  • (1 Jun 2018) ADAM LAMBERT OFFERS ADVICE AT LGBT YOUTH CENTRE IN LONDON
Adam Lambert says there is "so much more awareness" today around topics that concern the LGBT community.
The American pop star was speaking to the Associated Press in London on Thursday (31 MAY 2018) at the Mosaic LGBT Youth Centre, where he discussed homophobia and his own experiences as a gay man.
"I had the opportunity to speak with a group of young people about all things queer and the movement and where we're at today, where we were about 10 years ago and my experience growing up and then the best part for me was getting to talk to them ask questions and hear their stories," explained Lambert.
The 36-year-old said he most enjoyed the Q and A segment of the event.
"I learned a lot. Some smart kids in there," he said. "There's more education there's more conversation. And I think that that's evident in a room like this today. The people that I spoke to were very, very wise and articulate for their age. And I think that that's sort of a taste of the future that we are moving forward and we are growing and evolving and young people are learning and they're learning earlier and they have more available to them. It's great."
Lambert, who shot to fame in 2009 after finishing as runner-up on "American Idol," has been busy writing some material.
"I'm writing about a lot of different things. I mean I guess, simply I'm just writing about my experience and my point of view. I've written some songs that are definitely social commentary. I've written some songs that are personal in my longing and search for intimacy and understanding what intimacy is and then I've written some weird, left of center party jams as well that are bizarre and whimsical and sort of psychedelic and, yeah, written about everything."
He's also about to head back out on the road as the frontman of rock legends Queen.
"Yeah, we are just about to start another leg of the Queen tour. This is our final leg of like a four-part tour that we've been doing over this past year and we already did play Europe and the U.K. and we're back because they couldn't get enough."
Queen kick off the next leg of their tour in Madrid on June 9.
