My Bose NC700 is finally having issues after 4 years of daily use and was going to get the same old Sony/Bose/Sennheiser ANC cans. But thank god i looked around and saw that the bathys was on sale for $400!! Definetly worth the extra 100-150 compared to other ANCs. To my all australian bros, get em before they run out! The A2A website also have sales on literally all focal and naim gear as the guy i spoke to at the store said that they are losing their rights or exclusivity to sell those two brands because focal is switching up their strategy and is looking to clean their stock ASAP. 10/10 easiest recommendation at this price
Got these back in April and were really impressed. Sound quality, especially on DAC mode, is fantastic. ANC is good while other features are decent. Build quality, comfort, and fit are good.
I think these are a great value. I have friends who drop a thousand dollars on golf clubs and 2 hundred on shoes. If I had the money I'd snatch these up really quick. Awesome review i gotta say you seem to be in a really good groove and that's good for all of us. 💯👍🇺🇸 Thank you. 🙏
I just got my Bathys last week and I LOVE them. They have amazing sound , however with a caveat… This is subjective, but I’m a V shaped EQ guy and the flat EQ base settings left a little to be desired. After V shape EQing them, they are awesome. In regards to DAC mode , you lose the EQ functionality and to my ears my V shaped EQ Bluetooth settings sounds better than flat DAC mode.
Can you please do a direct comparison to Some of the other BestBluetooth Wireless Headphones 🎧 : 1)Mark Levinson No. 5909 2)EDIFIER STAX SPIRIT S3 3)Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Which one ☝🏾 of these above would you say is the best for HipHop and reggae musical genres? Thanks ☺️ much appreciated!
So here is my experience with the Focal Bathys. I loved to build quality. The ear cups were very soft and comfortable in the fit was perfect. The noise cancellation was okay. My two biggest issues were the Google Assistant never working properly. Even after two or three updates it still wouldn't work properly. My other issue was the sound quality. If you played music below 70% volume it was great. But once you went above 70% especially once the EQ was engaged then the sound started to distort particularly if the songs were older like from the '90s. Particularly if you listen to the Wu-Tang clan some of those tracks sounded horrible on these headphones. That's bad technology for something that cost $800. Even after two or three updates it was never fixed. The only hope was to never engage the EQ and even then it will still distort above a certain volume level. Even though I don't listen to my music that loud often but when I do I don't expect to be hearing distortion. Oh I forgot , my third reason is that the app would crash often and wouldn't connect to the headphones .That's why I had to send them back. I wanted to keep them so bad because the sound was 10 times better than my sennheisers but above a certain volume level they distorted and I am not spending $800 for that type of quality.
@@kendallsmith1364I have no such audio distortion like this person, so Id take it as 1 anecdote and look at other experiences. The app not connecting is fair, but tbh between the audio distortion and the app connectivity issues, I wonder what phone this person was using (not doubting their claims, but from my experience none of this has happened to me on a mid range regular Samsung s22
Strange. I have had mine for a few months now and they have zero audio distortion at all volume levels...and this is listening to some pretty heaving hip hop and house tracks. Are you sure yours are okay?
I'm curious how you'd find the Maxwell. I have a rocky relationship with Focal so I chose the Bowers and Wilkins PX8 over the Bathys, but for wireless I think the Maxwell may be more compelling than both.
@@rukydeez1030 Taste and preference mostly, I won't say anything disparaging about the brand, I never had a driver failure, I never had channel imbalance, I never experienced clipping, but with their closed back they all have an odd mid range emphasis to my ear and a skewed/narrow soundstage. The Bathys apparently is a different tuning than other closed Focals and I'm assuming that would be due to it not relying as much on acoustic dampening for tuning and more on DSP, but since I've owned the Elegia, the Radiance, the Stellia, and the Listens, I didn't have a lot of faith that their tuning choices for the Bathys would align with my preferences. I've also found their headphones difficult to EQ and have relied more on pad swaps. I love their design language, I the comfort and fit, but try as I might their tunings always make vocals sound wonky to me.
I'm also curious about sound comparisons with the Maxwell and also the Edifier Stax Spirit S3 I bought for Prime Day (no ANC on those, though) and maybe others like the PX8 and whatnot.
I cant imagine any issues youd have with Focal that would turn you to Bowers and Wilkins, a brand full of even more issues and overpricing hardware lol Not that Focals don't have flaws, but yeah just confused with that one
@@PantsaBear Have you owned both? I haven't had any issues with a PX7 S2 or a PX8. I didn't have issues with my Focals either, but I discussed that in a prior reply. I don't disparage brands, I've owned and own HiFiMan, Meze, ZMF, DCA, Sennheiser, Focal, Fostex, Chord, iFi, JDS Labs, Schiit, I have an array of dongles, I have IEMs, I've not had an issue with a single piece of audio gear failing. I've had stuff that over time just wasn't to my preference so I've sold it, but I've been collecting gear for the last 4 years and haven't had a hardware problem. Does that mean they don't exist? No, but my experience in ownership leads me to believe it's not something worth working about. I tend to research what I buy, and make sure I know the return and warranty policies. I appreciate the concern but I quite enjoy my Bowers and Wilkins headphones.
Too big for me, I use my headphones for EVERYTHING, Calls, Workout, watching tv series on my break, and gaming, they are to big to be moving them around places, that is my opinion, I bet there are a lot of people that this headphones are their favorite, is good to have variety.
Hey would anyone know why in DAC mode these do not play any higher than 48Khz on Amazon unlimited on an iPhone 15 pro max updates to the latest iOS, even with 24bit 192kHz or 96kHz content?

Codec is almost never as important as great tuning/quality of drivers (unless you're having stability issues) Great headphones are great headphones, and something like LDAC just gets you that 5% of better sound. But it's hardly mandatory or something many people even notice without A/B testing
I ordered the Studio Beats Pro and I own the Airpods Max for over a year. The reasons I didn’t choose the Bathys were the cheap earcup replacement holders and most of all, the very cheap looking control buttons with no design to them
Not impressed about the bathys. Though I was never impressed by focal most high end headphones. Headphones are just inferior to IEM. which is the best between Ananda BT, Focal Bathys, and Audeze Maxwell?
Thanks for the great video gamesky, wish i had the money for these. Really wanted them :)
So I have 2 questions. 1. Can you swap the earpads? 2. Would you choose these or the Audeze Maxwells for daily use & gaming?
