Abigail Named Industrial Placement Award Winner by CECA Southern

University of Sheffield student Abigail Howells has received a prestigious award from the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (Southern) for her outstanding performance during an industrial placement as part of her BEng Civil Engineering course.
Abigail won the Industrial Placement Award at the CECA Southern Annual Awards ceremony in recognition of her work with Jackson Civil Engineering.
During her year with Jackson, Abigail worked as an Industrial Placement Site Engineer on projects such as a motorway embankment stabilisation scheme.
She became a trusted member of the Jackson Civil Engineering team, displaying a can-do attitude and a willingness to listen, learn and execute without being afraid of making a mistake. She has a very mature outlook, seeing mistakes as an opportunity to build her knowledge in the industry in which I’m sure she’ll go far.
Abigail is also a STEM ambassador and returned to her old school to encourage more young people, particularly girls, to consider a career in civil engineering construction.
