This is amazing! I can't begin to tell you how much I love this. I am just so happy that Philip is written wonderfully here. I know he isn't that well liked in the fandom, but I always had this soft spot for him. The way Philip is portrayed here just feel slike Philip at his core. He's a bundle of energy that is always eager to help and make friends with a lot of heart and cleverness in him. He's honestly just a good kid who still has a lot to learn and can get so into his head about something he becomes oblivious to what he is doing and/or doesn't think of the consiquences. I think most fans focus more on the high energy and boastful side of Philip, that I am not sure many know or realize just how considerate Philip really is. This is peak portrayal of Philip. As for the rest, oh man it's just so good! I have been waiting excitedly ever since the trailer for this special came out, and the wait was worth it! Salty's AEG sea shanty being used was awesome! Philip going around interacting with the other charcters while trying to solve the mystery was so good. Now I didn't know Fergus had a distrust in diesels till I found out through chat, so seeing him interact with Philip is a rather civil manner was neat to see. He isn't James before he got over his prejudice. He isn't going to be rude to Philip when he has been nothing, but nice to him yet he isn't going to let sleeping dogs lie when Philip isn't "doing it right." It feels like the right amount of Fergus. Judgey, but not heartless. Honestly, I thought Philip was going to get promoted to wokring at the Kirk Ronan Harbor along with Neil and it leads up to more Fergus episodes with him getting over his distrust towards diesels with Philip's help. Speaking of Neil, I had this prediction that the Lost Emarld was Neil! I had no idea yeah, but I was rewatching the trailer one day and Neil came into my mind and I thought, "Huh...I wonder if the Lost Emerald is Neil?" Yet even with that and me accidently hovering my mouse on the little line for the video revealing an engine (thankfully I didn't recognize him), the plot twist was still a delightful suprise! And the whole reason of the legend exisiting in the first place was so wholesome and sweet. Those people loved Neil so much. 10/10 special! Everyone who worked on this did a fansastic job!
This was so well done! Loved how the sea shanty from AEG was applied here, especially when it was used to solve this mystery. I certainly didn’t expect to see what we see here (not saying anything in case of spoilers). All in all, kudos to everyone involved!
I can't believe the emerald Philip and the explorers were looking for is Neil the whole time!!! It's so great to see him again and be restored along with the harbor at Kirk Ronan! I love seeing more of Philip's character and how you're expanding him! It makes us learn more of him! It's also nice to see Fergus and Molly again! Also maybe we could get to see Matthew and Clive again? Like The Fat Controller could go on a vacation on the Mainland and then stumbles upon them inside an old shed, then he would brought them back to Sodor to help their brother, Neil at the restored harbor. I don't know, I just thought of that. You did excellent Nathan!!! You deserve an award hahaha!
Words cannot describe how much i love this, i love how Philip was portrayed here, most of the fandom may not like Philip but honestly ive had a little soft spot for him, i really like how unexpected the twists and turns here are, it makes the story more unpredictable, also the inclusion of the Sodor Shanty from AEG was really clever, i shall not say more as it might spoil the others, overall its a charming and fantastic special.
That was very incredible! We got to expand on Philip even more. Salty once again steals the show with his sea-breathing nature. The Earl of Sodor was funny, Fergus and Molly were wonderful. And of course, it’s Greta to see the take of Neil.
I like how Philip is written here. And how you included Neil. I also love how you included "The Sodor Shanty" song from AEG in this, definitely the best song from the reboot.
This is such a charming little tale! Perfectly encapsulates all of the best parts of CGI Thomas & Friends, all while using PHILIP of all characters as a lead! I'm honestly astonished that this was adapted from an AEG episode, of all things. Handily some of the best T&F fan content I've ever seen. Well done all around!
This special was really nice. Phillip going on a quest to find a treasure. I like the lesson that a treasure isn’t just something, it can be someone too.
Now this is a fantastic special!! I loved every moment of it!! Especially the Wellerman sea shanty that Salty sang from AEG and Philip being given some screen time plus discovering Neil was brilliant!! It’s so great to see Neil back working at Kirk Ronan harbor like old times!! 😃
The opening sequence for your series is just heartwarming/very calming/and it has the power to speak into anyone's minds that they're is still hope out there for us!! Truly Pupmazing!!
That was a brilliant feature length episode. Philip has a great adventure and what I loved is how dedicated he is to finding the treasure. New sites to see and the last part, with the discovery, was a delight to see. Well done to everyone involved with making this 😀👍👏.
I unfortunately missed the premiere, but man did this special turn out great! And it might be minor, but it always makes me happy to see Neil get the proper recognition of being the oldest and among the first engines on the island of Sodor! Huge honor to lend my voice for this special, been watching your stuff since the early 2010s, really enjoy the fact of how long the quality ur content has come, and excatic on seeing it improve video after video :)
I really enjoyed the special. Great work, as always. Philip finally got a positive spotlight and had a main role. This is one of several cases where fans write better stories than the canon ever will.
@ilovetrains323 Wow, you really caught me off guard with this story. At first, I really thought they were looking for an actual emerald, not an engine, so it surprised me in the end when the lost emerald turned out to be Neil. Well done, man.
Well, Nathan, after watching Sodor's Lost Emerald, I have to say that this was another great video you put together and the story was great as well with it starting off by a group of explorers coming to the island in their quest to find "The Lost Emerald of Sodor", but they have no knowledge of the legend: However, after listening to a sea shanty from Salty, Philip decides to help the explorers to find the Emerald, which leads to the team taking a journey around the whole island before their adventure takes them to an old harbor and just when they're about to give up, one of the explorers kicks a piece of a chest into a shed, where someone yells and they open the shed to find an engine named Neil, who then explains the story of how he ended up in the shed with him working at the harbor with his brothers as well as helping bring Skarloey and Rheneas to the Narrow Gauge Railway before he was put in the shed and when Harvey and Sir Topham Hatt find them, Sir Topham is surprised to see Neil again, to which he tells everyone that he remembers Neil from the time his great-grandfather was the controller for the railway and he then has Neil restored to be the new permanent shunter for the harbor so it can help with traffic and keep Brendam Docks from getting overcrowded. Also, it was great to see Fergus and Molly in your video and while I don't know what you have planned for them in the future, I would like to see you do an episode with Molly, especially after I've watched two videos of her on UA-cam, The Tender and Former Express Engine, if you haven't watched them, so let me hear what you have to say on that. All-in-all, in the end, bud, this was another great video you put together and after listening to Neil's story, it sounds similar to what happened to Duke in Granpuff and Sleeping Beauty and I look forward to seeing what you have planned for the future, so let me hear what you have to say on doing an episode with Molly and keep up the great work!
I really, REALLY like this. The combination of old and new characters is fantastic, like Philip and Neil, mixing in Skarloey, Molly, and Fergus too! Cannot wait to see more from Neil, hope there's an episode where he joins the other oldies like Stephen and Glynn
I would like to say that this was a very, VERY enjoyable yet well creatively, most imaginatively well-written T:TTA storyline, especially with that character Philip in the lead role, Also a Jolly great idea in reintroducing a part of the Island of Sodor within the spotlight of interest as well... Also, 10 out of 10 by the way... for classic railway series references in-between.

From the characters to the ones who made background cameos to the overall plot and story I haven't seen the actual episode that this is based off of but I will just say right now that this is a lot better than that by a long shot. And of course the fact that Neil is once again in your series is absolutely awesome can't wait to see what you do with him in the future. Writing this before the dreaded UA-cam kids strikes. But I must say even though All engines go practically butchered the franchise, it’s nice to know there are fans out there who still remind us of how special and nostalgic the OG is and will always be😎 plus this gives me a newfound respect for the cgi era👍
It’s great to see Fergus. I’d like to see him meet the other diesel engines at the Vicarstown Dieselworks, can you do an episode about that when you’re doing your episodes of Series 5
Bringing back Kirk Ronan is an excellent idea, and also establishing Neil as a “new character” is what Mattel should have done. This film also made Phillip more likable, since he had partaken in a Journey that sounds sketchy… yet surprising. Having Neil be the treasure is the best thing ever, and I was not expecting him to appear in this. Absolutely surprising to see him in this film. This is what Mattel should have done, and it is - in my opinion - a hundred times better than some of their works. If Neil gets tired of all of the heavy work, I would suggest an Episode where Samson is purchased by Sir Topham Hatt and works alongside Neil at Kirk Ronan.
I loved it it was amazing good job on doing everything on it you worked so hard that you should get a special price for making this amazing video man 🥳🥳🥳😁😁😁

The box tank Engine
Your work is fantastic and Neil debuted please do a story where Neil see Skarleoy and Rheneas again

What is that place where before Philip found neli and his place
It’s great to see Fergus. I’d like to see him meet the other diesel engines at the Vicarstown Dieselworks, can you do an episode about that when you’re doing your episodes of Series 5
Oh this was lovely
Neil: ahhh goodness haven’t you hard of knocking first??
All I'm wondering is when it's salty going to drop his album? he is an absolutely fantastic singer!
Neik was in that shed. He was actually hibernating for a long time was here.
great way to introduce neil
On the boat it said Billy o tea
6:06 the best part imo
So we all gonna ignore that the ship at the start is named billy o tea?
How? Just how did you make this? It's amazing!
Is it just me or Fergus is kinda sounds like Fergus Mcduck in the 2017 Ducktales
His name is Murdoch, not Mcduck
6:08 the salty song
This is officially canon to my own Thomas & Friends timeline. :D
