    FYI the lph50 is the same body just with a side mounted cup. I like it better for the fact you can add less paint and rotate the cup to always allow paint flow. less wasted in my opinion. I do mostly paint as a hobby and small parts so when I can save paint, clear it's a plus for me.

      I know this is an old video but trying to learn more about this gun after a couple years using it. In the video it looks like the gun is set to 29psi, the manual says 7-14psi. What’s the advantage to using higher or lower psi?
      I’m spraying very thin shellac with the lph80, I was thinking I wanted to get a faster gun for clear lacquer but maybe just raise the psi?
      Please forgive my ignorance on this subject, I’m very much a novice. Thanks!

      @@mikesradguitars Hi, pressure is your friend you can control the orange peel effect with it so you can spray thick or thin materials, I always set the pressure as high as ican without the spray pattern mist becoming hollow in the centre

    • @mikesradguitars
      @mikesradguitars 2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks so much for your response, that tip about the the hollow fan pattern is exactly the kind of explanation I can use.
      Is it possible to give an equivalent guideline for when the pressure is too low?
      Am I correct in guessing that the advantage of high pressure is that it speeds up the process? And low pressure slows things down? In addition to what you said about controlling the surface/orange peel like you said?

    Hi Chris. Feel your pain with the doors. Been there, and still not totally happy with mine.
    I adjusted my hinges so often I managed to strip the threads in several of the A post captive plate bolt holes which didn’t help. But I re-tapped them for larger bolts which I would recommend for more grip.
    As to all the inevitable paint chips and scratches, I’m totally in love with my little Iwata LPH80 mini spray gun for precise repairs. It’s not cheap but it’s amazingly precise and controllable with every type of paint I’ve thrown at it, almost like an air brush when dialled right down. One of the best investments I’ve made. You might like to check out the reviews. Cheers

    Congrats Gunny on 3 years and 400 videos! Regarding the eventual comparison of miniguns, I agree that price is an important factor. Most of us don't have unlimited budgets so we want to know what's the best tool I can get for my money. Thanks for your effort - I know that it takes work to shoot and edit these videos!

    hi gunman.you hear a lot of people saying that sometimes you get a nice finish and sometimes not so good and they can't seem to get the setup right on their gun.a lot of painters don't seem to bother with viscosity cups and keeping the products at room temperature. it's surprising what a difference it makes by using viscosity cups to check the thickness of the paint before you spray and it makes setting up your gun much easier.how about doing a video on the subject.there doesn't seem to be much out there on the subject.great watching you gunny!!

    Hey @thegunman I'm looking into buying this gun soon. When I go into the website to order it it vies me options for the air cap. One is the e2 air cap I believe and the other option is the e4 air cap. I was wondering what's the difference and which one I should go for. I'm using the gun to spray clear on plastic mode cars thanks.

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  7 років тому +1

      I think they are all capable of top results in the right hands, the main thing is striking the balance of build quality and price if you ask me. This is a stand out the gun in the mini range because it is so precise and even with a 1.2mm tip it atomises the paint very fine, it would struggle to do larger areas, though, really just a touch-up gun.

      FLG5 is a good gun at a reasonable price. Is the GTI a pro or pro lite? or just the original GTI? what air cap do you have on it, is it the 110?

    • @DansRestorations
      @DansRestorations 7 років тому +1

      The Gunman it's the original. I have a 1.4 it also came with a 1.3 and a 1.5

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  7 років тому +1

      Themechanicman92 The original are still decent guns but the pro & pro lite are a big step up. I always used mine with 1.4mm 110 air cap.

    • @DansRestorations
      @DansRestorations 7 років тому

      The Gunman what would you suggest for primer? would you say the original gti for base and the pro or pro lite for clear?

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  7 років тому +1

      Themechanicman92 Yes that'd work, there's a few good options for primer, FLG5 1.8-2.0, ANI F150 1.9 or Airgunsa AZ3 1.8-2.0

  • @nunyayourbusiness7327
    @nunyayourbusiness7327 7 років тому +1

    is it worth the price difference over the ani

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  7 років тому +1

      I'd say yes but it would depend on what you plan on using it for, the ANI would be more suited to larger areas but this gun has a very small air cap making the fan very small but at the same time more precise than the ANI. This is basically a big airbrush, ideal for small spot repairs, touch ups, wheels etc.

    Hey Gunny could you tell me what last grit paper to use to get a panel ready for paint? Thanks in advance from Dallas Texas. Do you recommend to do a dry or wet sand on a panel for paint.

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  7 років тому +1

      I've found 800-1,000 grit for a blend area and 500-600 for areas that you will be applying colour is perfect, that is if dry sanding. If wet 800 for colour areas and 1,000-1,200 or grey Scotch Brite for blend areas. I prefer dry sanding but if you're not experienced then wet sanding may be the best way to go, it's a bit more forgiving but a little messier.

  • @misael008
    @misael008 7 років тому

    i have a few questions. is primer and primer sealer the same thing or is it two seperate things. im helping my dad paint a truck, he is experienced in automotive painting but doesn't speak english. im not even an amateur, so i dont know most terms used in this profession. the owner of the truck bought lesonal primer, base coat and clear. i dont know if base coat is referring to the actual paint and color. also the papers with the basic instructions say how to apply the primer surfacer then sealer which leads me to believe its two separate things and applied in layers like primer, sealer, base coat then clear. so i asked at a store how to apply the primer and sealer, they told me prime it, sand it, seal it but have to paint within 4 hours, which further leads me to believe it two separate things but in all the materials the owner bought, there isnt a container that says sealer, just primer, hardener, reducer, activator, base coat and clear, so i think he didn't buy the sealer or the store forgot to put it in, or i dont know if the sealer is mixed in with the primer already, but like i said, i dont know anything about this thats why im asking.

      The Gunman thanks mate, I just got one to clear my airbrush Paintings and 14 psi seems a little low. 29 or mid 20s sounds better.Cheers

      They already offer a freebie gun cleaning kit if you let them know I sent you. I have heard some people have the option of upgraded shipping instead. Did you fall asleep on the full stop button?

      I'm usually up until around 3 or 4AM watching your videos, so yes it's highly probable I did fall asleep. I purchased the GTI Prolite based on your videos (havent used it yet). Looking at a mini gun next, so may hit up spraygunsdirect for the ANI, or Pri. Thanks for the vids, learning a lot

      ritrka Just be sure to send them an email letting them know I sent you and ask for the cleaning kit, if they made it integrated on their site then everyone would use it. Yes the ANI R150 is a great little gun and I highly recommend it. Thanks for the support.
      I have a thing against overuse of full stops in places they aren't necessary, just a me thing I guess. 3 or so full stops indicates, to be continued...
      :)
