You can spray with water and dawn dish soap mixture. Your garden is coming along!!

I cover my soil with grass clippings and that helps some with the compacting issues. After about a month, i will sort of mix in the dry grass that is now on top and add fresh new grass clippings. That seems to be aerating the soil and helping some.

Thanks for the tip. I’m sure the grass clippings help, because it’s organic matter. I may have to try this method.

Since you got room in the yard for bugs. Should get an electric bug zapper. That should take care of them.

I need to find an outdoor bug zapper. I had one, but it broke because of all the rain.

Those are aphids -
aphids snack on the sap in plant stems and leaves, which weakens the plant and can stunt its growth.
