Writing the date on the aquarium is GREAT idea! Added a marker to the aquarium kit, done 👍👍
Thanks for sharing as I haven’t heard of the CoOp Scrubber. I will definitely order those ASAP.
Good information thanks for sharing. I need to pick up those algae scrubbers.
Always like your videos and advice. I just recently changed over from a planted community tank to a mbuna tank. Not an easy task but well worth the change. I use a siphon hose to both clean gravel and remove water when doing water change. the old water goes out the window directly to our garden I have a 20gal trashcan on wheels to transport fresh water to tank and pump treated water to tank. I find it easier than 5 gal buckets.
Awesome Zenzo Great 👍🏿 information Thanks
Thanks for the advice.
Thanks for sharing your great methods of keeping your tanks beautiful, Zenzo! I have a nano tank just a few inches too high for me to add water to without getting it everywhere, so I use a mini aquarium pump in a gallon water jug that I've cut a hole in just below the spout and down about 4 inches on the side opposite the handle, leaving the rest intact. Then I put the pump w/tubing attached (1/2" diameter?) and pour water into that, until my aquascaped 2.5gal apothecary jar is filled, without harming said scape 😉. My favorite algae and fungus removal tool is the free toothbrush 🪥 I receive from my dentist (I use it on my tiny hardscape)!
Very nice. That was two times more than I could pump that iron!!!! I do grandpa pushups and pullups and some dumb bells and walk when I play golf. Nice to see all you fit guys taking care of aquariums.
Dude your awesome!! thank you so much for the info!
Hi Zenzo, I like using a high pressure pump for water changes right after I vacuum. I also like the API Algae Scrubber and their algae pad and the Mag Float. Great video buddy. Keep up the great work and congratulations on your position with the Co-Op
i bought a 32 g trash can just for the fish room. I syphon water into the can and then use a pump like you mentioned to pump it out. In the summer months I pump it outside to use in the garden, in the winter I pump into the sink/drain. I have used the pump for draining the tanks too, works well. as for algae, I too have magnetic scraper. Will have to order some coop pads now.
I have the CoOp scrubber and love it. For really stubborn spots I have a plastic "razor" and use it all the time. It really has changed the game for me because I get spot algae on the glass that won't come off any other way.
OMG, your adorable puppy and the fish interacting!
Awesome vlog 😉💛
Awesome info, Fired Up!!!
What else do you do Zenzo for an export method for algae besides water changes? Do you check your P04 levels periodically on your tanks? The algae scrapers work great as well as the Melamine pads. Those are a favorite of mine as well for those stubborn spots of algae. Nice video 😊
These coop sponges do not fall part like some of the others. Great product!
Some good tips mate, algae definitely is good for certain species of fish and fry. Gives them food during the day. I personally hate magnetic algae cleaners. I've lost count of how many times small particles of gravel have gotten caught between the magnets and scratched the glass. I now only use old credit cards. Absolutely impossible to scratch the glass, they do a great job on all types of stubborn algae, even coralline algae, most of all, they're free! Those peacock cichlids look amazing too mate, incredible colour!
He actually is making them gains!!! You should post a water change and workout sesh!
hey i came here for fish advice not for you to call me out on my full sink 😂😂😂 love the vids my man!

New Aquarium Coop product idea... combine the Aquarium Coop Algae Scrubber with a Mag- Float type magnet!
Love your dog trying to control the fish! :D I prefer razer blades on anything made out of glass.
razor?
What is the name of tune playing when you were powerlifting?
Hi, Do they plan on making the algae sponge with a handle. Maybe some way to quickly attach and remove and keep the same handle.
can you make a video on aqueon optibright max led light program each light color please.
Basically I do the Same, but for the algae on my plants, I gave this frits algae remover a try and I will tell You, it worked Way better than I could have imagined. I only used 1/5 of the recommended dose and still worked wonders. Hand picked the dying staghorn off and let my skimmers make short work of cleaning the water.
Me, algae doesn't bother me too much just as long as it doesn't look out of balance. Peace Zen...
I like any algae growth on my HOB tube to help mask it... i could glue anubia petite, etc. on it but I feel like that draws attention to it
I use my Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion 175-Watt Powered Compact Inverter with a ON/OFF switch and my submersion pump to do water change and it saves me time from plugging into a wall outlet and it is very portable to all my tanks with no open outlet.
Them bench presses tho 😳👌
I learned the hard way lots of water changes and not to over feed. I was good for that. I’m neeeeewww.
I only have a 50g and 60g.I use a pump, weekly, to change water, attached to a garden hose. While the expelling pump/hose is in the second tank i use a hose attached to the faucet to start filling. It's quick
Great video, I’m in the market for a Hulk power rack. Do you like yours?
It’s decent for the price. If other 84” racks were readily available when I was putting my gym together, I would have chosen something different. However, for what it is, including price and availability, I’m quite satisfied with it.
What about reoccurring green water? It's more of a hue than it is green green. I am having that issue along with some black bearded algae. I run my light about 5 - 6 hours a day. I did just notice recently that it gets a little bit of direct sunlight in the evening in the winter. From what I understand green water is a free floating algae spore? I haven't done a lot of reading on it and my knowledge is a little outdated. What's the solution to that beyond adding a product for broad spectrum algae control? Is there a new miracle cure lol. Back in the old days when I worked at a pet store we used a diatom filter with diatomaceous earth. I'm sizing up to a 130 from a 75 gallon. I was hoping to use much of my water from my smaller tank into the new tank but I'm concerned that I will end up with greenish water. I have mostly haps, peacocks, couple of synodontis cats, raphael cat, a pleco and a pair of prolific Rusty's.
Multiple great ideas and practices, also hitting three plates doesn’t hurt!
Light weight! 😝
Don’t short me on the 15lb plates on the ends! 😂
@@TazawaTanks My Bad, respect!
Do you go more water changes than cleaning the tank
Do you have a recommendation for a submersible pump?
Not really. Any that have an attachment for a hose or tube is fine. I have 3-4 different brands.
Can you put the aquariumcoop algae scrubber between the magnetic scrubber? Or is the magnet not strong enough to hold it?
If you have a larger Magfloat with a strong magnet, and if your glass or acrylic is not too thick, that may work. I haven’t tried that yet.
Regarding water changes , pumping it through a hose straight down the sink is a great idea, filling it directly from the tape is not do-able, I live in Scotland , the tape water is way too cold , how do I get passed this? thanks.
You don’t have hot water from the tap? Like a sink? That’s what I use. I match the water temperature.
And you gotta be super careful when feeding!!!! How many fish rooms do you see fish food all in between tanks and on the lids...lol I know I'm guilty but keeping the outside clean is also really important , I love that really clean look in a fishroom over that crazy Frankenstein looking fishroom in a basement
You know what would be a cool video? How to manage your hobby and other things in life. Like i recently got into becoming fit, so i wanted to ask you how do you maintain like a gym or work out routine and fit that in with your job as well as being so involved in your tanks. Do you have any tips or habits that keep you motivated in each aspect of life?
P.s no hat, no beard looking classy my friend
yup, yup yup. I did this today on my 125g. I have bba in there and did all that from the water change and scraping off the algae off the glass and removing some of the leaves from my amazon swords. Not as I would like it to be but it sure was better than it was. I have a small tub that I use to do water changes, right out the front door. I do 10 to 20%, sometimes more. I have to get a pump. I have a python but sometimes its a lot to get that hose out and take all around the house. Besides I think the pump would work better and faster.
Unfortunately I am that person who lets dishes pile up for 3 days before I wash them 🤣 Now it makes sense why I do the same with my tanks as well. I need to work on that as a person generally I think.
would'nt you be upsetting the fish if you clean now and again during the day as when i change the water once a week my fish goes wild and its up setting to know that they get stress out every time in a week of changing the water i do feel for them poor things to get stress out because of this water changed
I have a question regarding water changes. I was looking into buying a python system for my water changes, my question is, can I add the tap water into the tank and THEN treat it with dechlorinator, or do I need to treat it in the bucket before I add it to the tank?
I add my dechlorinator as I’m refilling the tank with tap water.
@@TazawaTanks do you add in enough to treat the whole tank or just what you're adding to it?
I treat for the tank volume.
Lifting weights and fish tanks my two favorite hobbies.
One way I fight algae is by stuffing as many plants as I can into the water, or like I see on your tank in the back pothos vines suck up extra nutrients
How do keep the substrate clean?
Gravel vac every once in awhile. When I do, I drain it right into a giant Rubbermaid garbage can and pump the water out from there.
The only tank I struggle to keep algae free is my 75 with yoyo loach, weather loach, tiger barbs, and rock catfish. I have snails in my other tanks buuuuut the yoyo loach see that most snails are murdered to death.... Same for shrimp. I'm going to try getting some SAE to control algae. 🤞🤞🤞
Hey!
I have to ask because I have gotten mixed information on this question.
In your intro at about the 17 to 18-second mark, you show some cichlids.
I think the males are blue and the females are yellow, what species are they?
Thanks
Sure, no problem. They are called Chindongo saulosi (also known as Pseudotropheus saulosi). They are a dwarf mbuna.
@@TazawaTanks Thank you!
Nyc
You animal. A double tap at 345lbs. Impressive!
Question? Why I keep hearing the African cichlids can't have live plant? in video I see the other way around
I have a few videos about how to have plants with African cichlids.
My trick is to accept what you can't change and use it to your advantage!
✊🏽💯
I learned the hard way not to use the blade in a sand tank. I put two big scratches in a fairly new tank.
Dang! That’s a bummer!
Silver arowana
Lol
I'm fortunate enough to not really need to deal with much algae?
I have a shrimp tank and so they eat it. And in my fish tank, I don't know why. Keeping frogbit may help?
Yes, the frogbit helps.
Better like and subscribe or Tazawa Tanks will bounce you.😄
Hey man I have personal question. Did your hair turn that white in a short amount of time? (Like 3-4 years Or was it slowly turning white over the years and you were trying to control it by dyeing it, and after the white getting out of control you just gave up and said I'm gonna stop fighting it and let nature take it's course. Which is my story. I went from all black to 65% white in 4 years. SMH
I started getting white hairs back in high school. By my mid 20s it was noticeable. By my early/mid 30s I was salt and pepper, so I started to color it black. I finely decided to embrace the white hair now that I’m in my mid 40s (I left it alone to go natural during the pandemic).
Pothos and pothos and more pothos
My favorite way to deal with algae is prevention😅
I really haven't had too many problems with algae since I put my tanks on timers, and utilized Dr Walstad's siesta method.
Occasionally I will get plants via trade or from my LFS that come with BBA. A baby syringe with H2O2 applied directly to the BBA softens it up enough for the snails to finish cleaning for me.
What is that magic time that your lights are on every day?
They vary from being on 6 hours to 9 hours.
If you have auto water change it’s not difficult.
my fish are fresh water fish by the way .
Honestly my best way to clean algae is by keeping Chinese algae eaters in my tank. Literally keep the tanks spotless and I had bad brown algae in all 3 of my tanks. They’re pretty cool fish
My goldfish eat the algae off the back of my aquarium, I don't wipe the back off because my goldies like to snack, thank you-
Floating plants
i used a razor blade to clean those algae :D
i heard that algae is actually good for your tank it just doesnt look good. i dont know tho
Edit: i posted comment b4 watching all the way thru. so algae is good thx
Simple answer is, Bristle nose pleco.
Not so simple, and not useful in all types of aquariums. They can help with some algae in many types of tanks though.
@@TazawaTanks true, I should have said easier in most cases. Even I don't have bn pleco in all my tanks. My smaller planted tanks have nerite snail, peacocks are housed with bristle nose and my flowerhorn wants to kill everything.
A Nike shirt? 😲👎🏼
Until a brand wants to pay me, I’m not loyal. 😂😂😂😂
