      Tallow candle is often used as a flux when soldering windows.

      The odour of tallow candles comes from the fatty acids present in the animal fat used to make them. As the candle burns, these fatty acids release their unique scents. The most common fatty acids found in tallow are stearic, oleic, and palmitic acids.
