Its crazy and tragic that we lost four 500 cc world champions/motocross gp winner, way too early, RIP Malherbe, Carlquist, Jobe and "the kid" Gebors, Danny Chandler, 1982 US GP winner, also gone😔😔😔😔😔
no, its not crazy. Its a self fulfilling prophesy, when you risk to the limit, and cross that limit from time to time, the inevitable will happen.... its still tragic.
Those handmade HRC bikes were (and still are) amazing works of skilled people. The riders equally as skilled. SOoo FAST! The pinnacles of rider/bike matched up perfectly.
Damn, I did not know André died and was paralyzed. I still look back at them guys from time to time they were the cream of the crop in the motocross sport.
I was dave thorpes age in the 80s. But between farming etc, I didn't have access to cable TV or time to watch it. So I missed most open class gp's. But I followed them on various mx magazines, thank God for mx magazines or I would have never known what was going on. I was a true motocross only fan. And I rode a little bit also. Thanks for letting me vent, I'm happier now. May all motocrossers and riders watching this have a lot of safe fun, okay? ''😎👌, okay. All I can say is WOW!!!. 😎👍.
I well remember the excitement of the racing. Look how basic the track side looks compared to now. We couldnt have got any closer to the action. Sadly the memory of the day was marked by whitnessing a horrific motorcycle accident on the ride home. Me and my mates all sold our bikes afyer that. My beloved 350ypvs just lost its appeal. I still wonder what happened to the people involved. No mobile phones back then to call help
Murray Walker started his career in 1948 commentating on a hill climb in Wales, followed by the 1949 British GP. He dId the Ilse Of Man TT, motocross, rallycross and truck racing. A true British legend who died in 2021 at the age of 97... We all miss him.
@@justinquinn5780 It was a sad day indeed when he hung up his microphone. He made sport exciting. Watch F1 today and it's like listening to my wife dictating a shopping list.

Proper mx, natural tracks non of the modern man-made tracks and of course two strokes.
.....yep.....modern mx tracks are too jumpy.
Alot more spectators back then
@@neillambourne8448 ....yep, in England, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Italy....massive crowds in France.
@@1969cmp alot more riders to.the gp gate line up is very poor these days.

Id do anything to wake up back in 1985 and for all this to have just been a bad dream.
The 3.place for Magarotto in the 1. Moto was a miracle for us in Italy....
