    Excellent video, I love watching you do these sculpt overs, because either I learn something new, or I am reminded and refreshed of different things. So freaking cool, please keep coming out with these videos, specifically these with fantasy creatures. So much love!!

    The problem I found when taking photo's for textures / alphas is that it is higher up where the light areas are and lower down where light doesn't hit, how do you remove the light detail so you only get the height ?

    Is there nothing to be said for the charming idiosyncrasies that come from pulling anatomy out of one's ass? :p
    That's not to defend it, I just think there's some really interesting and iconic designs out there that explicitly are interesting and iconic because caution was thrown to the wind. Then again those specific cases like the original xenomorph or Godzilla are ones where abstract design was (probably) a part of the brief.

    Do a video about what u must think about presantation of your work . For a client , for a portfolio for artstation etc . How to render properly and what are the most critical parts u need to think in order to give your work a clean presantation . Do a video about that :) as always awesome job , the only think i would disagree is that the lower jaw had to be a litle bigger. Other than that its a perfect video breaking down the steps on detailing the wyvern-dragon creature. Thanks for the amazing content u are really helping people out there to achieve their dreams.

      the whole design is very humanoid and not optimized for flight... I personally would take something like a pterosaur skeleton and mix it with a crocodile or a lizard and exaggerate certain things to make them "work"...

    Hi my sirs i want to ask why we spend time on wrinkles and detail when we retopo the character all the detail is gone then we texture the detail

    • @Harikrishna-tj9om
      @Harikrishna-tj9om 5 років тому

      that texture is created based on the details as colour maps(if poly painted) and normal maps

    • @BrantAugust
      @BrantAugust 5 років тому

      When you sculpt the details in zbrush, you export the zbrush mesh to retop in maya. Then in zbrush you bake out normal maps (this will help you transfer the detail to the maya retop), and color map will bring polypaint information to the Maya retop. Save the maps as targas or PNGs and put them on your Maya retop.

    In the mouth it's not really a membrane, but jaw muscles (pterygoid muscles) I think if you are sculpting a dragon dinosaur muscle reconstructions could also come in handy.

    Personally, I think if you guys like reference material so much, thats cool, but please stop pushing that it is the only way to create. Replication isnt the only form of creation. Just my opinion :P

    • @Ryzawing
      @Ryzawing 4 роки тому

      It's not really replication though, it's approaching realism. You need a certain level of realism to make creatures believable even if they are dragons. It's not really a way of making characters but rather a way of applying impressive detail that looks realistic :P I know what you're trying to say, but a lot of creature designers have an inspiration of a multitude of real-life animals to get a creature that's out of this world. See HTTYD and Avatar, etc

    • @philistineau
      @philistineau 4 роки тому

      Way2Close you are making excuses for poor design and calling it art. Yeah, you can create muscles in any direction you want, but anyone who has put in the work will tell you it looks trash. Put in the work. Just my opinion. :P

  • @lopantolulu

    2:20 Bad analogy. Evolution is the opposite of design, In-fact evolution theory was developed to explain away design. To design by definition is to plan/decide with intent. Evolution, a mindless phenomenon, can't produce any "designs" because only a mind can be intentionally perceive or create designs.

    • @lopantolulu
      @lopantolulu 4 роки тому

      @Finley O’Connor The issue is that the mutations which increased the giraffes neck are oblivious to the height of any leaves. Since lack of leaves cant cause any genetic mutations in the neck, we cant possibly say they have long necks to reach leaves. If not for the random existence of tall trees they'd go extinct. Design is deliberate providence/foresight,evolution is accidental randomness/dumb luck. The only purpose in evolution is mindless mutations and mindless selection, that's why anything evolves ever.

    • @philistineau
      @philistineau 4 роки тому

      Lopanto Lulu wrong. Evolution is absolutely about saying giraffes evolved long necks to reach tall trees. I don’t know what point you are making, but it isn’t one grounded in evolutionary theory. Take a class in molecular biology and then we can talk.

    • @philistineau
      @philistineau 4 роки тому

      Lopanto Lulu your opinion isn’t one grounded in facts. Mutation as a mechanism is random. That doesn’t mean selection is random. In fact, it clearly isn’t random. I think that is where you are confused. The mutation and the selection process are biologically completely different.
