Video Description -
Hi there everyone! Today I am unboxing a new budget studio strobe / flash from Godox - the Godox MS300 and Godox MS200. These strobes are also marketed as the Flashpoint BLAZ 300 and 200 depending on which vendor you are shopping with.
There are a lot of interesting things to say about this flash and I am current wrapping up my full review which will be uploaded shortly. But for now, I will be unboxing the Godox MS300 as well as going over a brief overview of the flash.
At roughly $120, this is a very viabale option for getting into studio strobe photography or off camera flash photography, in general. It does have its limitations, however, which I will get into during the full review.

Love all my Godox ms 200 and 300s, ad200, V1, And even Godox mic's! I'm a fan boy for Godox i guess you could say! lol..
I purchased two of these and they came with the 7" reflector bowl. Replacing the flash tube is very simple. Just unravel the wire that is located at the middle point of the tube and once done, you just pull it out, just like the Godox AD600 which I also own with the 2 x AD200's and a couple of TT685's and a couple of PB960's. In fact, the MS300 is so good, I used them for my shoot last week for Numero Magazine. As a side note, I noticed you had the plastic cover on while the modelling light was on...I hope you didn't melt the inside of the plastic cover. Also, the MS300 has a fan if the unit gets too hot.
Nice review. I use this light daily with shoots for my clients. Cant go wrong
Thank you for this video. I’m presently looking at purchasing studio strobes. I’m a fan of Godox products. Great quality at a very reasonable price. When are you planning a review on the MS 300? I love your videos.
Hi Richard! I am happy to be able to help out! I actually have already written my review I just gotta film it. UA-cam isn’t my full time, so I have a little bit of trouble finding time to film sometimes ☹️
But it is one of my next videos for sure!
Just started looking at these for my home studio. Thanks for video
I picked up one of those and it’s nice. I just sent for the adorama 200ws version partially because on the Black Friday sale it was $80 but also because 1/32 of 200ws is less than 1/32 of 300ws. It’ll be a more flexible system overall. Eventually I’ll probably have two of each.
How do you move the mount piece? I can’t get it to move
hillary navin you mean the part that locks on to the stand or the bowens mount for the light modifiers?
Thank you for sharing. I was looking into getting a couple of these or the SK400 II's to complement my AD400 Pro's. Think I'll pick up a couple of these instead.
Glad I could help you with your decision Sandeep! Humbles me quite a bit to know that I am able to help anyone 😅 so thank you very much for you comment, feedback like this keeps me motivated
When I first saw you, I thought you were Matt Kloskowski (Lightroom guru). Nice job. Good vlog. I'll be tuning you in regularly.
Hah well I’m happy you found me! I’ll have to take a peek at Matt
Great video Kyle, thanks! I’m debating picking up this ms300 or a second ad200 tone used mostly for in studio portraiture work. Apples to oranges?
Hi there and thanks! As for the MS300 vs AD200.... they aren't quite apples to oranges... but I think I have a thought that may help you. The AD200 is wireless, battery-powered, in that brick form-factor.... the MS300 is AC powered only, brighter, has the bowens mount, but no HSS. For studio portraiture, I would go with the MS300 as the key light and then use your AD200 as a more mobile light to move around your studio and mold the light.
PS have you seen my full review for the MS300? ua-cam.com/video/Qpt7TFyCghI/v-deo.html
Nice
hi, which one is good between godox ms300 vs sk300ii?
because I'm confused which one to buy. Thank you
Hey there, they are very similar, yes. The SK models are a bit older and have different power offerings. SK is a bit heavier and bigger. I would recommend that if you want a 300watt option, go with the MS300 instead of the SK300. Looking at the specs... they are nearly identical... but I always like the more recent models. 🙃
Mine stopped flashing. I honestly don't know if is the flash tube or the strobe itself.
What is tha difference between sk and ms wich is best for indian wedding photography
can I use other brand trigger?
This light available ah
how long is the power cable?
Great Video thank you. What would your opinion be pairing it with a godox 47" 120cm octagon umbrella softbox?
Thanks for the feedback! Literally just uploaded the full review and will be making it public shortly. As for the soft box, I use a 48” Westcott rapid box octa xxl. This flash is definetly powerful enough to take advantage of softboxes that large. It’ll work great!
Kyle Warren I am watching your video as we speak thanks for the reply keep up the good work stay safe.
@@SeeItLoud Thank you for your response. I am just a hobbyist I do shoot my daughter's cheer events with all the crazy unstable lighting but for me at home, I just own a TT685 that I love and I do have the XPro to go with it. I felt I needed a bit more power and I also want to learn about strobes and photography in general. Again thanks for the response I will be on the
lookout for that video cant wait.
@@SeeItLoud Hey how is that review coming along!!
@@therookiefisherman5234 ua-cam.com/video/Qpt7TFyCghI/v-deo.html By the time you see this link itll be up! Its scheduled for release today
Can the flash duration be adjusted? The specs list 1/2000-1/800.
Flash duration not adjustablle. Duration goes down as the power level is decreased.
I heard broncolor units have a sandwich setting.
Mine stop flashing where can I get bulbs and tubes for this unit
hi Eustace, this is actually something I mention being worried about in the video. I don’t know if you can easily replace the bulb or even where to get it. When I checked, Godox doesn’t list them on their website so maybe you need to go through support. I’d love to hear how that goes if you choose to reach out to them!
Does this have overheat protection?
Can this be plugged into 220V ? Thanks
Hey Dinesh, there may be a version with that available. But with my buying experience through amazon, that wasn’t an option. Mine came with the 110v stuff.
It can do hss?
Unfortunately, the MS300/MS200 do NOT have HSS capabilities. This is one of the main compromises with this flash, but given the price, it can be worthwhile for some.
The flashpoint version "Blaz 300" is actually advertised to have HSS. but its not actually HSS. It's weird
You need to change that bulb to a dimmable high output led bulb. Thank me later.
This thing is stupid cheap, I got mine for $80 and spend the rest for modifiers.
