    Nice rotation of heel drops, stack heights, and midsole materials.

    Nice video! I’ve ran the marine corps marathon twice and it is awesome. Couple of tips: there’s no wave starts and the first few miles are on narrow streets so line up as close to the front as possible or you might be stuck behind some slower runners. Also, and not to be the bearer of bad news but the course is a bit long. My garmin said it was 26.72 miles the last time I ran it in 2019. Other than those two things you’ll have a blast at the marathon. It’s one of my favorites. Good luck on the sub 3 attempt!

    The Superblast 2 were always sold out. So I went with a combo of Novablast 4 and Saucony Speed 4. Then two days after I bought them Asics restocks the Superblast 2s 😤! FML

      @@joshuaxruns It's all good, took the Novablast out for a 15 mile run with 10 miles at tempo and got a half marathon PR 😂. They got some good bounce but not great at turnover. For $140 it's a crazy deal

    My rotation currently while I train for a half-marathon:
    Daily walking AKA "lifestyle" shoes: Nike Structure 25
    Daily trainers: Novablast 4
    Recovery/slow/long runs: Saucony Triumph 21
    Tempo/Speed/Race: Saucony Endorphin Speed 3
    Competitive: Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 3
    Trail: Hoka Speedgoat 5
    I haven't decided which to wear for the actual half-marathon yet... I don't think I'm ready for the Adios Pro 3 but I got them for $100 so I couldn't pass them up. Edit: just did 6 sets of interval training and decided to break them in and see how they felt. I'm pretty sure I'll be using them for my half-marathon. They feel GREAT.

    Just found your channel while searching for creators running the Marine Corps. It’ll be my first marathon in 11 years. Will you be hosting a shake out or know of anyone that is? Love the channel and looking forward to following you leading up to the race.

      I am trying to get a shakeout run together with the MCM at the moment but don’t actually know if it will all come together. I will make an announcement here on YT and Instagram once I know what’s going on with the shakeout. And thank you! Good luck in your training and see you there.

    At the full marathon, I'd have concerns with how you handle the 5mm drop on the ASICS. I know when I ran a marathon in the AF V1, the drop crushed my calves in the last 5-7km so I couldn't push how I intended. When I switched to the AF V2 and the 8mm drop the calves were fine even post race, but then I found the added bulk of that shoe made itself known in the last 10k. If you have zero concerns with the 5mm drop and narrow heel, go with the Paris. Otherwise, I'd probably go with the Puma, given your options.

    • @joshuaxruns
      @joshuaxruns  3 місяці тому

      That lower drop could potentially be a hindrance for your calves and achilles in the late stages of a race. That’s why I always try to do at least 18-20 miles in a race day shoe before race day.

    Another amazing recovery shoe is the New Balance More V5. It has got to be the most comfortable shoe out there (IMHO).

    The Puma gives me the stability for the marathon over the Metaspeed. I’m much slower than you however

    • @joshuaxruns
      @joshuaxruns  3 місяці тому

      Same! The sky Paris is a little too narrow in the heel for the marathon for me.

    I just picked up Adidas Adios Pro3 and did 4 x 1.5 miles in it. The shoe felt great but the upper I just couldn't figure it out why they made it like that. For Marine corp, i am debating between Metaspeed sky vs Saucony endorphine elite 2.

    • @joshuaxruns
      @joshuaxruns  3 місяці тому

    Hello! I would like your advice. I started running more actively and experimenting with sneakers. I am preparing for a half marathon. I have Vomero 17, Nimbus 25 and Adizero SL2. Vomero 17 - soft, stable, I like them for easy runs. I was excited about the Nimbus 25 at first, but now they seem cumbersome and very slow. SL2 - excellent: both the pace has improved, and the speed, and the heart rate does not increase. My question is, should I replace the Nimbus 25 with something else for slow recovery runs? Are they not needed at all with Vomero 17? And what sneakers would you recommend for my collection to close all questions? Of particular interest are the recommendations for speed/tempo sneakers. I will be very grateful.

    • @joshuaxruns
      @joshuaxruns  2 місяці тому

      I would run the 25's as a recovery shoe since you already have them. But in the future, if you feel the vomero can fit both roles then that saves you money. For speed, I would look at the endorphin speed, puma deviate nitro, or shoes similar to those. They have a plate and some super critical foam but aren't as expensive or aggressive as race day shoes. Hope that helps!

    Nice video. After how many miles you dispose them on average? There is no so many info on internet when to throw running shoes away, some guidances are from 300 to 500 miles.

    • @joshuaxruns
      @joshuaxruns  3 місяці тому

      I typically retire shoes at 400 miles. Sometimes it’s a little sooner though. Usually at 250 miles I will begin to just check the shoe every so often.

    Just came across the channel but glad I did, really enjoyed the shoe rotation breakdown. I feel you on the Pro 3 upper, going for a half marathon PR in 2 months and I’m in love with the midsole feel but it’s definitely the worst Raceday upper out of any shoe I’ve tried and I’ve been worried about how that’ll feel after the 15km mark. Will need to test it on some long runs soon (although that means giving the Superblasts a rest 😢).

    • @joshuaxruns

      Thank you! That’s really helpful. The half was the same way with no wave start which made getting out a little more difficult than expected.
