God knows how many excellent classical guitarists on YT I have appreciated their hard work and interpretation with this magnum opus. And here I found Sharon's dynamics the way they should be, and probably the way the composer intended it to be played. A million *BRAVOS* Sharon.
What a magnificent artist! Superb tremolo, perfect tempo, very emotionally expressive. I can almost imagine myself in the Alhambra listening to Sharon play this at dusk on a summer evening. Congratulations to one of the world's truly great masters of the guitar. (I prefer Sharon's playing even to Segovia and Williams.)
Sharon people like you should never die ....... !!!! I have ninety years and still live to live again, and still to be able to still hear from you, always,..this !!!! You do not play the guitar you are the guitar playing Recuerdos de Alhambra as I have never heard ...... !!!!! Thank you....!!!!
Having heard over sixty different versions of this lovely masterpiece, I have to say her playing is absolutely amazing. It emanates out of her heart and soul , mesmerizes, elates, and takes you along with it into a different world.
Un vero miracolo. Una interpretazione magnifica, profonda e piena di colori. Solo con una tecnica superiore si può arrivare a questo grande miracolo. Complimenti per il tuo grande lavoro Sharon Isbin
Thank you, sweet spirit, for falling through time, and conveying such exquisite sounds to our mortal ears. You are so delicate and sensitive in your interpretation of this most difficult (for me, and countless others!) piece. I love your playing, and you are a gift to the sonic, emotional senses. JS
Many thanks for your beautiful Alhambra, Sharon! While many other professional guitarists have trouble playing the triplet part (or embellishment or trill) that appears here and there in this masterpiece---sometimes vanished last note and sometimes vanished first note in the triplet, yours is perfect as well as very expressive and delicate. Very impressive!
you're a great master, I also checked your asturias video, in my opinion you've played this piece better than other masters like john w. or p. romero. thanks mam.
The passion you feel in the way you caress the strings of your instrument sweet and tender at the same time, each note is givento the listener like a loving kiss.
Sharon, your playing was superb! I heard colors I have never heard before on the guitar. You not only play with wonderful phrasing, and with perfect technique, but you go beyond the notes, to the very soul of the piece. I know something about string instruments, being a cellist myself. You know how to get a brighter sound by moving towards the bridge. We call that ponticello, maybe you call it the same. But you use it to great effect. Your interpretation was spell-binding. The tears flowed from my eyes when you were finished playing. Thank you so much! Now I know why you are one of the greatest guitarists ever.
She meditates twice a day (TM)! Try her UA-cam title "Sharon Isbin - Asturias", it's the first interpretation I've ever heard that makes total sense to me.
Espectacular!!! tiene dentro el duende (que decimos los españoles) posee el alma, el arte de tocar, de fundirse con este instrumento. Gracias por tu arte!!!
Sharon, you played this in Erie for us as your encore with the Phil the year it was particularly poignant for you. This is a heart-rending recording. Will you come back, and perform with our Erie Chamber Orchestra?
With someone as devoted, skillfull, innovative, commanding as Sharon Isbin, the concert stage is at one, with the origins of the spanish classical guitar; however, this statement is purely subjective. It may reflect my six years of classical guitar study, and of having been to Oscar Ghiglia at Jordan Hall, Boston, and ( years later ), to Symphony Hall, Boston, to see/hear Andres Segovia! ( 1979, May ).
Sharon ( it's very much there in her playing, has studied long with Andres Segovia, Julian Bream, has established the Julliard Guitar Dept. and runs it, has played ( I think ) the Aspen Guitar Festival ( and run it ) and has played ( twice I think for the Obamas, and has been described as the Monet ( revered Impressionist Painter ) of modern classical guitar. Otherwise, just listen, and experience her sound, her texture, her expertise on guitar!

So buatifull
Good Lord
..belíssimo.
schön!
I wish i had her superb tremolo technique
I think she plays with 5 fingers and not as many guitarists with 4 fingers in the right hand. That could be an explication for this amazing tremolo:)
her stretch!
So much better than John Williams version...
I must say, Williams is a great musician, but while he plays Recuerdos de la Alhambra, Sharon IS Recuerdos de la Alhambra.
