I never can understand how developers can "lose" gameplay mechanics as the technology progresses.
By trying for going for realism (if that's even a thing in pro wrestling), they've lost all the fun elements that make a great video game.

This is the best wrestling game ever! I played 2k22 and its good but I got bored already, I can play hctp for the rest of my entire life and never get bored on it
That’s one thing about the 2k games it gets boring too quick and they limit everything to the point where you can’t really do much that’s why I haven’t bought the game at all they want the game to be realistic and that’s not how games should be I’m glad aew is making something like hctp because I was soo addicted to that game even tho If it was hard 😂

Might be nostalgia but, this to me was the pinnacle of the mainline smackdown games. The roster for both genders. The jank/charming but cool cinematics that only a Japanese studio could come up with. The music. So much.
Quit blaming nostalgia.. so much stuff was actually better back then. Video game companies and wrestling is some of those things.
1:29 I really like how it didn't do the neck break fall animation but it continued as the jackknife animation, sometimes it works and it looks better

I used to do with gore first or one special as Sweet Chin Music 2 then the second special as Buzzsaw Kick. Man that combo was clean.
I remember going to a video game shop 18 years ago with my friends on the weekends. We used to play Here comes the pain 6 players at the same time.

Whilst the graphics in current games are better the actual fun aspect has been missing for a loooooong time
I use to play this game almost religiously during my youth. Everything was just amazing. And no DLC or PRE-Order BS. The fact I can play Brock or Goldberg in the same time was just amazing. Not sure what happened to the current state of WWE games? But, I have to say this IS the best Wrestling game of all time.

I always thought it was funny how the superstars climbed up the hell in a cell cage like a monkey but took forever to climb up a regular cage.
I remember having a 4 year undefeated streak with HHH, all the belts possible and was the current Heavyweight, IC, tag team & hardcore champion when I lost the heavyweight Championship to Ric Flair in a last man standing match. He absolutely would not stay down lol absolutely epic game. I ran so many memorable career modes with Eddie, Rey, Brock, Taker, of course Benoit back before you know…best game ever
The ridiculous over the top nature of this game that makes it the greatest. You can just feel the impact of every move.
