Charles needs to read Twelve Years A Slave in which the slave, Solomon Northup recounts how evil slave owners read the words of both New and Old Testament from the Bible to prove that god intends for them to be slaves. Charles also needs to read where Jesus said that he does not change one jot or tittle of the law, which includes the Old Testament support for slavery. Charles also needs to consider what Jesus never said. He never said Do not keep slaves. He could have, but he didn't.
Charles would use the typical "but that's the book, not what jesus said" cop out to squirm out of the trap he keeps setting for himself. (when. . . the only way anyone knows what jesus *might* have said is contained in the same book that's wrong about so many other things? okaybud. . .) You couldn't get it through this guy's head if you wrote your points on a 2×4.
Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglass and many more recounted their lived experiences as slaves whose masters used the Bible and religion to justify their evils. There are hundreds more available for free to read in the national archives
Nice pick. But I´d take it further and be more general. Charles needs to read and learn to discern. He needs to think if those fuzzy warm teachings of all his life are supported by what he reads and sees. But Charles might not be willing to do it because the Bible does not make mistakes, Jesus was perfect, and all of those among us who say differently are ignorant and evil demons who want to eat his soul. It´s pretty cool to be the hero of your own imaginary world.
Jesus never said one word, He would have to be an actual living human being to have said anything and literature shows very clearly no such person existed. Stop making statement`s with out evidence please. My family on my das side goes back 65,00 years, where the fuck have the middle eastern gods been , why are the gods of misled east only in the middle east.
Jesus told his prospective followers that it was harder for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven and that they should therefore *sell* all of their possessions and give the proceeds to the poor. This wealth would have included slaves as these were counted as chattels. He did not, however, tell anyone to *free* slaves so his injunction would have resulted in such slaves remaining in slavery under another master. Matthew ch 19 vv21-22: "Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions."
God is more than fine with slavery he even said in the bible that the only reason he wanted Moses to free the Jews was so that they could worship him, he didn't like the Egyptians forcing them to worship idols, other than that he had no problem with it.
considering the story in the bible is that humans were created specifically to be worship slaves for it's insecurity, of course it's not against slavery...
I also love how he goes into preach mode as soon as he’s cornered. I get the feeling he really hasn’t gone into debates where the opponent can actually, you know, debate well.
Usually the case is that they have heard an apologist's argument, think it sounds absolutely convincing and repeat it. Due to their lack of critical thinking, they don't realise most arguments have been debunked many time over and over again. In that, they are very much like flat earthers.
He hasn’t been in a debate at all. Most people don’t know what “debate” is and Charles just throws unsubstantiated claims out based on his emotional entitlement and desperate need to be told everything he thinks is objectively moral.
Cynthia, I admire your grace in the face of a graceless and insensitive position. Your humor in the face of [OMG What?] is a special kind of brave. Thank you :)
For anyone who doubts that Christian beliefs upheld slavery here in the United States please read Chief Justice Taney's majority opinion in the Supreme Court case of Scott v Sandford, 1857. Not the final holding of the court, but the 40 to 50 pages of dicta that Taney expressed, I was absolutely shocked when I first read it!
Because people that are raised to be apologists are trained to not care about what’s true and not engage. They’re to be propagandists and further their disgusting agenda.
I like hearing people describe world history when they've learned it all from their church. It's always so entertaining and you're almost always guaranteed a "WTF!!!" moment.
I wouldn't say that Jesus was pro-slavery. The way I understand he was an anti-property apocaliptic prophet. So keeping people in chains for personal profit is not very alligned with his ideology. Even quotes like: "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God" is a sign that he was strictly against wealth and signs of it. Slaves were considered property of wealthy and as such he couldn't be endorsing it and not be a hypocrite - which admitting, being a hypocrite would be a very Christian thing but nonetheless... The reasons why he doesn't mention slavery probably just shows his disinterest with worldly matters such as politics and property. He would also get crucified instantly if he said that there shouldn't be slaves in Roman empire - but for all the little we know, he might as well have been crucified for that - crucifiction was most common punishment for rebeling slaves, Romans wouldn't give a damn about him breaking Jewish religious traditions. I am atheist by the way.
@@andyhx2 (according to the Bible), Jesus mentions slaves _repeatedly._ The standout for me is in the Parable of the Unmerciful Slave/Servant (Matthew 18:23-35): He indicates that the punishment that is appropriate for a slave who was an a*hole to OTHER slaves after his owner was nice to him, is to have him TORTURED for an extended period. And the "moral" is: just like the slave DESERVED what he got, if you don't forgive others, then you'll deserve ETERNAL TORTURE. What was missing was a verse 36 that said: "Oh, and by the way, DON'T OWN PEOPLE!". If you read it, you'll see that he was ABSOLUTELY comfortable with slavery (and torture for minor crimes). Having read this _common_ parable, any Christian trying to argue that the Jesus character was anti-slavery is simply lying.
@@blarglemantheskeptic It's in the name. It's a parable. The point of the story isn't how you should treat slaves if you want to get into heaven. It is how God will treat you if you do not behave. “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.” God's authority over man explained in a simile of human made authority relationships. But I have no stake in this so whatever...
Charles is the worst case of brainwashing that I’ve ever listened to. It’s very sad to hear him trying to justify slavery let alone the treatment of women. By the way, the punishment for rapists is that they had to marry their victim. I can just imagine Charles justifying that by saying it was the kindest thing to do because the women and girl victims would have been shunned because they were no longer virgins and therefore not worthy for marriage. Who made a society like that where women had no voice and no choice? His cognitive dissonance is amazing. He doesn’t care about the truth, he’s in love with the fantasy of Jesus. In his mind Jesus can’t be wrong so it must mean we have got it wrong, or we’re interpreting it wrongly. Read your bible, Charles, it’s man made.

I remember being confused as a 7 year old, and asked mom why Allah allowed slavery to go on after he/she/they/them sent the last messenger to mankind ? Why he forgot to add stop slavery ? Does that mean Allah is Ok with slavery? Got the usual answer "shut up and never think too much about God." There was the answer I needed to not take prayers and fasting seriously. Thanks mom! As you guessed, She is a devout Muslim alright!
Allah allows for slavery?. Quran [5:89] GOD does not hold you responsible for the mere utterance of oaths; He holds you responsible for your actual intentions. If you violate an oath, you shall atone by feeding ten poor people from the same food you offer to your own family, or clothing them, or by FREEING A SLAVE. If you cannot afford this, then you shall fast three days. This is the atonement for violating the oaths that you swore to keep. You shall fulfill your oaths. GOD thus explains His revelations to you, that you may be appreciative. Quran [58:3] Those who estrange their wives in this manner, then reconcile thereafter, shall atone by FREEING A SLAVE before resuming their sexual relations. This is to enlighten you. GOD is Cognizant of everything you do. More instructions for muhammed and muslims to free slaves Quran [58:4] If you cannot find A SLAVE TO FREE, you shall fast two consecutive months before resuming sexual relations. If you cannot fast, then you shall feed sixty poor people. You shall believe in GOD and His messenger. These are GOD's laws. The disbelievers have incurred a painful retribution. Quran [7:157] "....follow the messenger, the gentile prophet(Muhammad), whom they find written in their Torah and Gospel.* He exhorts them to be righteous, enjoins them from evil, allows for them all good food, and prohibits that which is bad, and UNLOADS THE BURDENS AND SHACKLES UPON THEM. Those who believe in him, respect him, support him, and follow the light that came with him are the successful ones." If as you say that Allah allows slavery, then why is he telling the muslims to free them whenever they can in the Quran?.
Jesus did not fear "people walking away" when he told the rich man to give away all his wealth. Why then would Jesus avoid telling slave owners to free their slaves?
Pretty sure Jesus literally used parables to essentially say the relationship of God to its creation was a master to slaves. And of course he goalpost shifts at every turn here, engages in tu quoque, in whataboutism, in any kind of deflection

Charles is also totally wrong about slavery in Jesus’s day. The children of slaves were slaves. They didn’t do any war crime or incur any debt, yet they were slaves.
Well, there was a carve-out for Jewish *male* slaves who had to be freed at certain times. Unfortunately, there were other verses that allowed that Jewish male ‘indentured servant’ to ‘voluntarily’ become a real chattel slave for life by marrying and having children with a slave woman while he was ‘indentured’. He had to choose his freedom over staying with his family. Real nice guy, this god of which you preach! 🤬
And Jesus sayeth unto his disciples, _"all authority in Heaven and on Earth is given to me of my father. But, not really...well sort of.... it's complicated."_ After he had spoken these things, they beheld as He was taken up and a cloud received him out of their sight. They began to scratch their heads in wonder asking _"WTF just happened?"_
And it's pure evil and wickedness what they teach to children. Perfectly acceptable to tell your child they are a disgusting sinner and will burn for all eternity unless they are devout God fearing Christians but not okay for a man to love another man. Then they have the sheer audacity to say "God is love" fk you Christians and fk your sadistic evil God too.
It sets my teeth on edge when people think "reading the Bible" will prevent you from making the mistakes of the church. What. The hell. Do you think. THEY. Were reading?????
"Thou shall not kill." -God The people were killing each other anyway. Why did god even bother with that commandment if he knew they were going to ignore him? The excuse, that god knew he wouldn't be able to stop his people from sinning, so he didn't bother outlawing slavery, is ridiculous. You can take every commandment, and ask why would god bother with any of them when he knew the people were going to break them.
The christian tenants are perfect for humanity. Really? Daughters can be bought and sold: If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do. Exodus 21:7 A raped daughter can be sold to her rapist: 28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives. Deuteronomy 22:28-29 Collecting wives and sex slaves is a sign of status: He [Solomon] had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. 1 Kings 11:3 Used brides deserve death: If, however the charge is true and no proof of the girl’s virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. Deuteronomy 22:20-21. Women, but only virgins, are to be taken as spoils of war: Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man. Numbers 31:17-18 Menstruating women are spiritually unclean: 19 “‘When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening. 20 “‘Anything she lies on during her period will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean. 21 Anyone who touches her bed will be unclean; they must wash their clothes and bathe with water, and they will be unclean till evening. 22 Anyone who touches anything she sits on will be unclean; they must wash their clothes and bathe with water, . . . 30 The priest is to sacrifice one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. In this way he will make atonement for her before the LORD for the uncleanness of her discharge. 31 “‘You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place,[a] which is among them.’” Leviticus 15: 19-31 A woman is twice as unclean after giving birth to girl as to a boy: A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. ‘ 3 On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. 4 Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. 5 If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding. 6 ” ‘When the days of her purification for a son or daughter are over, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a dove for a sin offering. Leviticus 12: 1-8 A woman’s promise is binding only if her father or husband agrees: 2 When a man makes a vow to the LORD or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said. 3 “When a young woman still living in her father’s household makes a vow to the LORD or obligates herself by a pledge 4 and her father hears about her vow or pledge but says nothing to her, then all her vows and every pledge by which she obligated herself will stand. 5 But if her father forbids her when he hears about it, none of her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand; the LORD will release her because her father has forbidden her. . . . . A woman’s vow is meaningless unless approved by her husband or father. But if her husband nullifies them when he hears about them, then none of the vows or pledges that came from her lips will stand. Her husband has nullified them, and the LORD will release her. 13 Her husband may confirm or nullify any vow she makes or any sworn pledge to deny herself. Numbers 30:1-16 Women should be seen not heard: Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 1 Corinthians 14:34 Wives should submit to their husband’s instructions and desires: Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Colossians 3:18 In case you missed that submission thing . . . : Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Ephesians 5:22-24. More submission - and childbearing as a form of atonement: A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women will be saved through childbearing-if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety. 1 Timothy 2: 11-15 Women were created for men: For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. 7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9 neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 1 Corinthians 11:2-10 Sleeping with women is dirty: No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. 4 These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they remained virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among mankind and offered as first-fruits to God and the Lamb. Revelation 14:3-4

I haven't even started on slavery, murder, the stoning of children and homosexuals, incest and genocide. I couldn't care less if the truth makes the bible look bad. The abrahamic christian god is either a moral thug or he doesn't exist and all those "laws" were made up by men. Which do you think is most likely?
God can say Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not commit adultery. And say Thou shalt not worship false idols even though worshiping false idols was a huge part of the culture. But he just couldn’t say Thou shalt not own another person. Because it was part of the culture. That’s the nonsense apologists spew.
And all those other laws, like refraining from shellfish, pork, mixed fabrics….why not a really USEFUL law that would have actually benefited people? Like, thou shall cover thy mouth when thou sneeze or cough! Think of the millions of lives that would literally have been saved by that one simple law? Huh…it’s like these laws were written by Bronze Age primitives rather than some “God” who, being god, should have known a thing or two about germ theory.

The amount of enslaved Africans brought to Brazilian probably rivals (or maybe even outpaces) the amount of enslaved Africans brought to North America.
An all powerful God does not have the power to not just end slavery, but to never allow it to occur. As far as man's hardened hearts excuse, why could God harden Pharos' heart in Exodus to keep him from releasing the Israelites, but not soften his heart to make release them?
Matthew ch 19 vv21-22:
"Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions."
Abolishing slavery was Jesus's best move after inventing the Internet! Loll
Wow. The mental gymnastics Charles is doing right now is incredible. He should win a 🏆!
God specifies in the bible where the slaves can be bought, and that is OK to beat slaves to death, so long as they don't die in the first day or two.
Notice how he just ignored d Egyptians & chose d Jews 2 reveal itself 2 .
I also love how he goes into preach mode as soon as he’s cornered. I get the feeling he really hasn’t gone into debates where the opponent can actually, you know, debate well.
Or actually knows stuff.
"I sure can beat my 12 year old nephew in my religious debates, maybe I should call Talk Heathen and set those sinners straight!"
I surmise that it comes from years of dealing with this same b.s.
Charles: "All Jesus ever did was break the rules!!"
Also Charles: "Well, he had to behave according the laws of the time…"
@serversurfer6169: " Contradiction Charles " lol😅😅😅
I knew the bible was used to justify slavery, but I didn't know it was expressed in a SC opinion. I'll check that out, thank you for the information.i
How does a caller manage time after time to get everything completely wrong?
Because people that are raised to be apologists are trained to not care about what’s true and not engage. They’re to be propagandists and further their disgusting agenda.
Brain damage??
When religion and apologetics replace actual education, this is the result.
Home schooling probably.
A requirement of christianity is to be not very smart.
I like hearing people describe world history when they've learned it all from their church. It's always so entertaining and you're almost always guaranteed a "WTF!!!" moment.
Cynthia's cool, I like her. Eager to watch more videos with her in it.
The mental gymnastics Charles employs are awe-inspiring.
*Challenge for biblical slavery revisitionists:* Quote a single sentence from Bible, attributed to Jesus, that says anything like: "Don't own slaves".
Jesus absolutely hated slavery!
*I come not to change the laws but fulfill them*
Oh wait, nevermind.
"Slaves obey your Earthly master as you do God in heaven"
Wait. Crap. That's the Opposite of what you asked for.
The Bible "has nothing to do with the words of Jesus." Hahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂
Yes, but also, "I have a book for you to read, the NT"...
Charles cannot keep his own opinions straight.
So Yahweh could tell people to not wear clothing made with mixed fibers, but it couldn't tell them to not own other humans?
It literally ADVOCATED slavery and set rules on how best to enslave people.
Or the creator of the universe bothering himself with a hairdresser dilemma of short or long hair for men and women.
👏 👏 👏 👏
I never understood the mixed fibres rule, totally bonkers.
@Dog Walker Follow the money. The law was probably established to protect somebody's economic niche and granted religious sanction.
PLEASE have Cynthia on more. Amazing personality and her facial expressions made this video ART
When your god of love is also your god of war. It can get very confusing for some individuals.
How is anyone stubborn enough to "low key" condone slavery?
I think he was pretty upfront about it
Brainwashing/indoctrination, that's how
Brainwashing/indoctrination, that's how, Also I wouldn't call that "low key"
"Slaves obey your masters..." It's in the New Testament at least twice.
Wait to you hear from Dave from California. A perfect combo or brainwashing & assholery.
Ohh then you should try to find the call with Billie from Australia. Now that is brainwashing!
Hey dude, Jesus just had a bad weekend. Hardly a sacrifice
We've all been there. Go out on a Friday for a meal with friends and maybe a couple of beers. After that it's a bit of a blur and you wake up on Monday feeling like you've just recovered from an autopsy.
I’m thinking Cynthia and Dan have read the New Testament more often and more in depth than Charles every had. Charles probably has done nothing to research and prove wrong or right, what he has been taught. He just accepted it without question because it’s what he wanted to hear.
It's quite likely he never read it. Seems the more a USA christian is convinced of things being in the bible, the less they actually read it. It's just what the pastor said, or what they decided should be in the bible...
@@nagranoth_ No, they’ve read it in part. They have bible studies and other gatherings, where they read specific, chosen verses. And the clergy have answers ready for anything that may contradict what was read previously. Newer versions of the bible are written, without the prose, in plain, simple words easy to manipulate into anything these cult leaders want.
Yet he never said “don’t own people” and he should have, if he thought slavery was wrong.
We don’t even know for a fact that he existed at all.
Dont rape people and dont own people. Should be easy.
Instead, we get "if you rape someone it costs x shekels," and "here is how you get slaves."
That doesn’t explain the passing down of slaves to children after the owners death. They are owned as property. It’s wrong.
@@sammur1977 so no one else was freed? Israelites shouldn’t have been separated at all. If god created all, why distinguish at all?

Cynthia, if you ever look at these comments, i would LOVE some suggested reading on this. Thank you for your patience with people like this, i know it takes a lot of energy to do.
so according to charles, god can tell us straight up to not kill, steal, be gay, eat shellfish, wear mixed fabric's all that trivial stuff.
but when it comes to slavery something i would consider to be nearer the top of the ultimate moral being's list of priorities, he's like, yeah no gotta go step by step with that one.
As I Canadian, I apologize for Charles. I’m embarrassed
Fine. When are you going to apologize for poutine and Buffy St Marie?
I didn't realize there were that. Many and some as fanatical as American "Christians"

Without religion almost like north west Europeans
Cynthia McDonald, very nice engagement with the caller! Objectively Dan & Cynthia McDonald you guys make an excellent duo! Salute
Same tin here, my mom is Christian
More instructions for muhammed and muslims to free slaves
Quran [58:4] If you cannot find A SLAVE TO FREE, you shall fast two consecutive months before resuming sexual relations.
Those who believe in him, respect him, support him, and follow the light that came with him are the successful ones."
If as you say that Allah allows slavery, then why is he telling the muslims to free them whenever they can in the Quran?.
Jesus abolished slavery... JK Simmons laugh activating. 🤣
“Those are the words of Paul, not the words of Jesus.”
A few minutes later: “Here’s the words of James.”
You are a great team together !! Good work ! You guys
Jesus did not fear "people walking away" when he told the rich man to give away all his wealth.
Why then would Jesus avoid telling slave owners to free their slaves?
I love to hear theists say that their all-powerful gods avoided confrontation....
Pretty sure Jesus literally used parables to essentially say the relationship of God to its creation was a master to slaves. And of course he goalpost shifts at every turn here, engages in tu quoque, in whataboutism, in any kind of deflection
Now that you've pointed it out
You're right. It makes all of the analogies the "prophets" used much more gross
He uses parables to describe just about everything. Especially concerning gehenna and sin. He has a severe penchant for the allegory.
Jesus's silence on the issue of slavery is deafening
Don't worry about convincing your callers. You guys present a good case for the people watching.
An excellent example of just how spectacularly wrong a person can be, while being utterly obvious to it.
The Bible approved of slavery, set its rules & never outlawed it.
Even as a christian, I absolutely HATED the buy-bull.
It made me SICKK!
I feel I'm not a very good atheist, due to the fact I don't know the book, nor was I a good christian, because I never loved god.
So my victory (becoming atheist) doesn't seem like much of a milestone or much to be celebrated. The only thing different is that I confermed to myself what I already felt, which was doubt and nonbelief.
The only support I had officially becoming atheist (as of 2019) was the Atheist Experience & shows like this.
I thank you very much for doing what you do for people who really need it, and for the people who didn't know they needed it.
I like how you guys argue on his playing field (doctrine), even though it can't be proven, and you cook him.
Watching Cynthia's facial reactions is so delightful.
Great presentation guys! As usual, you had to deal with a Theist convinced of his own thinking on matters. My old grandmother used to say, that the idiot cannot learn, but the fool refuses to learn. Not sure which category your caller fits into, but it's definitely one of those!
Sounds like he is both.
Leviticus 25 44-46 is pretty clear on the bibles view of slavery
Thanx for your video.
Always awesome Seth❤
So god/Jesus can tell men to cut off their foreskins, but didn't tell them to not have slaves because they wouldn't obey?
If Jesus taught anything, it's how to be a good slave. Good, obedient, submissive, law-abiding slave who does what he's told without asking questions.
The U.S. absolutely doesn't say it's a Christian nation. Some Americans do, but the U.S. was clearly founded secular.
Jesus freed ZERO slaves & never opposed slavery.
You know that the caller is not arguing honestly when they will not answer direct questions.
Cynthia is a nice addition to this show..keep up the good work both of u.
It was fun to hear a christians who "confessed" Jesus was below Ceasar and therefore also below the roman gods.
And Jesus sayeth unto his disciples, _"all authority in Heaven and on Earth is given to me of my father. But, not really...well sort of.... it's complicated."_
After he had spoken these things, they beheld as He was taken up and a cloud received him out of their sight. They began to scratch their heads in wonder asking _"WTF just happened?"_

No need for specifics. Any book. Seriously.
I'm about 1/2 way through the Oxford Dictionary, good stuff.

Wow, what a view. Its amazing what is taught in church.
"Thou shall not kill." -God
The people were killing each other anyway.
So according to Charles, he would have slaves if it wasn't for Jesus. That means that he would be ok with owning another human being.
There is no record of Jesus writing anything at all.
Andrew isn't a troll, just has the intellect of one.
God this dude calls in under so many names. He might as well be a slave himself with how often he's being owned

The christian tenants are perfect for humanity. Really?
Daughters can be bought and sold: If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do. Exodus 21:7
A raped daughter can be sold to her rapist: 28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives. Deuteronomy 22:28-29
Collecting wives and sex slaves is a sign of status: He [Solomon] had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. 1 Kings 11:3
Used brides deserve death: If, however the charge is true and no proof of the girl’s virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. Deuteronomy 22:20-21.
Women, but only virgins, are to be taken as spoils of war: Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man. Numbers 31:17-18
Menstruating women are spiritually unclean: 19 “‘When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening. 31 “‘You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place,[a] which is among them.’” Leviticus 15: 19-31
A woman is twice as unclean after giving birth to girl as to a boy: A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. Leviticus 12: 1-8
A woman’s promise is binding only if her father or husband agrees: 2 When a man makes a vow to the LORD or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said. Numbers 30:1-16
Women should be seen not heard: Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 1 Corinthians 14:34
Wives should submit to their husband’s instructions and desires: Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Colossians 3:18
In case you missed that submission thing . .
1 Timothy 2: 11-15
Women were created for men: For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. 7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9 neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 1 Corinthians 11:2-10
Sleeping with women is dirty: No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. 4 These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they remained virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among mankind and offered as first-fruits to God and the Lamb. Revelation 14:3-4

But he just couldn’t say
Thou shalt not own another person.
Because it was part of the culture.
That’s the nonsense apologists spew.
And all those other laws, like refraining from shellfish, pork, mixed fabrics….why not a really USEFUL law that would have actually benefited people? Huh…it’s like these laws were written by Bronze Age primitives rather than some “God” who, being god, should have known a thing or two about germ theory.
You can sum up every Christian response to just about any biblical controversy with "Just make shit up, assert it and ignore anything that disagree with it."

An all powerful God does not have the power to not just end slavery, but to never allow it to occur.
