Hi Marieka! Thank you for your wonderful videos-they’ve been a great source of inspiration for us. I wanted to share our experience to hopefully help other families navigating curriculum options. Like you, we enrolled our child in Euka earlier this year. At first, as new homeschooling parents, we found it useful to pay extra for the report creator to assist with our registration application to the State’s Home Education Unit. However, we’ve been quite disappointed with the curriculum itself. Since Euka only offers refunds within a 7-day cooling-off period, we’re now locked into a 12-month registration. In hindsight, I think that’s too short a window for families to assess if the program is right for them. Now, we’re stuck paying over $600 for a curriculum we no longer use. Additionally, in a recent UA-cam episode, the founder and CEO shared some extreme and polarizing views on certain topics, which was concerning for us and solidified our decision to move away from the program. How are you and your son finding it? Do you think you’ll continue with Euka?
My son has enjoyed using an online program, he is not too fussed over what the curriculum is like he just wants to get his work done🙃 He wont be using it next year as he is moving on to other things. My daughter enters high school next year but she does not want to use an online program and I do not think she will like it any way. It is a shame the pricing of the curriculum, I feel it is much too high. We were able to get a discount this year so that is why we went with it. I feel like they should offer a free trial too so people can see what it is like before they have to pay for it
Thanks for this Marieka. We have signed our 12 year old daughter up to Euka today. This video convinced us to investigate Euka further and we are feeling really optimistic about it. Thank you
Hi 👋 My biggest challenge as a HS Mum for high school is English!! Do you find Euka is completely comprehensive to cover all of English? It doesn't look like much...
One of the reasons why we're after HS is we want individualised and tailored education at our own pace. I'm curious how Euka actually meets those needs?
When you sign up for a program you are signing up to complete the work that they set. There is flexibility in how much of the work you choose to complete and when you complete it. You can move at your own pace through the curriculum. It is set out into 5 days worth of work for 10 weeks but you can complete them at any rate as there is no time limit on it or no external person waiting for you to hand it in or mark it. Hope that makes sense😊
Thanks for posting! Is an actual teacher grading any of the work and providing feedback? Especially in subjects like English where answers aren't always just a yes or no or is it all graded by the parent/child?
There is no one grading or giving feedback. There are answers provided and the program does mark it as well but it is up to the parent to check the work.
Hi, I'm in the process registering, I'm stuck with 3 forms required by HUE. (Summary programs etc) where do I find them if I payed for Government report creator? Thanks for any help
Hi there😊 I do not use the Government report creator so I am of no help to you sorry, just try customer support through Euka. They have been super helpful whenever I have needed to contact them
How many hours it takes to complete the program is really up to you. It will depend how fast or slow your child completes their work and how many subjects they are completing in the program.
Hi Marieka. Do you have any tips on how to homeschool with a newborn? Did you have to put homeschooling on hold for some time after your baby was born? I'm homeschooling my first grader and am wondering whether I'll manage with a newborn.
Homeschooling definitely changed once our new baby joined our family. We did less work for a little while and did our school work at different times than we used to. There was an adjustment period, learning to settle into a new routine. I would recommend doing less school work for awhile, just complete the necessary subjects like English and Math and put everything else on hold for a little while
Just watched this after leaving a comment about Euka on your other video lol! So do you find Euka's layout and program easier than doing the free curriculum and planning the work yourself as you have been doing?
I would never allow my child to read the boy and the striped pyjamas. Let alone in yr8. Its way too horrific of a story. This is why going with mainstream things can be challenging and finding age appropriate books that arent forced on us through curriculum.

Hi 👋 My biggest challenge as a HS Mum for high school is English!! Do you find Euka is completely comprehensive to cover all of English? It doesn't look like much...
I am finding it to be enough for grade 10, I only have access to grade 10 on the platform so I am unsure what the other grades look like.

Would you be so gentile to share the Maths on line program you are using? Thank you very much!
We use Maths Online. We have used that program since we began homeschooling 6 years ago and we love it
@@Mariekalake Thank you very much!!

Hello, how many hours a day does it usually take to do the program?
How many hours it takes to complete the program is really up to you. It will depend how fast or slow your child completes their work and how many subjects they are completing in the program.
@@Mariekalakehow many hours does it take your child to complete per day?
Does the weeks for each term correspond with the "school terms" or can you go at your own pace.
You can go at your own pace. They are organized into 4 ten week terms but when you start and finish is totally up to you

Using Euka is very easy, all the work is set out for you so there is really no planning at all.
@@Mariekalake tks for that. So how do you find the ease of use of the portal and accessing help and support when needed?
I would never allow my child to read the boy and the striped pyjamas. Let alone in yr8. Its way too horrific of a story. This is why going with mainstream things can be challenging and finding age appropriate books that arent forced on us through curriculum.
Just to clarify this is for year 10, grade 8 would have a different text to read
If we shy away from history we are doomed to repeat it. My 6yr old knows this story, it’s very appropriate for year 10.
