Carrying Easter baskets to be blessed in church, Poland

This Easter tradition in Poland is very popular. Baskets are taken into a church or put on a table inside or outside the church. Priests then recite prayers and use brushes to shake water on to the baskets' contents and the worshippers. The water used has, according to Catholic belief, been blessed and become holy water.
Huge crowds attend the churches, sometimes so many that these ceremonies or rituals are held outside in churchyards or the street outside the church.
The spectacle of so very many people of all ages going to various churches at Easter with often very ornate and pretty baskets is something interesting to behold. The food in the baskets is then consumed at an Easter breakfast and other meals over the Easter period.
