Honestly, I feel you when it comes to that the bookcommunity has changed my reading. I'm not lucky enough to have my "day job" as it were, be all about books. But, this year especially, I've seen my reading change so much. It's like I have to read a book a day or I'm not doing it right. Which, honestly, that's doing it the wrong way. I love reading, always have and hopefully always will, but I definitely need to sort of take a step back with it and just read whatever whenever and not be too bothered with other people's reading.
It’s so reassuring to hear that loads of people are having the same experience as me! I feel like i need to make it a goal for 2023 to enjoy my hobbies without added pressure or comparison! 🥰🥰🥰
i can definitely relate to the christmas blues ... i always used to feel obliged to try and "get in the mood" but honestly it just doesn't work that way if you're basically forcing yourself to enjoy things you just don't like (like christmas music lol i relate) instead what i've been trying to do these past few years is not to focus on the typical christmas shenanigans but instead on the feelings of love i get from spending time with family & friends 🤍
its nice to see you talking about art, you can see how excited and passionate you are about it. I can't wait to see what comes next in your videos, honestly when I sub to a channel I do so for the person not just the bookish content, I too love the art side of UA-cam, its so calming and relaxing, I've never been any good at art but I do sketch, colour and watercolour sometimes, its a nice break from screens and I always feel better for it and I hope it brings that same peace for you and 60 books a year is great and even if you read one book, thats still great, you read a book, a book shouldn't be a number on a goodreads goal or a reading vlog total, a book is an experience and thats one thing that books have lost because of book tube and booktok, reading should be enjoyed and savoured and restful and I think its wonderful that you're taking that back for yourself 💕
Everything you said !!!! A book IS an experience to be savoured and not a number! and yay I’m so glad that you like the art stuff too. Whatever I talk about from now on will hopefully be enjoyable to watch, I’m literally vlogging right now and still talking about books 🥺🥺🤍
i definitely agree that people who are keyed into booktube read way more than someone who isn't and it's so weird that it feels like theres no in-between with the number of books read between the two. it feels like people are either reading 50 books or 5 a year. i also feel that my enjoyment of reading has diminished because i personally feel pressured to read more to keep up with everyone and so a lot of times when i'm reading, i'm just thinking about how much i want to finish the book so i can pick another one up. and i'm not even a content creator! i can't imagine how that must feel as someone in your position. you're definitely not alone as i'm also hoping to be more present and mindful with my reading next year. will continue to support you no matter how many books you read. your content is valuable in who you are as a person and what you think, not just in the number of books you read. taking care of your mental and physical health is the most important! love u kat 🤍
love you and appreciate you!!!!!!! 🤍 I completely agree that there's a pressure to keep up with everyone else rather than just focusing on making reading enjoyable! and what you said about thinking about finishing your current read to get onto the next EXACTLY I realise I'm rarely fully present in the book I'm reading at the time because I'm thinking about reading as a whole rather than giving each book the attention they deserve, what is that about??!!
I try to appreciate every season but winter can be hard. Esp as you said, you come out of work and it's DARK. Make any video you want even if it's not about books. Or even just a 10 min reading vlog 🤷♀️💜 We just like seeing you!
Thank you Julie!! The winter is so unforgiving on our mental health, but I know I’ll come out of it! Thank you so much for your support I’ll definitely be filming some more videos and vlogs when I’m feeling better 🥰🥰🥰
I absolutely agree with everything you said about the book community preferring quantity. I don't even read 60 books a year...sometimes it is really discouraging! It can suck the joy out of reading a lot when you feel like you need to compare yourself to other readers. I've been trying to get better about not doing that...easier said than done though. I'm so glad you're back and I hope things get better for you
It’s totally easier said than done! But we’ve got thissss 🤍 we’ll enjoy reading way more in the long term if we make these small changes now 🥰 thank you for your comment!
Your art!!! Are you kidding me??? Painting animals is so difficult and you nailed it. Wow they're so beautiful, I hope you show off more.of your art in the future
thank you for being so honest & open with us!! ❤ the pressure of booktube & the book community can be so hard, always keeping up with the new releases and everyone else's pace - its even stressful as a viewer, so i cant imagine how it is as a creator! i hope you can find some distance from the pressure - by not setting reading goals, no tbrs, only reading whatever and whenever you feel like it 💕 we will be here to enjoy any content you make, even if its less book content!
I’m sorry you’ve been feeling down:(. So many things you spoke about when it comes to the book community I also feel similarly about. I also have a book related job and book Instagram and that pressure to post often and read tons of books to recommend is a lot! This year I’ve been trying to catch myself, take a step back, and go at my own pace so I enjoy my reading time. I hope you start to feel better soon❤️✨
thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 💗 it seems like a lot of us are feeling the same and are going to prioritise enjoying our reading rather than putting too much pressure on it xx
also crying!!! meeting you was such a special day, and especially that it was my 30th birthday. i really cherish it and all the memories we made 🥺 i'm so overjoyed that we were able to go to the v&a exhibit together and that it reignited your love for art and creation! can't wait to see where this journey takes you 🤍🤍🤍
I feel very similar to you just as a general watcher of book tube especially feeling the pressure to read so many books! I can’t even imagine how hard it must be as a creator! 💕
totally agree with everything you said and so proud of you for this entire video and for being brave enough to share how you’re feeling!! love you lots and excited for all the content you’re excited for hehe 🥰💖
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. We love you and support you in every way.sending you so much love. Just know your channel is your space to dowhatever, we will be here with you through it all. Kisses xx
I hit my 2022 goal of 55 books. My goal for 2023 is 60 books. It’s a challenge because I read some big fat books and also Shakespeare. That is plenty for me.

@@bambinakatarina definitely! I feel that, even though we KNOW these things, we still need to remind ourselves of it every now and again.
