    One thing I think you'll always find in the episodes of Murder She Wrote where Jessica seems to make LEAPS of logic is that there are always deleted scenes. I'll bet that there is a minute long scene on some cutting room floor where Jessica speaks to this woman, and then notices her unusual shoe print being left in the sand. Like, I'll bet the scene even has the hitwoman going on about how she was totally a teacher who loved teachering the students in her teachering place, and Jessica being like, oh that's odd, I did teach English, so that seems strange you say that this way. haha

    • @kingbeauregard
      @kingbeauregard 2 роки тому +78

      Like'd for "teachering place".
      Although, if she were masquerading as an English teacher specifically, then Jessica could have caught her on a point of grammar, for example failing to use subjunctive properly or saying "less" when "fewer" would be more appropriate.

    I’d reeeaaally love a longer episode on the two parter, “Mirror, mirror” from S5, E21&22. It’s such a weird episode! It’s rare that we get Jess in danger from the get go, and Seth is an initial antagonist, really speaking his kind re: JB’s late stage second career. And the murderer in the end is, like, such a nothing character. I rewatch it very often, confused but enamored for some reason.

      That particular episode was actually supposed to be the end of the series. Angela Lansbury was exhausted and she told them she didn't want to do it anymore. So there was a real possibility that was the end of the road for the show. But they change things around so that she didn't have to appear as much in every episode and she agreed to stick around. Thank God!

      I think at one point they thought that might be the series finale, and if it had been, everyone would have thought Jessica married Seth. It has a bit of a Hallmark movie "independent woman realizes she does love her best friend after almost losing him" feel. But I think Seth grousing about Jessica writing (or doing anything that took him away from her) is probably why Jessica doesn't want to be more than friends with him. Though sometimes their interactions do feel a bit couple-ish.

    That’s Maurice Roeves playing the ‘Sea Captain’. He was all over UK TV in the 1970s & 80s when I was growing up. Mostly playing, tough, hard bitten Scotsmen. Loads of featured guest roles on hit shows plus the occasional regular character. Dr Who, The Sweeney, Danger UXB, Bergerac, etc. Lots of theatre too apparently, with plenty of Shakespeare. Looks like he made the move to the US in the mid-1980s. Probably best remembered for the movie ‘Last of the Mohicans’.

    I'd love to see you tackle the 2-parter "Mirror Mirror On the Wall" (season 5 finale), featuring veteran actress Jean Simmons as a rival mystery novelist who tries to upstage Jess. Also features one of the single best moments in the show's history, when Sheriff Metzger asks Jess, "What is this place, the murder capital of Maine?"
    Also, "Incident at Lot 7"(season 8). Jess is in Hollywood where a studio is adapting one of her books, and a murder takes place on the Bates Motel set from "Psycho".

    I want to give Auntie Jess the benefit of the doubt on the shoeprint clue. That concentric ring tread pattern is very common on the type of platform espadrilles that the Schoolhouse Assassin was wearing draped over her neck. Even if she only noticed those shoes in passing, she wouldn't necessarily have had to get a close look at them to make the connection.

That bit about the woman's shoes, I remember looking at that scene of her earlier in the video and thinking, "Those shoes are prominently in the shot. It's so weird that she's wearing those filthy things on a clean outfit." When she was identified as the maker of the footprint, I immediately thought back to that. As someone who *NEVER* can figure out mysteries and indulges in them simply for the novelty and surprise, I was quite proud of myself! :D

    If you're on Reddit, there will often be a poster coming on and claiming that Jessica is a serial killer, and is responsible for all the murders. But I think most of them are Jessica's fantasies, just like in the one where she's really tired at the dinner party.
    I'm really surprised that Jessica is allowed to read anyone else's story ideas. Professionals are told by their publishers not to, in case they end up coming up with something similar. Heck, she already has the problem that she was an English teacher, and probably read many of her students' stories.

    Used to watch Murder She Wrote with my mum all the time as a kid. Such a great series. Also Magnum P.I. which had a crossover with Murder She Wrote. Other great ones are The Rockford Files and Quincy M.E. folk say Quicy is boring but I really enjoyed the slow pacing as from a modern perspective the cinematography was good and it allowed you to just absorb what the city looked like back on that era; the street scene, the clothes etc. Its why I enjoy films like North by Northwest.

    I went to a doctor appointment today and there was a tv playing in the waiting room like most offices have. I generally ignore whatever is one and use my phone. But the moment I heard Jessica’s voice and realized what was on, I pocketed my phone and watched the episodes (The Murder of Sherlock Holmes Part 1 and 2). I didn’t grow up with this show at all, but watching your videos about it definitely made me a fan of it. Thanks for continuing to introduce new people to quality old tv ✌🏾

    I just started watching from Season 1 and in one of the first couple episodes she more or less tells a guy she knows he tried to kill her but in the end walked free. Then he basically goes 'haha Jess you're so funny', she leaves, and he gives a menacing look to the camera. Do they ever come back to this plot... ?

    I actually think that synopsis makes it sound interesting. Multiple murderers and murders that the detective gets bombarded by mysteries. "You think its ONE murder, but its actually FIVE....and so messy, you can hardly tell where one begins, and where another ends". Could be a good idea for a movie. Also, I think its called McFish in Sweden too. At least when I was a kid.

It's star Derrell Maury is in an episode of Murder She Wrote called Dead Heat and it has some crazy plot about murder and intrigue in the world of horse training. Please cover that episode, it looks hilarious and his character name is Cookie Milford which makes me laugh every time I see it.
