Al Bowlly's In Heaven

I love Richard Thompson's music, but I'm very wary about performing any of his songs because his vocal style and guitar playing is so individual and - I think - impossible to replicate. However, having had this song on my brain for years - a sort of perpetual earworm (!) - I thought, what the hell - I'll do it in my own way. It's a great song - reminds us that today's heroes are often forgotten and scorned when their achievements have passed. I've changed the key to Cm - the original (Dm) being too high for my old voice - and I've added a little bass line, just to keep me in order. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!

Let me admit to ignorance of Richard Thompson's music prior to now. This song hurts to hear, which is no doubt what the composer intended. LOVE the bass line, and love your performance, although I'm sitting here with tears stinging my eyes.
