Finally a great and professional review for Mi A1 after tons of Indian reviews!
Seriously the presentation is awesome, especially the cinimatics
Thanks!!!!
Great review! Love your voice too :)
Thanks for the unwavering support!!! Your comments keeps me going!
One hell of a Good review mate...Cheers
Thanks!!! :)
I like your reviewing style. You have a reviewer's blood in your veins!
Wow...loved how simply you kept the review...much better start for a channel
THANKS!!!
I love it, and I have been using Samsung until now. Since I am not a gamer, but use typical smartphone functions, it is a great buy and offers what I need in a new phone. As a photographer, the dual camera, to me, is great. Since here in HK, where I live, all Google features are available, updating my Samsung Note 3 was completely painless. Since contacts, gmail and photos were already stored by Google, changing the phone was a piece of cake. Photos are really sharp and videos are good as well. For the low low price (HK$ 1,799) what have you got to lose. Just came back from 10 days in China, and except Gmail and most other Google features didn't work, it remained trouble free.
Yes, it is made in China but the main market to now has been India. Xiaomi does not include a user manual, but you can loads of information from UA-cam from its users in India. They just offered in in HK early September and I think it will be later offered in the US.
Totally agree with this. For the price it's great value to me. The stock android experience will keep the phone running relatively smooth for a long time to come too!! thanks for sharing your experience with the phone!!!
Such a beautiful review man! I've watched it a few times now, addicted to this review!
The Android Nerd thanks man! :)
great video, nice intro, high quality, awesome, there's a lot of phone review, but this is the only video that focused on the smartphone, not the youtubers.. Thank You
+Ahmad Senaqib thank you so much for your kind comments!!!
Very good thorough review of many features and not just ga-ga glorifying the phone. Liked your analysis of the camera. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the comment!!!
Just placed my order... can't wait
Clean and simple review.. Subscribed..
+gsrinivas04 thanks!!!!
I have this phone. Gold version. And I love it
Nice! Sadly we only have the black version here, so no choice. haha.
Aishwarya Varma I also have gold version
Main goal for having 2 cameras is not the optical zoom feature but to take portrait photography.if you take portrait mode in daylight at outside with good lightening it would take really impressive photo just as good as DSLR camera. At first pretty disappointed when i know that this phone doesn't support fast charging but i recently realize that this phone surprisingly have really good battery life, with only 3080 it could run all day more than 26 hours without charging with screen on time around 5-6 hours, smartphone with the best battery life i ever used!also never facing performance and overheating issues.maybe that's why this phone doesn't need fast charging since the battery life with one single charge from 0 to 100% takes around 2 hours charging will give you enough power all day!
great reviews man subbed!
I ordered one of these and will be delivered here next Wednesday
Wish the battery was alot bigger like atleast it was 4000mAh.
I'll be happy even with 3,300-3,500. haha.
Crappy Crap buy powerbank
not really much a difference, i heard this device really does optimized to save battery
Mi a1 battery will last you all day long easily. Furthermore it takes less time to charge
Nice review bro! thanks!
Alex Hong Are you crazy this phone is made in heaven 😂😅
Wish the home button were an hardware button. It is too easy to tap while typing. I hate on screen buttons so not all bad.
Wish the volume for the background music was a tad lower, it sounds like it has the same volume as your voice. Other than that, sweet review!
Thanks for the feedback, will definitely try and be more mindful of the background music volume in future videos! :)
Seems not to have compass either. I assume that in google maps you will be displayed simply as a dot without actually showing direction?
Just wondering does the noise cancelling microphone get activated during video recording (causing audio distortion or smth)? I think this was a problem with some Xiaomi phones...
Hmm. I checked the footage I had and it sounds like the ambient noise was a little choppy.
There's very aggressive noise cancellation that causes a lot of artefacting with the sound, particularly prominent when you try to record the screen with sound recording being recorded from the phone's own mic
So far, the only Xiaomi phone that I've tested where the noise cancellation isn't that aggressive is the Mi Max 1 - it's sequel, the Mi Max 2 is a very bad offender when it comes to sound recording (it's my daily driver)
Alex Hong it doesnt for me
adding QC 3.0 and NFC, this will be the best workhorse smartphone
I like how loud notifications and speakers ringing, but voice calls a bit louder on Zenfone 3
Hi alex, I'm from Singapore, I heard a lot of reception/network/signal issues for this phone? Does the signal bar changes every time? Do you have this problem after the recent update?
+tripmehard when I was using it the wifi wasn't that strong but it didn't posed any issue to me in day to day use though. But I don't have the phone already so can't really test it out much. maybe better to check with the local forums in HWZ. There is a forum dedicated for the Mi A1.
Alex Hong thanks for the super fast reply man appreciate it
Plss tell me which one is better mi a1 or honor 7x
0:0-0:14 I thought it was a miA1 commercial😅
@Alex Hong Do u feel the heating while phone is in charging or while you play game for more than 20 mins not high graphic game normal once?
Not really actually. it gets a bit warmer like pretty much every phone does, but other than that in normal use or playing simple games, it's not a problem. :)
Alex Hong well my last device was from Samsung it has 2GB ram only and also other apps running in background but that device don't get heat up. In A1 right now I'm using it from 12 days it gets to 40C while I play same game I used to play on my Samsung device.
maybe it feels warmer because it's a metal body? Like when i compare it to the Google Pixel, the Mi A1 doesn't get as warm as easily.
Tomatoland and KMS! Hey there neighbor! :D
Super tempted to either get this or the US version of the Moto G5 Plus
Hahaha. Hey! Those two would be pretty close. The Mi A1 would probably have better software support, but the G5 Plus has better camera I think. I also like the smaller size, but build quality wise, Mi A1 is much better. But the G5 Plus is a little more expensive and I would go for the local G5 Plus just for the NFC support though. But if NFC isn't an issue, i would go Mi A1 though, just for the software updates
Alex Hong have you tried how long the long exposure setting is for the A1's camera?
I loved that the Mi Max 2 could pull off 32s :)
+Zeph Ng hmm. Seems like only able to go as slow as 1/15s? Which isn't really that great. Maybe it's a limitation to the dual cam setup?
Alex Hong hmm, I suspect it maybe if the sensor used is capable of it or otherwise (case in point, Redmi Note 4 SD Vs Mi Max 2)
1/15 is very limiting if one intends to use ISO100
is there an option to change network mode from '4g/3g' to 'only 3g'
very nice review and great video shot.
Thanks!!!
i have to agree, the video shots on this are exemplary.. and i liked your review, great job!
This or the Huawei P10 Lite?
Xiaomi mi a1 or Asus zenfone 3? both have similar specs and zenfones prices have been slashed down. what do you say?
+Himanshu Singh for me it'll still be the mi a1 for that cleaner software experience though.
Alex Hong thank you.
sadly.. lately my mi A1 just encountered some issue.. which is the phone misinterpret that I'm charging over USB while I'm actually plugging the charger on the wall socket (it should be AC instead of USB :( )
Plz suggest whixh phone to buy. Confused between Mi A1 and Nokia 6......
That's a touch choice. I think Nokia 6 will have faster updates, and better build quality. But Mi A1 is probably the safer bet even though the software update might be a bit slower. Nokia's camera app isn't good. Also it would depend on the price i guess.
Alex Hong thnku so much. M goin fr Mi A1
What about camera performance? Better on Redmi Note 4X?
Yeah, i'll say it's better than the redmi note 4x for sure. but not by a huge margin.
Is it better than moto g5 plus, build & camera
Really great video......
Where did you get your set from? Shopee?
lazada sells them too
+Zane L qoo10 actually.
heyy @alex_hong ive read people complaining bout dead pixels after heavy usage...is it true...? is this device made from cheap hardware materials...?
O.O I haven't encounter that actually. Since the device is still so new, I think it's probably of manufacture defect rather than heavy usage. I didn't have any issue with my unit, and most of my other Xiaomi devices are okay though. The phone definitely doesn't feel cheap though. Not as high end as like Galaxy S8, but better than you would think for its price.
Alex Hong thnxz for clarifying...please let us know its issues and defects if u can...that wud b helpful.
Rahul Akella you Indians continually bash the Chinese about this phone. Dafuq is your problem if these units are made in China?
Skroeder Skroder i did not mean that way...i just wanted to know...if it feels premium...as Chinese manufacturers tend to reduce cost by using cheap hardware.. i was talking bout the overall product quality...as the product itself is very affordable...i did not mean to criticize Chinese products bro.
How is the audio quality from the speaker.I see most of the reviewers skip this aspect ..
It's considered louder than a lot of phones I've tested, and speaker quality is decent to me. Just that it does distort and crack a little at louder volumes. :)
If Mi A1 had 4000 mah battery I would buy it. This is the only thing I didn't like.
which car game was that you were playing...please answer as i want to download that game!!!
Real racing 3! :)
"the proper navigation button"
yes it is. shame they put capacitive button, even the back key is in wrong location. deal breaker for me.
The RAM management seems way better than Redmi Note 4X running MIUI. I can't have a game and Chrome open without the game closing
Curi0 may be you are using global stable rom....you china stable or beta rom for better experience from miui....
Mr Android Guy yeah it is global room but if I install China ROM I will loose Google Play and get Chinese ads / spyware ?
Curi0 Not at all,I am using china beta rom for 3 weeks and I must say it is far far better than global rom in everything....I didn't get any Chinese adds or spyware at all and the installation process of Google play services is so much easy, you can install the Google play store and all the Google play services from mi app store in just 1-2 minutes.....
Mr Android Guy will the global bands work ?
very nice review
+Abhishek Verma Thanks!!!
Is mbl have miui interface ???
your shown at 4:15
+T Town Talkies oh. That's just a screenshot ya. For Mi A1 it's only stock Android. If you want MIUI, can just go for Mi 5X.
this or iphone 5s?
main problem, network capacity pteity low,and low light performance bad
Do you watch GreenHamGaming by any chance?
I don't actually, but i'll check it out? haha.
Alex Hong very recommend channel! Also I thought that you watched him because of the font you used for the text in the video is the same as his
Should I wait for redmi note 5 or go with mi A1. My priority is battery life . Do reply 😊
well, even the redmi note 4 has better batter life than the Mi A1 already, so if that's your priority I think it's better to wait. Mi A1's battery life is pretty average. :)
Note 5! Hopefully it will come with big battery, 18:9 bezelless screen, dual cam, QC 3, sd660, unique colors
Than it will be costly
brother i am using daily apps more than 150 apps and i used the mobile roughly and i got daily 10000 whatsup sms and i am asking you that which is the best mobile redmi a1 or lenovo z2 plus or moto g5 plus ? amoung which is best?
siva kumar I think you should go to the next level phone. Like Mi 6.
Would second Jaywin's comment. I think a slightly better phone would be a better option like the Mi 6, or OP5. those would give you a much smoother experience especially when you have tons of apps.
Saw that M1 card. Singaporean confirmed ;)
which camera r uu using
to shoot these videos? just an old Canon EOS M ya. :)
another phone i aiming, but dont like the back button on right side
Agreed on the buttons - they need to go away altogether. The only thing they do, is make the phone look cheap.
Eh, still consider it to be a good replacement for my iPhone 5S.
Yeah. Pity they decided not to take the effort to at least change the button design. :/
I think they made it their button so the world know it's from xiaomi
haha. maybe. To me i think they did that just because they didn't change the hardware at all, so they can just reuse Mi 5X parts and cut cost. haha
Totalimus it is only your opinion
Mine and many others.
Mi a1or mi max 2?
Jeremy Ye if you don't mind miui, and using the phone more for multimedia content, I would say the mi max 2. The big battery, screen, better speakers, will make it more enjoyable. If you prefer faster and cleaner software, or you don't want a huge phone, then the Mi A1 would be the way to go. :)
Alex Hong MIUI is bad or still acceptable? Cause now I’m using iPhone X. Saw mi a1 review quite good. That’s why thinking which one to go for
Jeremy Ye MIUI 9 is not that bad in terms of usage and performance actually. There are still some bloat, and some apps that can't be disabled, but it's bearable still. But of course stock Android will still be my preferred choice. If you're getting it as a secondary phone, hard to go wrong with either. 😅
Alex Hong ya man I still don’t know which one to choose for hahaha. I like the size of mi max 2 but I also like the pure android one UI haha
Jeremy Ye hahaha. Then you have to decide what is more important to you already. For me I'll probably still stick with stock Android experience.
I thought it was updated by google and not by xiaomi. :\
is it possible to put a 256gb microsd in it.
Chan Kok leong no. 128gb is max
Thumbs up
I'm using this device for past 1 week ... For me my previous Redmi note 4 was better ...
You forgot to tell the price
At the time when I posted the video the official price wasn't out for Singapore yet. Mine is an export unit, so the price is different. Also different country has different prices too. haha. But anyway, the official price of the phone is SGD$349, around US$255 as of this comment. :)
Alex Hong wow the price of the Mi A1 is suprisingly cheap and it's still a great device I must say. By the way thanks for telling me, the videos is great, I love it.
yeah. for the price, there's a lot that can be forgiven about the phone. haha. Thanks!!!
Nice info
Review......👌
Serious network issue, bulk Faulty Radios. Quality check is too bad.
Game name?
It's real racing 3. :)
Nice
For that price, I'll just get Kenzo AND Mido or wait for note5
Got to be singapore,,, u r sgrean
Yeah. Singaporean here. :)
Alex Hong dude, are they official in singapore or just an export set???
Hey there! That's a pretty good price. I got mine at a higher price. haha. It's hard to say since they haven't started selling them yet. But you should be able to just get accessories for the Mi 5X as well.
haha. i'll check out shopee more then. haha. normally i use qoo10. thanks!
Ahaahaha i guessed ure singaporean too.. Well done..
Compare with pixel in term of software
+Brendan Lee haha. If got time can consider doing. 👍
No nfc and fast charging :(
Fanserker neither FM radio.
Try Moto G5 S Plus it's better than MI A1 Moto has stock Android better camera better customer care and service centre base Moto is much more durable than MI
Not a phone to capture videos
why?
agree. it is superrr shakey compared to iPhone for example.
Very vague overview I would not call this a review
Bro moto G5S plus is more better than this handset 😉😉
No its made in china dude 😂😂😂
Sucks the colors looks washed out.
is it made in China? I thought mi a1 was made in India???
+Mothi Chandar that's probably for the ones sold in India. The ones sold in other countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, are probably made in China. Not that there's a difference anyway. :)
Isn't like all technology made in China ?
Curi0 mi a1 sold here as made in India
Mothi Chandar Maybe just assembled in India since all the chips and stuff are made in China
thats true
no nfc tat sucks but hey u did a review on this phone 😂😂😂
+Jia Jiunn Chin yeah. Huge shame really. Like Android one phone doesn't supporting Android pay. 😂😂😂
Alex Hong next review the pixel 2?
looks nice phone except 2 features NFC and fast charging. If it comes with these features then it would be great.
This is a budget phone then why u so much complaining. I'm very happy with this phone
This phone is a joke. .slippery cheap metal useless battery no multitasking when video calling no data video call ..a piece of crap
perfect comment 👌😀
tolis bergidis all wrong
