The first civilisation, modern templars/abstergo, conspiracies, linkage with the destruction of the world in 2012! it all felt so mysterious and that was awesome! I agree. I really miss all the first civ. stuff from the earlier games. It gave the main storyline more importance and in my opinion, a very interesting Sci fi element.
Jacob and Evie are great! Loved the way they messed with each other throughout the game. Plus, they weren't boring and dull. They didn't try so hard to be "OMGZ EPIC LIKE EZIO", they just did their thing. Great personalities. Definitely my favorite AC characters.
None of the other assassins tried to be “OMGZ EPIC LIKE EZIO” they all had they own COMPLETELY different and maybe even opposite personalities than him lol.
Syndicate has become one of the greatest Assassin's Creed of all time! Jacob and Evie are great characters and London is a beautifull city. If you want a great Action-Adventure with great gameplay and a good story, Syndicate is what you are looking for. If you read the other comments below: Don't trust them. They are just the usual hate against the series. Those people never played the game. But hating is a trend these days, isn't it?
Last AC game the newer version aren't AC anymore neither here nor there they should pick a lane drop the AC and go on full Witcher style or revert to what it suppose to be about
Does anyone else wish AC was still similar to this style instead of the RPG-ish approach they take now? I really liked this game a lot- it’s easily my favorite entry after Black Flag, and I thought they did a great job correcting the mistakes of Unity. The last 3 games just haven’t been as enjoyable for me; I truly think they should’ve found a different way to evolve the series

If you like the way AC works, i recommend it because haven't had this much fun since ac2. If you expect change, there is no reason to buy it other than location, music and story. I recommend it tho.

I believe 2015 has been one of the best years to be a gamer, The Witcher 3, Mgs5, Batman, Guitar Hero, Bloodborne, Assassins Creed Syndicate. And with Black ops 3, Battlefront, starcraft 2, halo 5 and of course Fallout 4 it just keeps getting better.

As someone completely new to AC, Syndicate made me hooked to the series. So far I’ve done AC2, Brotherhood, Black Flags, Unity and Origins. But I’m always returning to Syndicate to 100% all the missions. Its the most balanced game for story/questing, open world, combat and parkour.
Simply put for long term fans: Pros: Great Assassins Clever dialogue Great Assassinations Decent Villians Better side quests Less "find this obscure relic" More lore than previous titles such as Unity and Black flag Cons Finishers don't feel quite as sharp as in previous games Animations can be a bit wonky The carriage riding is jerky and hard to get used to The side characters are shallow and uninteresting when compared to those of 4, brotherhood, and 3 They really need to bring Desmond back or add a new central character
A majority of the time I play this game, I play as Evie. She seems more "light" in her movements since it seems she focuses on primarily stealth. It also has been more effective for me to use Evie due to the skill of blending in with her environment that can be gained later on in the game or earlier on if much time is spent earning the skill count to gain that ability.
+Leader237 Very cliché ending. Also the "powers" he was using with the shroud was never explained. It never said that the shroud could do anything like that. I had the biggest nerdgasm ever playing this... mostly because I'm a HUGE history buff and am especially enthusiastic about the key characters that you do missions for in this Victorian era (Dickens, Marx, Graham Bell etc). I also loved reading about London's history in an accessible, funny way (very well written). The soundtrack is beautiful and really captures the era and feel of industrial London with sombre and hectic strings. Really enjoyed this, and for £15, I would certainly recommend it.

Lord Vader ac2 was obviously the revolutionary assassin's n creed game, revelations is prob an odd choice but it had a great setting and a solid story and that was the last game with the best ac characters, altair and ezio. Black flag story was not all that but it's gameplay largely the ship combat made it a different and successful experience. Syndicate looks like a upgraded unity, not saying its bad but I'm not picking it up a launch, probably Get it several months later. Suppose to say black flag story instead of sorry- edit

played it today all day. the game is amazing, combat and quick time events could be better but the story, characters, missions, side missions, activities and stealth are all fun and engaging
Syndicate ranks somewhere in the middle for me: 1. AC 2 2. AC Brotherhood 3. AC Black Flag 4. AC Syndicate tied with AC Revelations 5. AC 3 6. AC 7. AC Unity
Just finished the main storyline of the game, I've played all the main games with the exception of Unity which I watched a full playthrough on UA-cam. This is my honest review of Syndicate. Let's start off with the GOODS: Combat: It's the most fun I've had so far in AC games, although after a while it does get repetitive, either way they seemed the have fixed the "cartooney" fighting it seemed to have on the first gameplay footage releases. Graphics and scenary: Amazing the city feels endless with huge depth and detail, and they kinda fixed the PC port compared to Unity (not as much demanding considering it's a sequel title). Almost no bugs: At least I didn't have negative experiences with bugs on this one. Customization and upgrades: pretty functional system and needed as well, you feel the difference and the need to upgrade along the game. Characters: The twins are pretty "likable" even more than Arno and Elise IMO, and the fact that you can change between them it's nice to add variety, yet there's a negative side which I'll refer briefly. Mechanics, tools, carriages: The grappling hook, the carriages, all of them are pretty well thought tools to navigate the cities, although carriage damage isn't very realistic. Industrial Revolution and WWI: the time periods were pretty well portrayed and the fact you could have a different character and a mini map in WWI was a very great feature and perhaps the more interesting one in terms of present day story. BADS: Character relations: Once again AC has failled to make me feel the bonding between characters. Evie and Jacob have a love-hate relation as every brothers do, but the only time we can feel those emotions are in the beginning of the game and on the last mission. Also Evie's relation with Henry Green seemed pretty "forced" there was like only one mission with both of them and in the end they seemed to have a deep connection just out of thin air, if something else went on they did not show us until the end. Pointless cutscenes: Not a single memorable cutscene from this game, I dare to say you could play the whole game without the cutscenes and still know what went on and what you have to do. Repetitive missions: I like the way the missions are more well planned and the fact you can execute them in unique ways, but in the end they're all the same! Kill, sneak, kidnap, run away. Too linear, apart from the very last mission there isn't a single memorable mission with exciting cutscenes in the middle that make you eager for more. Present day story: "There will be present day on Syndicate" the producers said, "It'll be amazing" they said. Are you kidding me? not a single useful thing went on in present day, not to mention the crappy cutscenes with no actual interesting info. I thought they would at least save the moment were they go after the Shroud to make it playable and more story revealing. But no all we got was a bad action mini movie. This is a core point in the AC series for me the most important and the one that makes me patiently wait for another game, it was all going well until Black Flag. and then they decided to stall from there on out. Overral I rate this game 7/10, and I'm just going to fire some final shots here. AC3 which was deeply criticized at the time is still better IMO than Unity and Syndicate together. Why? Connor although a bit dull still made us more attached to him due to his harsh story, and the present day story on that game was overwhelmingly good, it was the game where all was revealed, all we got since then was a reminder of what happened in the end of AC3. (Oh ok Juno is trying to become physical form, rule the world, there are the re-incarnated sages which posessed her husband's conscience, fine!). I seriously want to see more development in that field, and in a PLAYABLE FORM. From the end of this game it seems present day story will finally start to unravel, I hope so, we've had enough stall games for Ubisoft to make money from. Please don't be ofended by my opinion, I liked the game, more than Unity at least, it's pretty enjoyable and fun game on its own, but once you compare it to previous titles, I'm sorry but it ain't gonna cut it. (sorry for long post)

Best Assassin's Creed ever (at the time of writing)!!! At the very least, Syndicate has the best city of the franchise AND the best characters since Ezio (I still miss that man. That man was legit).
So you're going to say the game had a bad ending without even telling us why it was a bad ending. I thought the ending was perfectly fitting for a game like this which is a whole lot more lighthearted than it's predecessor Unity.
This is more of a traditional Creed game than Black Flag. If you have the option I would definitely start with 2 and follow through with the whole Ezio trilogy. Black Flag is a better game, but it isn't really "assassins creed" in my opinion.
Just completed the story mode yesterday. I really enjoyed it and the game is much better than Unity. However though the game is very easy. One of the easiest Assassin's Creed game i have played. I wish the game was a bit more challenging.

I remember how I got excited by find the Apple in Brotherhood and other relics and tombs in AC:2 , Ubi forgot how to make those stories again it seems, sadly
I like this new assassins creed game! I started the play it and literally couldn't stop and ended up playing it 3-5 hours on sunday(couldn't keep track). It's so much fun with all the new activities you can do like rescues kids from factories(which I found really historical), riding carriages, and creating gangs! It's a blast and the two main characters make it perfect for me.
they were back to being on the right track with this one ... some people hated that they didn't include multi player but it gave them more time to focus on the game play with a single player component which helps out a lot
i am going to completely agree with you, AC is a series meant to be single player. multiplayer in primarily single player games takes away from the experience.

I basically feel the same about every Assassin's Creed game I've played. They all have many fun missions, and many dull and boring missions. And I usually end up feeling the same after each game is finished. Sad, and ready for the next. I sometimes wish the side missions were mandatory for completing the games. Because the games are never very long when sticking only to the main story missions. Black Flag was my favorite because of the naval combat, controls and islands (and pirates, shanties and tavern songs). I just finished Unity, and that was the most difficult of the series so far. Not only because of the guards killing Arno SO much easier than usual, but because of the clunky controls. I can't count how many times I was trying to escape the guards, and Arno would climb a wall, and I couldn't get back down fast enough and died. Seriously, Arno just flat won't freakin' fall off of a wall in the heat of panic and frustration. That game had me cussing SO many times.

Took 20 punches just to take down one dude, didnt really feel like an Assassin. Previous AC games had it right...

I just miss actually feeling like an assassin. The latest games make you feel like just some character wearing assassins clothes, it doesn't feel like you are a part of the assassins order.
Why would you mention the game having a terrible ending? That just ruins the experience for someone who wanted to see a review before buying the game. All the person is going to think about is anticipating a shitty ending.
This is such an amazing franchise This game has such a great amount of content to play when I bought the gold edition. And going back and exploring these cities is remarkable.

As someone completely new to AC, Syndicate made me hooked to the series. So far I’ve done AC2, Brotherhood, Black Flags, Unity and Origins. But I’m always returning to Syndicate to 100% all the missions. Its the most balanced game for story/questing, open world, combat and parkour.

A majority of the time I play this game, I play as Evie. She seems more "light" in her movements since it seems she focuses on primarily stealth. It also has been more effective for me to use Evie due to the skill of blending in with her environment that can be gained later on in the game or earlier on if much time is spent earning the skill count to gain that ability.

the ability of conquering different parts of London with your gang was an excellent feature

I had the biggest nerdgasm ever playing this... mostly because I'm a HUGE history buff and am especially enthusiastic about the key characters that you do missions for in this Victorian era (Dickens, Marx, Graham Bell etc). I also loved reading about London's history in an accessible, funny way (very well written). The soundtrack is beautiful and really captures the era and feel of industrial London with sombre and hectic strings. Really enjoyed this, and for £15, I would certainly recommend it.
So far I've gone through Mad Max, Arkham Knight and am currently playing Halo 5 but this is definitely next on the list when I find some time

Lord Vader ac2 was obviously the revolutionary assassin's n creed game, revelations is prob an odd choice but it had a great setting and a solid story and that was the last game with the best ac characters, altair and ezio. Black flag story was not all that but it's gameplay largely the ship combat made it a different and successful experience. Syndicate looks like a upgraded unity, not saying its bad but I'm not picking it up a launch, probably Get it several months later.

Syndicate and AC3 are probably the most underated games in the series.
Just finished the main storyline of the game, I've played all the main games with the exception of Unity which I watched a full playthrough on UA-cam. This is my honest review of Syndicate.
Let's start off with the GOODS:
Combat: It's the most fun I've had so far in AC games, although after a while it does get repetitive, either way they seemed the have fixed the "cartooney" fighting it seemed to have on the first gameplay footage releases.
Graphics and scenary: Amazing the city feels endless with huge depth and detail, and they kinda fixed the PC port compared to Unity (not as much demanding considering it's a sequel title).
Almost no bugs: At least I didn't have negative experiences with bugs on this one.
Customization and upgrades: pretty functional system and needed as well, you feel the difference and the need to upgrade along the game.
Characters: The twins are pretty "likable" even more than Arno and Elise IMO, and the fact that you can change between them it's nice to add variety, yet there's a negative side which I'll refer briefly.
Mechanics, tools, carriages: The grappling hook, the carriages, all of them are pretty well thought tools to navigate the cities, although carriage damage isn't very realistic.
Industrial Revolution and WWI: the time periods were pretty well portrayed and the fact you could have a different character and a mini map in WWI was a very great feature and perhaps the more interesting one in terms of present day story.
BADS:
Character relations: Once again AC has failled to make me feel the bonding between characters. Evie and Jacob have a love-hate relation as every brothers do, but the only time we can feel those emotions are in the beginning of the game and on the last mission. Also Evie's relation with Henry Green seemed pretty "forced" there was like only one mission with both of them and in the end they seemed to have a deep connection just out of thin air, if something else went on they did not show us until the end.
Pointless cutscenes: Not a single memorable cutscene from this game, I dare to say you could play the whole game without the cutscenes and still know what went on and what you have to do.
Repetitive missions: I like the way the missions are more well planned and the fact you can execute them in unique ways, but in the end they're all the same! Kill, sneak, kidnap, run away. Too linear, apart from the very last mission there isn't a single memorable mission with exciting cutscenes in the middle that make you eager for more.
Present day story: "There will be present day on Syndicate" the producers said, "It'll be amazing" they said. Are you kidding me? not a single useful thing went on in present day, not to mention the crappy cutscenes with no actual interesting info. I thought they would at least save the moment were they go after the Shroud to make it playable and more story revealing. But no all we got was a bad action mini movie. This is a core point in the AC series for me the most important and the one that makes me patiently wait for another game, it was all going well until Black Flag. and then they decided to stall from there on out.
Overral I rate this game 7/10, and I'm just going to fire some final shots here.
AC3 which was deeply criticized at the time is still better IMO than Unity and Syndicate together. Why? Connor although a bit dull still made us more attached to him due to his harsh story, and the present day story on that game was overwhelmingly good, it was the game where all was revealed, all we got since then was a reminder of what happened in the end of AC3. (Oh ok Juno is trying to become physical form, rule the world, there are the re-incarnated sages which posessed her husband's conscience, fine!). I seriously want to see more development in that field, and in a PLAYABLE FORM. From the end of this game it seems present day story will finally start to unravel, I hope so, we've had enough stall games for Ubisoft to make money from.
Please don't be ofended by my opinion, I liked the game, more than Unity at least, it's pretty enjoyable and fun game on its own, but once you compare it to previous titles, I'm sorry but it ain't gonna cut it.

Best Assassin's Creed ever (at the time of writing)!!! At the very least, Syndicate has the best city of the franchise AND the best characters since Ezio (I still miss that man. That man was legit).
So you're going to say the game had a bad ending without even telling us why it was a bad ending. I thought the ending was perfectly fitting for a game like this which is a whole lot more lighthearted than it's predecessor Unity.

This is more of a traditional Creed game than Black Flag. If you have the option I would definitely start with 2 and follow through with the whole Ezio trilogy.
Black Flag is a better game, but it isn't really "assassins creed" in my opinion.

Just completed the story mode yesterday. I really enjoyed it and the game is much better than Unity. However though the game is very easy. One of the easiest Assassin's Creed game i have played. I wish the game was a bit more challenging.

To be honest this review is pretty decent for once
I like this new assassins creed game! I started the play it and literally couldn't stop and ended up playing it 3-5 hours on sunday(couldn't keep track). It's so much fun with all the new activities you can do like rescues kids from factories(which I found really historical), riding carriages, and creating gangs! It's a blast and the two main characters make it perfect for me.

Just love the combat, just wish they'd make another one with martial arts and well polished hand to hand combat
they were back to being on the right track with this one ... some people hated that they didn't include multi player but it gave them more time to focus on the game play with a single player component which helps out a lot
i am going to completely agree with you, AC is a series meant to be single player. multiplayer in primarily single player games takes away from the experience.

I basically feel the same about every Assassin's Creed game I've played. They all have many fun missions, and many dull and boring missions. And I usually end up feeling the same after each game is finished. Sad, and ready for the next. I sometimes wish the side missions were mandatory for completing the games. Because the games are never very long when sticking only to the main story missions. Black Flag was my favorite because of the naval combat, controls and islands (and pirates, shanties and tavern songs). I just finished Unity, and that was the most difficult of the series so far. Not only because of the guards killing Arno SO much easier than usual, but because of the clunky controls. I can't count how many times I was trying to escape the guards, and Arno would climb a wall, and I couldn't get back down fast enough and died. Seriously, Arno just flat won't freakin' fall off of a wall in the heat of panic and frustration. That game had me cussing SO many times.

I just miss actually feeling like an assassin. The latest games make you feel like just some character wearing assassins clothes, it doesn't feel like you are a part of the assassins order.
