      I agree, I didn't always love him, after hearing him on JRE, talking about accountability, directly after his loss to Cody. Wow, that was a great one, he is extremely well spoken. Big fan, huge respect.

      He's already been coaching once he retires he'll probably do it with more commitment. From what I've learned is that he's taken less commentating jobs to commit to his training because he wants one more shot to the title.

      @@737simviator I agree with you but that's the thing, this is basically what Dom does best, the lateral movement and making his opponents punch air. Practicing this "very basic" thing like a mad man is largely what made him who he is.

    Dominic‘s fight IQ is incredible. He is an outlier amongst outliers. I would love to listen to a podcast with Dominic and John Danaher discussing fighting philosophy and techniques. Great video much appreciated. ✌️

    Bernardo's footwork is a sight to behold. Sometimes I forget how skillful fighter can make their beginner opponent look so bad. Props to Bernardo tho always learning, always improving

      Actually, as much as I love Bernardo, and as incredible he is as a BJJ player, it's very clear that he has a HUGE gap in his understanding of the stand-up game and in his ability to move in a standing situation. He looks clumsy because in that part of the game, he is a genuine beginner.

    Man I love how Dominick Cruz fights even before the ufc days. I named my son after him ( who was born on spectrum and would watch all the old Dominick Cruz fights with me) he's literally had to prove him self against some of the bullies in his class. And, like Dominick Cruz my son had lived up to the name of the dominator.

    1. I've met Mr.Cruz multiple times. I used to attend a BJJ class in the evenings at Alliance MMA Chula Vista, CA. He is a humble and respectful man, regardless of what others may say.

    I’m active duty military and a pro mma fighter I had a Benin tumor growing that was severing my tibia and fibula and during the surgery to remove it had complications where the doctor knicked my artery and had internal bleeding which led to me almost losing my leg and after that compartment syndrome, plantar fasciitis along with needing surgery on my other knee. They said I would never walk again I was losing both my careers and source of income along with a new baby girl on the way. I reached out to Dom on social media and he gave me amazing inspiration and advice fast forward 5 years in still competing signed to the XFC and commissioning as a officer. I still use the drills and advice he gave me to this day an always give credit when able to. He’s a pioneer and icon for many.

    Cruz was the guy to beat for a decade. You couldnt just be better at striking, you had to adapt to his style. Cardio machine aswell. The 135 pound division wouldnt be the same without him. Probably the most influential fighter of modern mma.

    When Dominic Cruz was younger it looks like he was on TRT (arguably no TRT because of such devastating injuries). Maybe he was just in great shape because he was younger with more T. Either way even back then he was leagues ahead of many fighters of today. Other than the calf kick “meta” he pretty well invented the best style.

      @@JRF1004 check him out when he was fighting pre-USADA. Physically he was a specimen. I’m not taking anything away from him. They all were doing it. Mostly. You can just simply Google a picture from when he was champ and see a huge difference. It’s not age either. It’s right after USADA. I’m not saying he didn’t put in the work and I’m not saying he’s not a genius when it comes to his style. Just calling it like I see it. Look at him when he was fighting Uriah Faber and that generation. His body composition back then was not even close to the way it is now. Or anything after you USADA. Having said that he still is one of my favorite fighters.

    I've Been going on a rampage of nasty rants and comments on A LOT of ju jitsu pages about this specific video series of how to deal with bigger opponents and this is literally the only god dam video that shows a smaller guy executing proper techniques to deal with bigger guys. I swear EVERY GOD DAM VIDEO with this title has a guy like Bernardo(huge dude) demonstrate how to handle big guys on a 12 year old 90lb kid and it's so stupid. Thank you for doing a video That's actually showing the smaller guy demonstrating on a big guy

    Bad ass dude. This is hundreds of hours of practice, if not thousands to get to his level of fighting. He also know the key to life: " what can I give." El que no vive para servir, no sirve para vivir. This is also hundreds of hours of fighting wisdom compressed into a 15 min clip. Baaaad ass.

    Dominic Cruz is easily one of my favorite fighters. If not my number one favorite. Fight IQ is incredible and I’ve never seen anyone copy his foot work. The closest was TJ Dillashaw. Other than the freak fight he had against Cody Garbrandt he’s always made the his opponents frustrated with limited attack options. He once said he designed his fighting style around not taking damage. I don’t see any smarter strategy than that.
