Yeah, I was pretty late to the Game Informer podcast (maybe the last year of it) and when it all fell apart I knew I gotta see what he does next - and it sure became something great 😊
The Chernobyl/Chornobyl thing is a cultural difference. Chernobyl (also like saying 'THE Ukraine versus just Ukraine) is more the Russian/Imperialist way of looking at it, versus Chornobyl and Ukraine are how the locals say it. Also for example the city of Kiev (most say Kee-Yev) should be just Keev. The devs, all from Ukraine, made this choice after the Russian invasion.
Ben, what your referring to (the mark to aim/shoot at to hit a moving ship) is a "Lead indicator" It is a feature in most flying combat games, and especially space shooters
OMG ADVENTURE TIME CARD WARS!!! I remember that game! It unlocked that memory hearing Haley describe it, it was such a fun game! It was one of the few iOS games I put HOURS into. I wish it would return.
Breaking my heart right off the bat not mentioning Darkest Dungeon 2, Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus, and Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn all in July. All those games look GREAT
My favorite part of the money episodes is some could bid low and end with a huge stack of games. Maybe introduce a rock mechanic where if you're the only one who tosses a rock, that are infinite, you get that game. But if a bullet is fired you're outmatched. All the other rules stay as is, you can just add some of these smaller games that otherwise people are to afraid to bid on because they're saving bullets. Allow people to show love for the small games too
Black Myth Wukong looks like it could potentially be game of the year lmao (not saying it will be, but its Steam's #1 most wishlisted game for a reason). Appreciate Jacob making sure thats getting covered as it'd be very odd to not do so
The six-shooter format *truly* is a thing of genius*, Ben. Highlights things better, makes it memorable, gives voice to everyone, covers every side of the industry. Easy Allies does this too for example, in yearly quarters, and I can never for the life of me remember _all_ that is covered, Yet with the 6-bullets format, I do! Thank you MinnMax :) --L&R haha miss Huber, he mentions y'all all the time in their podcasts too now
Thank you for answering my question about the menu tabs! I agree with you on there being a map button. There is a game, I’m forgetting which one at the moment (maybe The Witcher III?), that has a great feature. If you do a long press on the menu button it takes you directly to the map in the menu. That is just great UI design. 1:49:58
2:18:56 There were four shark attacks at South Padre Island in Texas on the July 4th this year. Theorized to be the same shark over and over, and possibly due to stress from Hurricane Beryl. Some sources say the last attack was in 1977. Others claim as recent as 2017, depending on how you define South Padre Island. But never four in one day. Anyway, sharks!
Great podcast! Would love to see Jacob explore the OG Xbox library a little bit. There are so many fantastic titles beyond just Halo and Blinx. Jet Set Radio, Jade Empire, KOTOR, Splinter Cell, Fable, Shenmue 2, Fatal Frame 2, Chronicles of Riddick, Timesplitters, Panzer Dragoon, Otogi. Just to name a few.
Always excited for the 6 bangers episodes. Fun way to remind myself whats coming out this year. Surprised Ben didnt save a bullet for Fantasian. I feel like 90% of my hype for that game is Ben talking about it.
This would never happen cause it’s totally unfair to you guys, but if the stakes were actually that you can only play the games you picked, that would make for an AMAZING podcast lol Also, imo Jacob wins followed closely by Haley. If only Leo picked The Alters and Ben wasn’t so old.
My list: Trails Daybreak (Tomorrow ahah) Ys X (Fall 2024) Fantasy Life i (October 10) Bloomtown ( Fall 2024, it looks so gorgeous my god) Keylocker (Summer 2024) Neva (2024) The Plucky Squire (I guess 2024 because of the recent previews) Ace Attorney Investigation Collection (September 6th) Dragon Quest 3 Remake (November 14th) Mario and Luigi Brothership (November 7th) Zelda Echoes of Wisdom (September 26th) :)
Apparently Stalker's subtitle was changed to 'Chornobyl' following the invasion of Ukraine, as it's the romanisation of the Ukraine form of the name, rather than the Russian.
Missed joke opportunity: when Ben said he hadn't heard Defying Gravity and Haley said it was on Glee, someone should have chimed in "and that's what you missed on GLEE!"
Bens Astrobot experiences were my early Uno on Xbox 360 days. Cocaine, sex, guns. Crazy stuff was broadcasted there. There was a leaderboard on that game too. Next to your gamertag was your rank if it was high enough. My highest was 42 and I played daily to stay there. The amount I played correlates with what I saw. I was a freak in my own right lol.
It would be great if you got some of the other cohorts on a New Show Plus to pick between the games that weren't banged and see if there are any people would love. There are definitely a lot of good ones that weren't chosen.
Man, they missed new Dragon Age: Veilgard, Flintlock, Akimbot, Star Trucker. Good episode though. Surprised there wasn't anyone banging for Ass Creed Shadows or Star Wars Outlaws or Avowed
47:25 next year, do one of these eps with the whole crew, make it a slightly special thing. doitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoit 🙏

Xbox! The PGR games were really good, especially PGR2 which also has a playable Geometry Wars cabinet you can access when you walk around your garage. I wish I could get another one of those, Forza Horizon is close, but not quite it. Every cross platform game looked and ran better on the system as well.
I think with Erdtree people are upset about the difficulty being further ratcheted up in combination with boss design decisions that are less enjoyable. Long combos with tiny punish windows, pattern breaks, armor, massive AOEs, bosses being so fast it breaks the tracking, these things make some of these fights more chore than challenge. That being said i love Erdtree. I just understand where folks are coming from.
Agree, it's not fun to have built your whole playstyle around being a caster and you're not able to use a single spell because the boss simply is too fast.
Absolutely, less build diversity for sure. I didn't even mention bosses having multiple insta kill moves and being kind of built around having a summon lol
Yes. Was it really necessary to go on another tangent for the second week in a row basically saying that anyone that doesn’t like this DLC is a toxic dum dum? It isn’t review bombing to not enjoy a game and rate it poorly. That includes not enjoying the difficulty. I enjoyed Elden Ring but it feels like this DLC has ratcheted up my complaints from it 10x. These bosses really just don’t feel fun to fight, being on your back foot for 90% of them. When I beat them, I don’t feel accomplished, just glad that they are over. I have other complaints, but I don’t want to go on too long here. And before I say anything else, I’ve beaten every other Souls game with no summons. The fact that I have to add this before people start dismissing any criticism to accuse me of being a bad player or whatever shows how bad this discourse is, just not in the way they are saying.
Great episode, really fun as always. I will say though that a small thing that bothers me is that people seem kinda hypocritical when it comes to wanting to know the exact developers that are working on Nintendo games. I mean nobody cares about the exact developers who make games at say Capcom, they are all just considered Capcom games, like could anyone say who exactly is making Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster? Also even if a developer was named for Mario & Luigi, what would that even mean? You might know the studio name but it's not like the studio name actually matters, what matters are the people within the studio, and I doubt almost nobody would recognize the names of the Japanese devs. Not really a gripe with you guys specifically but it's something that rubbed me the wrong way recently.
Next time when there is a duel, can you make it so that its an election that the backstage pass people get to vote and decide who wins. I would kill to hear and see leo have to give a speach.
I think Game Pass Ultimate and PSNow PC (PS Plus Premium) have ruined my hype over the years for their first-party titles, while my hype for Nintendo first-party titles has increased over the years. "Why doesn't Zelda just also have a weapon?" If Zelda just had a weapon, it could just be another LoZ game with a Zelda skin over Link. Sorry, but as a woman, I prefer a different tack.

A huge pet peeve of mine is exactly the thing Jacob brings up when Haley questions if the "Get good bros" and the "Elden Ring is too hard" people are the same people. Love ya Haley, no shade; East Coast represent. It's this terrible attitude and mindset that just reveals how little people think about it. And each time the people who want accessibility for those who need it and the people who want their hands held because they "Have" to play the trendy zeitgeist game and refuse to put any effort or thought into what they're doing are somehow treated like they're the same people. They are not. Then the people who are the insufferable get good bros with their myriad of house rules and "correct" ways of playing the game are lumped into the same category as those of us who just like the games Fromsoft make and don't want them taken away in service to something you can already get from countless other games. Games we don't like. Because we like the things about Fromsoft games you might not. These, again, are not the same people. Then everyone starts yelling at each other online except no one ever knows who they're arguing with or why because one person will voice an opinion on a game like Elden Ring for reason A and someone else will come at them because they hate reason B; a thing the first person never said and doesn't believe. But people are dumb and try to force everyone into two binary camps instead of actually listening/reading, caring or understanding what is really being voiced. It's maddening. That Indiana Jones cutscene is actually terrible and more people should be more discerning. The only explanation I can think of is people just weren't really paying attention since it's an ad and everything, but in the final release if it's the same thing then it's gonna be noticed. Assuming that trailer wasn't somehow misleading in that it was edited for time. Didn't seem like it, but maybe they did a terrible job making that clear instead.
It's genuinely hard to anticipate anything now that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is already out. Peak has arrived, come, and gone. I guess I'll just play it again after Eldin Ring.
1:43:58 ABSOLUTELY WRONG!! and he would agree if he knew, but they have HADES on ios netflix lol, they also have gta like come on, if only he knew how wrong he actually is lol. netflix has some really cool games in there that nobody is talking about, and this message flew over their heads lol they have dead cels, the new braid remake, some sonic games (shrug), death's door, katana zero, immortality (that's like a very Jacob game lol), TMNT shredders revenge, moonlighter, before your eyes, spiritfearer. I haven't even picked some of the mobile classics, ad free, like cut the rope or world of goo like into the breach is not for me, and probably why i felt so offended, but come on the defacto best game. LMAO they have sooo much more if only people cared to check out
Ben sure knows how to find the most genuine people. It shines through on all MinnMax content, but really stands out in this episode.
Yeah, I was pretty late to the Game Informer podcast (maybe the last year of it) and when it all fell apart I knew I gotta see what he does next - and it sure became something great 😊
I love the bang game episodes each year, mainly due to watching Ben struggle to explain the concept of the 6 shot mechanic to new cohorts/audience.
They kind of got straight to it this episode. Fastest intro period? Lol
The dream blunt rotation
i love ben but i think he might spontaneously combust after hitting a blunt
dream bong load rotation
@@_ack_ You don’t want to be loading the bong?

Jacob and Leo should absolutely play the old S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S.! They're great games that are also time capsules to the mid-2000s!
OMG ADVENTURE TIME CARD WARS!!! I remember that game! It unlocked that memory hearing Haley describe it, it was such a fun game! It was one of the few iOS games I put HOURS into. I wish it would return.
Fan of Outer Worlds here. Better than Starfield, anyways.
Breaking my heart right off the bat not mentioning Darkest Dungeon 2, Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus, and Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn all in July. All those games look GREAT
Great episode but you missed a big summer game. Flintlock: Siege of Dawn is out mid July.
Avowed, Kingdom Come 2, Metaphor, and Black Ops are my most anticipated for the rest of the year
My favorite part of the money episodes is some could bid low and end with a huge stack of games. 1:10:58 The faces they make are great. Using 'Bang' makes good out of context sound bites
on 33 immortals, i was part of both playtests they've done so far and it is fucking AWESOME. the 33 person multiplayer works really well.
21:10 technically Ubisoft said “it’s the first open world Star Wars game…. You can play as a scoundrel” 🤷♂️
Black Myth Wukong looks like it could potentially be game of the year lmao (not saying it will be, but its Steam's #1 most wishlisted game for a reason). Appreciate Jacob making sure thats getting covered as it'd be very odd to not do so
It also felt as if it was barely expanded upon seeing as it is a big big release. But, it's ok. It probably isn't for everyone.
They also had a physical card release of "Card Wars".
Does Ben know that every second word he says is an innuendo or is he just that innocent lol
I’m picturing Ben just playing games from the 90s and 00s, and watching documentaries in his free time.
One of my favorite podcasts every year
The six-shooter format *truly* is a thing of genius*, Ben. Highlights things better, makes it memorable, gives voice to everyone, covers every side of the industry.

Probably because it doesn't have a release date. Also... just my opinion... bioware hasn't released a good game in a very very long time
I know I was waiting for it :/
August 5: Fields of Mistria!! Bang! ❤️
For what it's worth, dungeons of Hinterberg is out in a couple weeks on game pass. I'm into it. Thought it would've come up

I think with Erdtree people are upset about the difficulty being further ratcheted up in combination with boss design decisions that are less enjoyable. Warhammer Space Marine 2?
Jacob Geller’s most anticipated first-person speedrunning game of the year? Madden 25 😏
Nintendo used to have developers credited - Camelot comes to mind with all of the Mario golf and tennis games, as well as golden sun.
You skipped Dragon Ball Sparking Zero?
"Why doesn't Zelda just also have a weapon?" If Zelda just had a weapon, it could just be another LoZ game with a Zelda skin over Link. Sorry, but as a woman, I prefer a different tack.
