We knew mid way through year 2 he was not it and the GM inexplicably made him the back up QB. That was a protect the GM's ego move that blew up on the fan base.

If a QB is destined to not work out and not be extended past the rookie contract, I'd rather know earlier so i can pivot and move in another direction (like Arizona did with Josh Rosen and Kyler) than be teased by flashes of good play for 4 years and have tough decision in the option year

CJs weapons were one of the lowest graded / known units in the NFL coming into the season. Texans OL was banged up and was constantly rotating scrubs in across the whole OL. Everyone praised Carolina for creating a nice soft landing spot for a rookie QB. We can't rewrite history and act like CJ landed in some amazing location. He elevated the team the way a #1 pick is supposed to elevate it.
