir please help me at any how actually my problem is when I solo or play lead behind any chord backing track I just got stuck into shapes like minor pentatonic or major pentatonic etc..... what I do I just play according to these shapes which doesn’t sound musical at all and keeps me into the zone of repeating things or licks.
    Help me how to change the game from here it’s been many years I’m just doing same thing.
    For eg - if I’m into Am backing track then what I do I start minor pentatonic but only according to shape wise and same with other scales with me. I tried to learn many licks to put in my playing but there are millions of licks no one can remind them all the time. Please enlighten me on this 🙏🏻🙏🏻

    • @TomoFujitaMusic
      @TomoFujitaMusic  2 роки тому

      Yes! First you need to learn more chords, rhythm guitar, harmony, song form. This way you are going to learn about song first! You are just using visual shapes! If you want to play Pentatonic Scale. Try to play that on one string! 1st string Root b3 4 5! 5th, 8th, 10th and 12th fret! Don't use any backing tracks!
