And of course Charlie went broody yesterday. 🙄😂❤️🐔
Oh no! She’s making up for lost time.😂❤Very sweet video…love these stories of your flock!
Charlie looks just like my violet ❤ and she is a tough girl hanging out with my gold tops and polish hens instead of the other silkies, first time she's got broody in over a year, only thing that snaps her out of it is literally sleeping in my bed with me 😅, I'm getting a group of quail tomorrow that someone hatched thinking they could sell them easily so unwanted now but I never turn any animal in need of a home x
she looks like lavender who I thought was a silkie boy but she started to lay eggs- lol
She's a natural intorvert..she only wants company with her own family 😂
Well that was fast 😂 the roosters were loving her a lot!! She’s absolutely precious thank you for taking her in and showing her your love and kindness ❤and teaching me and my kids to do the same ❤❤
Ofcourse you can help this chicken, you are the President! 💜
🤩
There is no way you could have passed the little one up! You are amazing!
Thank you so much!!
Charlie is so fortunate to have you!❤Thank you!
Wow! I had no idea Sovereign Silver sold their product, by the gallon- I'm going to buy some.
Aww, Charlie is a sweet little bird! Good on you for opening your heart and home for chicken in need, Chicken politics is often awful and seems so unjust. It breaks my heart to see sisters fighting, but that's what they have to do. What a relief it turned out so much less stressful than expected. You are the chicken whisperer, Madam President, and your grace shines like the morning sun upon your flock.
much love, i had no idea how i'd adore our girls until we had them. rescues? even more respectable.
She is going to be a happy girl! 🐓
Loved this video!!
It is very helpful for newbies and oldies:). I know even experienced keepers can get discouraged.
I’ve had to carry a broom at times and just park a chair in the backyard, while they acclimate. Obviously not to hit anyone, but to break up the bigger attacks. Integration is not easy, for sure.
Ohmy that made me smile!
I love your calm demeanor and looking forward to learning more chicken tips from you unfortunately we lost a hen this morning to sour crop and my husband and I are sad about it
I’m so sorry for your loss. That’s hard! ❤️
I brought 2 old hens into our flock 2 months ago . They out lived their owner… it was 3 days they were caged and our flock grew again. I Love this video! I’ve learned so much from you and I appreciate you!
I’m home all day; so I’m with my gals. We also have ducks 3 Indian runners and 3 khaki’s .
After the 3 days we brought out the old ladies out with ours… beautiful momma (Wyandot) and feather foots ( her breed starts with a b) ( bantam?)brain fart lol both were separated on their old homestead. Though we can’t keep them together everyday in a coop or in the run, in my backyard together they do very well. and everyone gets along well. ♥️ It’s working out. And all our gals are spoiled. 🥰 I’m only into 4 years of keeping chickens. No roosters here - 1 year with our 6 ducks. I Love it!
Charlie is having QUITE the adventure!
That went well! Wonderful!
Great advice to separate/quarantine!! And to be home all day when you let the bird out. It may be easier to integrate her with a subpopulation first than with the whole flock (and the roosters). Keep her with the smallest or youngest birds in your flock and she will make friends !!! 🥰
Lol it was so funny seeing Ebert and Bubbalicious doing their mating dances lol 😂 Glad she made friends with Beaker. 🥰🐔
That was my favorite part with Bubba and Hebert! 😂❤️
You did great! Thanks for rescuing the little cutie 🥰
Thank you! 😊
I just want to remind anyone having to integrate chickens to not give up. It literally took me over 4 months to finally do so with my miss fancy. It was horrible to watch them pick on her to the point they drew blood and she would play dead. Talk about stress! Many times I would go to the coop and see her flopped over like she was dead but no she was just waiting for the other girls to be let out, then she would make a mad dash for me. But it’s been a solid 4 nights with her in the coop at night with no issues. I used the dog kennel in the coop method , during the day they all free ranged with no issues. So hang in there guys it’ll eventually happen!
Good job! That’s awesome!
Her little posture to you warmed my heart ♥️ We have a new mini rooster who we’re having trouble with. We lost our sweet boy a couple of months ago to heart failure, devastating. We knew our girls needed a new man. But boy, he’s something else. Gorgeous! And a bully. He terrorizes our standard size hens. To the point of ripping at their combs & drawing blood & pulling out head feathers of the alpha hen (my favorite of course). He’s not mating, just hurting. He’s down right abusive. He’s amazing with the littles & they adore him. We know we need to rehome him & that’s a bummer because otherwise he’s a great rooster.
That’s tough! I’m sure you can find him a good home. ❤️
Welcome to Chickenlandia, sweet Charlie girl ❤ ❤❤
Lovely it’s like a sanctuary for last chance birds
I just adore you and your sweet cause to love on God's little creatures❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I lost my granddaughter over a year ago. Her name was Charlene but everyone called her Charlie. Now I have a great grand baby named Charlie. Thank you for bringing a beautiful memory back and a big smile on my face. Your chicken Charlie is beautiful. I just love her. I raise chickens but only for the eggs. We don’t kill them because their pets. I love watching all your videos. I’m a long time subscriber. Thank you for teaching me more about chickens. I have a mixed flock and probably about 45-50 chickens.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your granddaughter. Thank you for the beautiful comment! ❤️❤️❤️
Looking forward for updates on how she is doing. That was a pretty good first day. You got this.
Thank you!
Hey Mrs. President, thank you for sharing all of these interesting life events that is taking place in Chickenlandia... Charlie is such a beautiful little lady and her doggie friend sure did toughen her up!🥰
❤❤❤!!!🎉
She doesn't know how to chicken! We had a kitten that grew up with our dog, he didn't know he was a cat until we got another cat. Even years later he still had more dog like tendencies. My year old hens are getting chased around from my main, 19 week old rooster. Doing what roosters do, they are not so submissive to him. They don't want to free range in the area of the yard where he hangs out at. He will chase them down, for mounting. I've never had roosters before and am wondering when/if the older hens will accept him as the boss of the flock. Thank you for the update, I love seeing all of your chicken varieties.
They probably just don’t like his horndogish ways but he should calm down a tad after this initial surge of hormones. Sometimes it just takes a little time for things to settle down. It sounds normal to me. ❤️
@@WelcometoChickenlandia Thank you! I was starting to worry.
The "Prancercise" clip!! 🤣🤣
Sorry, late to the show 🤪.
Loved this video. ❤️
Welcome Charlie 🤗
I have no chickens but oh I love them so much .Watching this was better than any movie .Real drama with many personalities to learn how to make a lone chick feel good about herself ..Liked so much 140 and sending you and all your amazing birds best wishes .Great job 👏🏻
❤❤❤
The Nintendo jump sounds and running noises had me dying !!!! Lol another great video Madam President. Welcome to Chickenlandia, Charlie !
I totally saw the UFO this time !
❤❤ omg thk u for putting this out I need it. U yes I get it. It’s so hard.
Glad you posted today. I lost my beloved rooster, Honk, to a predator Sunday night. I am absolutely devastated. Cannot stop crying.. but I know everything has a season.
Charlie is in excellent hands. ❤
I'm so sorry. I am happy for Honk that he was so loved.
@@granitemoss1451 Thank you for the kind words.
@@Bee_Thankful Thank you so very much. I will miss him terribly the rest of my days.
We feel your pain...we had a beloved rooster who was so gentle and kind to us and his girls...he was from our first ever flock. Our kids loved on him every single day. He died the night after Christmas, and we arent sure why, but we brought him in the house from the cold, and talked to him and told him what a good boy he was. When he passed, I took it harder than even the kids did, and cried for days. Losing little innocent feather family members is heart wrenching😢😢. Just know that your feather baby is up there in Heaven roaming free and happy! Maybe that's sappy, but ....lol
@@heidiandbretz9867 I love sappy.. so It helps. I'm taking it really hard. I appreciate your long reply and kind words, means a lot. I am sorry about your rooster, they are like our family aren't they. 💕
LOVED this much ♥️ You are amazing.
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for saving lives. Wishing your operation gets nonstop blessings ❤️😊🙏
This was an excellent video on integrating a new chicken to the flock. Great footage on the interaction with the chickens and Charlie to show us what to expect. It was comical too. I give props to the editor also. 🤗❤️
Thanks for this. Its good to know what to do and what not to do.
The flock packing order can be stressful for a new chicken
Especially especially just one bird against a whole flock
AWESOME VIDEO!
Introductions always give me stress. Very helpful video!
THANK YOU!
Same here! We have about 16 pullets in a small temporary coop, and fenced area, but we know we have to get them down to the big coop with the rest of the flock. I'm stressed about it
@@heidiandbretz9867 What has always worked for me is introducing them slowly. I let them see each other through fencing, or a large crate inside the run for a while before I set them loose.😀
You are so welcome!
Thanks for sharing the process of introduction. Visually seeing it is better than people just explaining the situations that occurs. This was very educational.
I agree totally! It is hard to watch. I probably step in too soon.
Glad it was helpful!
Just a suggestion that what might help is letting them about an hour or two before they roost. I let my turkey out around 7 and then lock them all in around 8:30 or 8:45, but again this is just a suggestion
That’s actually what I did but I forgot to mention it! It was about two hours before dusk. Just seemed like the whole dang day because it was so tough lol!
So sweet! I am getting a black non-hooded Silkie I about a week along with an Ayan Cemani. I am so excited. They are so sweet.
I had 16 chickens , and I lost two. One had died after our bad Strom we had, sadly a few weeks later, one more got sick, I was giving her TLC, but one morning, I found her living down, I know she loved the special care I was giving her it was over two weeks of trying almost everything for her, a few days before she passed , she put her head around my arm , I know she was saying thank you ❤ chickens are sweethearts
I’m sure she was saying thank you as well. ❤️
@@WelcometoChickenlandia thank you 😊
Lol going for a prance?🤣
You don't have to get rid of your birds just because you have to take to the road. I have three two young very inbred polish and one extremely cross beaked non standard Americana hen. As long as you have a lead bird who knows everything but can't really hurt anyone like a cross beaked Americana that bird will buffer individual birds as you add them. You still have to do slow introduction and not leave people alone by themselves at first but Then after awhile of helping everyone emotionally regulate themselves it works out.
This was such a cute & awesome video I really want some more silkies & a frizzle I have one solid white silkie hen “Silkie Momma” I’ve been terrified I’ll lose her for some reason or another but so far so good had her 10 months so far same as my other chickens. She even hatched out 14 Polish Silkie hybrids & they’re like lil piranhas when it comes to food hanging from a rope like corn on the cob or a head of lettuce & my polish babies barely have a clue it’s food like it’s too much work to have to jump for food lol. “Ya I be trying to train my chickens to do tricks lol” & it’s been fun have a few of them jumping nearly shoulder height for a bite of a slice of bread “they love the everything buns lol”
She's so pretty! 🥰
Do silkies generally get poopy butt feathers? Wondering if you have to rinse off their behinds.. 🤔
Where did you get. your coop for the single chicken? Love it
U r so funny! I love u
We have 2 teeny, tiny, little eggs in an incubator right now. They are due to hatch within the next 24-48 hours. I really want to just put the eggs under my broody hen who’s been patiently waiting on another egg (not gonna hatch). Is it unsafe to take the eggs from a controlled climate & put them out with her today?. I mean, after all, she too is a controlled climate 😂. I would just rather her take over & do what she’s supposed to do for her babies. Any advice from anyone would be great! Thank you chicken family 🙏🏽♥️
Don’t take them out right now. Let them hatch and then put them under your hen once they’ve fluffed up and can come out of the incubator. This video should help: ua-cam.com/video/c7bbRLW-GnI/v-deo.html
@@WelcometoChickenlandia thank you! I’m also reading pages 160-165 in your book. I’m so excited for this I’m about to burst!! They are the offspring of our little bully rooster. So we’ll see how it goes… our mobile chicken vet has a new home for him to go to. Thank you for your help, I don’t know what we’d do without you most of the time 🙏🏽👏🏽🐓🤍
Hiii
I want a tiny chicken but being my ladies brought me 18 grandpeeps so far. I think One of my ladies is sitting on some more eggs. So who knows if I might be getting more. I still want one🐣🐣🐣
Do you close the door of her temporary coop during the day to avoid her hiding there from the others? I'm now doing the integration of my three chickens, and I feel a bit lost. 😅
I had only 2 hatch in a incubator due to a bad storm and 3 days of no power waa able 2 keep my incubator going but only 2 made it they are now 6 months and just not fitting in tried them both in both of my chickens area they are liked by none of my chickens this has never happened to me had 2 new ducks put them in at only 2 months they fit in very well and liked by all ducks and chickens.
My meanest roo is scared of my girl ducks
QUESTION 🎉 How do you kerp grass in your run? I tried seeding in, 2 weeks protected, took 3 days. I'm gonna try turf, but I'm hoping for any pointers.
Big question... The rooster/hen ratio is driving me crazy. We have a separate coop and run for our small and Bantam birds (Araucana, Cochin, Silkies, Sebright, Paduanas and mixes).
The thing is that Blacky, a young Bantam Cochin Rooster is being hormonal and mean with our Silkie rooster (only two males) and not even Lachesis is working and I feel bad because I had to separate him with one female he is nice to, but leave the other 9 hens and the Silkie rooster in their coop and run. Blacky is living temporarily in my quarantine coop, but I feel so bad because I need to decide what to do and I wish they could all live in on area peacefully.
Any ideas? I have a broody Silkie on eggs and two British Ameraucana females will be joining this group in about a month... What to do?
Are they drawing blood on each other? You could try the flower essence vine and/or chicory. My top rooster Zorro can be a jerk to my other two roos but as long as he’s not drawing blood on them I just try to give them a lot of enrichment and space. With roosters one is always going to be on top and it can be a challenge.
@@WelcometoChickenlandia Yep, there was blood and since Llollo is a pom pom with all his Silkie feathers he is at a loss against Blacky.
I have not tried Vine or Chicory. Will wait until we can order some. Thank you.
Good morning ☀️. Today is my day to integrate my 23 week old bantams (4 hens and a roo) with my 4 standard hens (13 months old). I will have plenty of celery on sticks and watermelon for distractions. That roo is protective of his flick so thinking I should put him in last. They have been side by side for 5 months. What are your thoughts??? Any other words of wisdom??? I have three Easter Egger hens and a duckling that are 3 weeks old. I will leave them inside for now. But, for the other 9 it’s THE GREAT INTEGRATION and I’m scared but going for it. Any advise is welcome, please.
I know hens show dominance but i was upset to see my hen mount the other about an hour ago. Im nervouse to combine the flock since these two hens are standard size and the rest are bantams. This hen is loud too, i want my sablepoot rooster to be top bird and for the ameracauna hen to stop being so dominant, i want her loud crows to stop. Truthfully i just want everyone to get along, but im more than certain my sablepoot roo will dominate the duccle rooster. Is it too risky having two roosters in a flock as well as a large dominant hen, or would it all work itself out?
Do the roosters know each other? Introducing a new rooster to another rooster can be pretty difficult.
@@WelcometoChickenlandia they're pretty much just neighbors lol only seeing each other through their windows that are pretty close together.
Dhalia i have baby duccles she could mother! I would love a couple or three to come to you!
Haha that would be so fun but unfortunately I really can’t risk getting any new roosters. ❤️
@@WelcometoChickenlandia I totally understand! Lol they are a bit young still to vent sex. Perhaps I will reach out again when they're a little older and I'm more certain.😁
Do you ever worry about bringing a new bird in and having to quarantine it for 30+ days to assure it doesn't introduce a disease to your current flock?
