I might also add that Maya is the most interactive with the Fanbase. She may not be the leader of the group but she's kind of like the leader of the ALPHAZ.
Cocona had been wanting to shave her hair for a while but the company didn't feel it was the right time, until Woke Up, so they finally let her. Paradoxically, long-haired Cocona had a very tomboyish energy , but shaved-head Cocona is radiating a very mature femininity. \\ Harvey is a stage name, her full name is Amy Jannet Harvey. \\ Maya, who raps ''to talk down on my kin'', is the second youngest, but Simon did say that if she was older she would have been the leader, and that she will be a fine example for the next generation of XGALX trainees
Some ppl scream appropriation when it comes to XG... all me and my friends see is APPRECIATION. The way they have paid homage to the culture with certain lyrics and looks is chefs kiss. They arent trying to be something they're not.
I agree with you and I would add that even though the use of grills can be in many cases cultural appropriation, in this case is to represent their wolf nature, they are literaly wolves, thats why they have fangs and all
Just out of curiosity, I've seen Westerners and rappers using anime references in their lyrics, getting traditional Japanese tattoos, or sampling Japanese music. In the U.S., is this also considered cultural appropriation? Personally, I see it as cultural exchange based on mutual respect and appreciation.
@@shirankedo-ib8uv referencing things isn't taking culture. like xg making an mj reference in howling doesn't have anything to do with culture. you can't really appropriate a language either, but a subset of people who get tattoos in asian languages do give off the exact vibe of a cultural appropriator (like "oo this is so exotic and cool, let me take it") and probably do other things that constitute that label. respect is definitely not mutual because both black artists and asian artists tend to take from the other's culture without asking. though i feel it's not as common for black artists to claim that they invented most of the asian cultures they borrow from, whereas kpop is entirely made off the back of black culture from the sound to the style, without an ounce of credit, respect, or even acknowledgment from the majority of the industry. xg constantly reminds the fans, though, of their love for black music (for example, the intro for their Kcon LA showcase last year and song associations). they don't try to erase history, they acknowledge who's inspiring them and put their own XG spin on it.
The member who says the line “Don’t talk down on my kids” is Maya and she’s talking about us as their fans as the “kids”. Maya is the second youngest actually and Cocona (the member who shaved her head in Woke Up) is the youngest. Maya turned 19 in August and Cocona turns 19 on December 7th of this year. The oldest is Chisa (vocalist, sub-leader) followed by Hinata (vocalist) then Jurin (leader, rapper) then Harvey (rapper) then Juria (vocailst) ending with Maya (rapper) and Cocona (rapper). So that’s the age order but those are just their main labels of course, everyone in the group is an all-rounder. Hinata, Jurin and Cocona are known as the best dancers with Maya not far behind. Hinata is technically the main dancer but Jurin is said to be the best dancer by the girls themselves, she often learns the choreography first and teaches the other girls and I know she’s said that she’s made adjustments to their choreography before too but as far as I know she hasn’t officially choreographed anything for them yet. I’d definitely say the best way to get to know them is the documentary. But at some point you should also check out the XG Voxs and the XG Tapes too.
I think xg’s music always carries kind of three themes: Creativity vs Corporate Nature vs industrial Them vs haters And kind of the overarching message that if you fam (Alphaz) they got you and we’ll conquer whatever together. And then usually in the background it s about work ethic leading to dreams and continuing to grow…
Woke Up was SOTY for me until Howling dropped and it's even better. IYKYK and Something Ain't Right are also great. These are more Poppy. Not to mention In The Rain and Is This Love if R&B are more your vibe.
7:07 XGALX is the company they are under. They are THE team. Ironically Maya's one of the youngest members, but that verse gave "don't mess with moms of any kind"
Thanks for this. I've been following Kpop groups for a while and XG is THAT group for me. I know they're not Kpop but when it comes to groups in general, I find their work more thought-provoking and lyrically powerful. It's not all aesthetics and catchy tunes that is so endemic in Kpop - XG's songs and mvs actually have depth and substance. They're multi-dimensional and multi-layered - the bars, the references, the lore, the cultural realism. They're not just rapping but also educate themselves about the hiphop culture and pay tribute to hiphop greats like JayZ and legends like MJ. Howling mv for example is a homage to MJ with references like moonwalk, Thriller, the Earth Song. The vocals and the rapping are also really top tier. Arguably the best in their generation. I'm sure some people will disagree but like I said, I've been following Kpop and yes, they're all talented but no other groups match XG's calibre. They're kobe beef in a world of big macs.
XG is such an “ ELITE” XPop Group. Yep, Xpop is stirring up the pot 🌶️🫕. These young talented Japanese Artist slay every song and concept. XGALX deserves an AWARD 🏆 for their MV’s. Maya is the den mother wolf 🐺 is actually second to the youngest. There are actually four in the RAP LINE and three in the VOX LINE but in WOKE UP they transitioned effortlessly. I enjoyed your Reactions to our Xtraordinary Girls. 🏹🌱🪴🌺🌒🐺
WOW! I'm so amazed with how you managed to survive both Woke Up and Howling. I couldn't even move on from Woke Up for a month or 2. I was so overwhelmed with it already, adding the very beautiful visuals of Howling must've took a lot of your energy 😊
when you mentioned the visual of them walking away in Woke Up I was SOO excited for you to see the visual in Howling haha they just keep one-upping themselves honestly both musically and visually 😭💖

Love your reaction, thank you! If you want to really want to get to know XG, start from the beginning with there documentary, called xtra xtra. It’s one of the best most emotional group documentary I’ve seen.
It doesn’t have a video yet but I bet you’d love the in the rain track which shows how versatile they are. Maybe you could just do a lyric vid for now.
XG is my favorite girl group. They're so talented! Thank you for reaction😊 please react to NCT Jaehyun's solo 'Dandelion&Roses', 'Smoke' (title track) and 'Unconditional' MVs, please🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 and please react to solo of another NCT member Yuta 'Off the mask'. You'll be surprised with the styles and talents😉
I've sen so much comments explaining a lot about the girls and the songs so i'm going to explain a very interesting thing that I assume you don't know Wolves are born blind, thats why they're wearing blindfolds in that Wolf outifit on Woke up, they really think about all the little details
Maya the one in the business suit is the second youngest to Cocona the one who shaved her head by a couple of months and i think they grew up best friends but im not 100 percent sure. Its funny that you think she is the oldest because their manager Simon said during their documentary that if she was older she could have been a candidate for leadership..Their leader is Jurin the one rapping in a skirt in Tokyo and she is the second oldest. Oldest is Chisa the one singing in the car.
Appreciate youe reaction but better to pauce when you want to say something rather than talk over the music and not even go back but good reaction though
You can’t appropriate culture. Culture is to be shared and the people in power created that term just to keep the world divided. DONT FALL FOR IT. You can find rap in pretty much any language.. it’s appreciation. XG has done nothing but create and inspire through their art that they created for themselves in conjunction with everything that they love about hiphop.
5:57 I think your a bit off with what they’re trying to convey at this point, I don’t think they are highlighting Jurin being different from the other “students” as she’s not conforming. I think they are showing her as a leader of the pack and doing it in the form of a Japanese school photo because they were hyping up the line “catch me in Tokyo Rapping in a skirt are you catching my drift tho”, I think the major difference to point out between her and the pack/other students she has with her is that she’s a “girly girl” and she’s doing this in a skirt .🏎️ (also an amazing Tokyo drift reference sad you didn’t catch it first time through) 😢 also the grill is a fine line of a appropriation and appreciation in my opinion, to me it only would make sense for a Japanese company and group who’s taking so much inspo from Black creators to want to pay homage. XG I find does it in a way wear they take things like long nails, baby hairs, and grills and they fit them to their alien style, but don’t skimp out , they don’t make it a joke, and they clearly own that it’s an homage to black culture, half the songs they cover are by black artists!!
When Maya says "don't make fun of my kids" she's talking about us "ALPHAZ" (their fan base).
I might also add that Maya is the most interactive with the Fanbase. She may not be the leader of the group but she's kind of like the leader of the ALPHAZ.
The ambassador for western fans
Cocona had been wanting to shave her hair for a while but the company didn't feel it was the right time, until Woke Up, so they finally let her. Just all noise from the haters..
@@shirankedo-ib8uv with the tattoos, i think it's only weird when people get japanese or chinese characters tattooed if they don't know what it says.

6:30 That’s Juria, another of the main vocalists that you’ve seen in the VOXs.
Cocona is still gorgeous with no hair. I don't know if everyone can pull that off but she sure does.
Appreciate your reaction and review. Your analysis is fresh and honest. Thanks! New subscriber you got me! 👽🐺💫💖🫶🏽👸🏽

Mayas lines are “don’t make fun of my kids” and “I got mouths to feed” because she is our mother and she is keeping us alive
Definitely check out shooting star, left right, and winter without you
She already did
Talent wise no other group comes close to XG.
Unfortunately Kpop is all about Company stanning instead of the Idol Groups 🫢
She reacts to so many groups it must be hard to keep up 😭 I hope she one day gets around to reacting to stayc bc I love these videos so much

It's a double meaning, cause cocona is also (along with the rest of the members minus Harvey) short asl lol
I love your reactions, but please, when you want to say something, rewind it so you won't lose nothing😉
Have you had a chance to check out Kiss of Life's new comeback!?

Then dont watch,u dont expect everyone to able to catch up on everything like u do
