Argylle director Matthew Vaughn talks espionage, comedy and cats

In today’s episode of ReelTalk, Ben interviews director Matthew Vaughn about his new action-packed spy comedy, Argylle.
Written by Jason Fuches, Argylle stars Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell and Dua Lipa with cameos from Samuel L. Jackson, Catherine O’Hara, Richard E. Grant and Bryan Cranston.
The movie also stars Chip, the cat Vaughn shares with supermodel wife Claudia Schiffer.
Argylle is about a spy novelist whose books and their characters appear to come to life.
Drawing from 1980s action thrillers, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon and classic James Bond films, Vaughn, who also directed both the Kingsman franchise and Kick-Ass, tells Ben there could be more Argylle movies in the works. And who he thinks the next James Bond should be.

There is something I didn't understand about the interview and I hope you can clarify it for me.
Matthew says that the Argylle movie is based on the fourth and fifth books of the saga, but is he referring to the books created in the fictional world of the movie or those that the author possibly publishes in real life?

Great question, Vaughn was referring to FICTIONAL books written by the Elly Conway character in the movie. Hope that clears it up.
