Nice first impressions of the bike. I've just bought the same one and it seems to be a brilliant bit of kit for the money. In regards to the battery, it literally takes 2 minutes to remove from the frame and they do sell a connector to charge externally if you wish. Looking forward to seeing your longer term impressions of the bike.
A year later .. And just got the 2022. The battery really isn't that much trouble to take out. This coming from a trek with external. ( The only gotcha is the battery release is released clockwise ??? That is a Shimano part though not Vitus. )
Love my 2019 E-Sommet, but I wouldn't buy another until they sort out the warranty support. Ebike reliability and online sales are not a match made in heaven. CRC/Wiggle need to add an ebike service shop to their Midland's warehouse.
Nice video, but I would not change anything from the 2020 E-Escarpe VRS I got (except the chain guide that needed replacing straight out of the box). The biggest advantage of the external battery is being able to mount the bike on the standard roof rack.
@@danmckay2982 I am 220 lbs and after I mastered gearing I do not feel need for more power. Typically I ride on the Trail mode set to medium support with occasional support from Boost mode at high. The new motor is nice except for the noise on descent that would really annoy me.
@@marcinstefanski81 trail mode what I tend to use for the most part also. I find boost is too much for trails anyways. I was literally just stating that I felt the older bike was a tad more lively. The new bike is definitely an upgrade regardless! It’s a great bike to ride and can handle the tougher terrain very well! (I will be keeping it)😄
Is there a major difference in the top of the range model and your mate ,as I'm undecided witch one to pick .Great video and that's why I'm undecided. Your model looks the same lol
Unfortunately I can't really comment on the top of the range bike, however I can say that my bike has been more than adequate for everything I do. Depends whether you want the extra bling I guess.
Hard to believe with all our modern technology, Vitus says they cannot ship this bike to me in the USA. I only found out AFTER I had saved up all the money to buy it and pressed the button to purchase. There has to be a way to get this thing to me. What is the issue, Help me somebody.
Great review ......thanks. In your opinion would the Vitus E-Summit VR make a good trail bike? I live in the south of France and ride mostly through vineyards and on mountain trails, some of which can be a bit rough but not full on. Also, I'm cycling the two canals from Bordeaux to the Med in May. I definitely need something more than a gravel bike but wondered if the enduro spec of the E-Summit would be unsuitable for long trails?
Hi Daniel, I personally would go for a hardtail emtb for the type of riding you do. A full suspension emtb adds extra weight and the tyres supplied on the E-Sommet are overkill for long distance cruising. To contradict this, if there is a chance of you riding more technical trails and you feel you would require a full suspension emtb then the E-Sommet is still a great all round package. Just get a change of tyres for longer gravel rides
@@TheBikeStudio Hi Ben. Many thanks for the quick and helpful reply. I'm definitely tempted as we do often end up on more technical trails.........often by accident! Hope all is well in North Wales. I was born not far from Snowdonia, in Colwyn Bay.
Hi, I’m looking to buy this bike. What kind of power modes does it have, has it got like an eco mode and turbo mode etc. Would I be able to change the mullet setup for maybe 2 29ners etc. What’s the battery life like and how long does a full charge take.
Hi, it has eco, trail and boost modes. I don’t think there’s enough clearance for a 29er rear wheel. Battery life depends entirely on the terrain you’re riding, weight of the rider and choice of modes so impossible to answer. Full charge takes around 5 hours
@@mitchell_9709 I wouldn't recommend it as it will radically alter the geometry. I'd suggest getting used to the mullet setup. You might even start to prefer it!
Great Video but I have to strongly disagree about the bike being quiet.....mine is loud as hell ! The motor rattle and other noises are really bad ! Brilliant bike though !
I've been told many people have had differing experiences with the motor rattle, as they say, not all motors are created equally! For me it also depends on the type of trails you ride. Thanks for your comment
@@yikenscot It's interesting to hear everyones different experiences with the motor noise. I think another thing to factor is that no motor is exactly the same. Some happen to be noisier than others. It often depends on the frame its in as well.

Thanks very much. I'm also looking forward to seeing how it copes over the coming months. Update coming soon...

The 2020 e escarpe vrs is the better bike for power

I have recently bought this one and I still have my old e escarpe and I find the older bike model pulls better for sure 😬
Definitely need to put more effort into the new bike when things gets technical
Did you ever make the other videos reviewing the forks and the shock in more detail? I cant find them on your subscribed page !
Sadly I didn’t, but I will do a long term review of the new VRX later next week. Keep an eye out!
