3:34 - The "MG" stands for Military Green and refers to the color in the Companion line. The thicker blade is dsignated by "HD" which means Heavy Duty.

I own a half dozen Mora knives, and dozens of knives more than a couple hundred dollars, and I have no complaints when it comes to my mora's. I have batoned a truck load of wood with my companion, with no problems whatsoever.... Bushcraft black, Mora heavy duty, and Robust just to name a few, and they all kick a$$...... I would like to thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions on these awesome blades, I appreciate it gentlemen. God bless you and your families.

Just watched the Mora rep show how the Eldris sheath goes on the handle to lengthen it just like the cap on a pen.

Good to know: The belt loop of the 511 isn't just a belt loop. It's also a "button loop". Slide it over a large button on your Blåkläder work clothes and it will sit nicely there. Super common here in Sweden. It's interesting, but I've never seen the Mora knives as survival knives or bushcraft knives. To me (and I would guess most other swedes) they're just your everyday workhorse; to some extent probably because of the price. I've seen classic Mora knives looking like the small carver, but that have actually been ground down due to usage over the years. My favourites would probably be the large classic and the normal classic with a guard (basically a normal-sized Scout). Really fun to see Mora knives feature so prominently in bug-out and survival videos and really really fun to see an entire video about them.

Yeah, the basic variants of Mora and Hultafors are often used by construction workers etc in sweden. They are considered highly disposable. Never heard of a worker who sharpens their knives (There might be lots of people who do, just that I do not hear about it in sales). They just buy new ones.

As a Mora customer/user, I would definitely recommend a Mora Robust to anyone looking for a small budget friendly fixed blade for even just all around use. This was my EDC knife for a bit, really the only complaint I had about the Robust is that the sheath clip may open up overtime, I don’t like that much. Other than that, awesome knife!

Now you get the 511 for $ 5.93 (here in Norway). I'm going down to the local store to get it tomorrow. I don''t know what color is going to meet me, but I grab one even if it is pink. From the reviews here on the UA-cam, it is a great knife for the money. I will use it for bush craft. From before I got a Brusletto Hunter knife (a Norwegian made knife who is best/better for food processing), and a Øyo viking axe replica. Together I think they will make a great combination for my forest trips.

I'm about to buy my first camping/survival knife and I've been looking at TONS of knives for the past weeks. Moras are without a doubt some of the best blades one can get simply because they are workhorses that will last for YEARS and they are very, very reasonably priced. Just because of the great deal they are some of the best knives ever. I'm thinking about buying the Bushcraft Black and the Robust. I can't just buy one haha.

Say Heah Dave, I always heard the Mora 510 was a good one. But by the time I wanted to buy one, it was discontinued. But I got the new version anyhow, which became one of my Fav's neck knives especially with my Modde Rodent 6 which looks like a Ratmandu on steroids. Years ago, I bought on closeout a Frost Mora 840 Clipper, I didn't use it that much because it wasn't a full tang. But when I did use it, it performed great. So when Mora came out with the Mora 2000 and Hatchet Combo, I got the O. D. Green version for just a little more, It became one of my Fav's Afternoon Delight Combo's, then I put my Classic #1 on my Bokor Rold Sheath after I ended putting a Nylon Belt Loop on it. Then I found out that Mora had a beautiful hand made line so I got the Forest Exclusive # 277 it's now one of my Fav's neck knives, then to color match my knives, I got (2) Eldris in black and green, and permimently put my Kansbol on my Fox Parang Bushcraft Jungle Knife. I love that Combo. I also got the Garberg which I like teaming with my Bokor Aparro Survival Knife. I really like my Mora Stable. Also I would like to Wish You a :

Hey Chris... I hate that knife! No, not really, it's just not my gig. I'm heavily favoring the Robust these days... neither Joe or I can seem to hang onto one... keep giving them away. If you would come to SHOT Show... then we could finally do some videos together - and you and I could argue about our favorite knives... Maybe at the Mora Booth. Who else wants to see Chris and I do some VIDs together at SHOT Show? : )

People say the Mora Garberg's handle is slippery when wet or bloody, but trust me! if anyone of you have tried it in those conditions you would notice that it is not slippery at all and holds very well in hand!
+ If you used the Mora Garberg as much as i do, then the soft rubber grip would be all worn out to the point of non existence. The Garberg is really perfect for heavy and hard use

As I'm sitting here typing this right now at my camp site. I bought a couple of Mora's because I've watched a lot of videos on them their price point their strength and toughness I've seen all over incredible little blades. I bought a robust and the Mora black they come in about a week ago I didn't have time to open them up until today. I like to keep 3 fixed blade on me and one folder at least and I want to be in love with these knives like everybody else. And I'm hoping what I just saw on my Mora robust is a fluke as I'm looking at it there is a crack down the spine from the tip of the knife all the way back to the handle. I can stick my finger nail in it and almost pull it apart maybe it didn't get heat-treated I'm an optimist and I'm hoping it's only a fluke. I'm going to send it back and get another one but for now I'm going to use my black it looks good so far

Good video. A few additions, perhaps? Mora 546 - the stainless equivalent of the 511 - is a fantastic do-it-all basic fixed blade, similar price, and even lower maintenance. Related to those, the Pro-S (stainless) and Pro-C (carbon) are about $12 and solve the handle slickness problem of the 511/546 with a partial overmold. They also have the same blade shape/belly as the new Robust. Up a bit in price, the Kansbol or its predecessor the Mora 2000 are very functional and may be THE most ergonomic Moras.

Where's the 2000 stainless? Tried a bunch of different ones, but that one ticks all boxes, including skinning wildgame. No 90 angle but that is also a ticked box for me since it makes for much better thumb handling (and if you need rely on that for fire, then you have a more fundamental gear problem). By far the allround knife of choice for most when I was in the marines too. Can't beat that grip, and a polished blade is best when you want to clean it.

About the Companion series ... MG means the color (military green), not the model. The Companion with the thicker blade is called the Companion Heavy Duty. It is available in green (aka MG) and bright orange.
The Companion series is also the only series which uses a different blade thickness for the stainless steel ones (carbon = 2.0mm, stainless steel = 2.5mm, heavy duty = 3.2mm). The stainless steel ones have a thicker blade to compensate for the reduced toughness (vs. impact and bending) compared to the high carbon blade. That way both models can handle about the same ammount of abuse.
The Pro Robust is also not really a beefed up Pro 511. It is a beefed up Pro C. Same blade shape (higher blade, more pronounced belly), same rubberized Grip as the Pro C and Pro S. The Pro 511 has the same handle shape, but the blade shape is different and follows the tradition of the classic moras (Basic 511, Companion etc.).

A survival knife should do the following, have a full tang, hold an edge and most important used as a steel for flint and steel which most won't do as they are made of stainless steel

The fact that moras are as good as they are and they aren’t full tang is a testament to the quality

Guys, the "MG" is not a blade steel variation, it is a color scheme (Military Green).

I've got 4 mora's. I really like them, especially for carpentry utility. Am pretty sure my fave is a discontinued model, that might be disappearing from the market,.

The sheath on the mora Eldris fits on the back of the knife extending the handle size.

Never tried a mora. I’ve always preferred full tangs in my fixed blades. I never had a hidden tang itself fail me but the handles didn’t hold up. I guess I’m gonna have to get a mora. I think I’d rather try a thicker bladed one.

So the companion HD is the almost perfect knife. If the blade was an inch longer it would be perfect. Buttoning would be so easy.

i would like the Eldris to keep with my bio-fuel backpacking camp stove. The blade is similar to the one on the Kansbol with the thinner front blade. It is Ideal for feathering sticks and hopefull small enough to store in my pot with my stove.
