You have to love the Dexter blood splatter pattern on the mask though. 😀

I was confused why this KF94 was made in China since it is a South Korean standard for masks, but I did just read that they sometimes can be made in China. Though those made in China are much more likely to be counterfeit. In Korea they are strictly regulated so I think I will definitely stick to buying ones made in South Korea.

Nice. “Let’s see if it’s as good as a 3M Aura” kinda reminds me of “Will it Blend?”.
I wrote a list of 10 requests but the comment got automatically removed. Maybe the pile of brand names and numbers looked like spam. I’ll try to post requests separately:
    1. A typical Aura but combined with the HCW trick of using 1 inch slice of a Mepilex Lite 284190 on the nose (that prevents skin breakdown on nose). My wife used these on long shifts but after these videos we realized that we’ve never seen any leakage data on that.
    2. Drager 1920FFP2 (still waiting, day 25 shipping from Germany). Armbrust guy said the nosewire is “better than Aura” and my credit card was out before the sentence was finished.
    3. The 3M Brazil Black Aura 9310+BR Azul (hard to get). Still can’t find a site that has them but some guy on twitter got them provided to him by Brazilian govt.

      4. Aura 9330+ (the one on Ebay from Poland, possibly fake?)
      5. Aura 9210+ (head straps are tighter than other Auras, apparently)
      6. Aura plus Fix The Mask 😂
      7. FloMask adult version (update: looks like it's not an Aura challenger)
      8. Envomask and Envomask after a filter change
      9. The bigger 3M Elastomeric filter cartridges 60924 for healthcare or whatever’s around. 60926, 60921 would be interesting.
      10. For chits and giggles, It would be funny to see how a firefighter SCBA does on tank air. Hypothetically, it should be completely off the scale since nothing’s being filtered.

Neat list of things to test :-)
I've found if I include any web links my UA-cam comments get auto deleted by UA-cam, not sure if your comment had any since UA-cam doesn't even tell me if it auto deletes comments. I was commenting on a video about ReadiMasks once and it was really frustrating to have a post I spent time writing disappear without warning, and no way to recover what I wrote. Sorry you had something similar happen, too.

      1) I don't have any Mepilex, but I do have some Moleskin and some silicone "scar tape" I've been meaning to try on the same basis.
      2) I just tested the Drager in my last video - the nose wire is not better than an Aura, unfortunately. Both are solid metal. The Aura nose wire is over 1mm thick. The Drager nose wire is about .33mm thick. However, they are widths likely different alloys, so the thickness is not the entirely of the story. I didn't get Aura fit, but it's not a bad mask
The nose wires for all masks tend to be fairly short so I've not figured out a good way to measure stiffness because doing so would probably take putting the wire across two pillars, putting a calibrated weight in the middle and measuring the deflection. The range of stiffness is so great I'd expect some to just fall right through the testing rig under the load of the weight, and others might no deflect enough to be reliably measured - I used to have a device for doing this for target arrows, but we used 26" of distance and a 1.94 pound weight, so I don't have anything remotely appropriate for an 80cm nose wire.
      3) It would be neat if 3M made a black Aura - not sure why 3M is being such a stick in the mud about making a mask that everyone wants.

      2) Haven't seen that one yet. Any price or feature advantage that would make it appealing?
      3) I'm using one now, and the straps do seem to keep tension better than the 9205+ - I'm going test with a pull scale after wearing for a few days to quantify the difference, but I don't have the industrial continuous motion tension tester that would be needed to give truly accurate results - I'm sure 3M has data from such devices and I wish they'd share that will us so we don't have to buy all the masks to find out.
      6) Pretty sure I've done Aura plus Fix the Mask at some point - I'd have to look through the videos to find it.
      7) I love that flo mask works for so many people. With my high nose bridge, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be one of those people, so I haven't be able to justify spending $90 to find out. Otherwise I'd love to test it.
      8) Same with Envomask, which, like FloMask, is a 1/4 mask that fits on the front of the face - not may favorite fit.
      9) The 60924 are chemical filters plus a P100, so the test results would really be entirely about mask fit, dependent on the mask and the subjects face rather than the filter. P100s have to filter 99.97% of the most penetrating particle size at a flow rate of 85L per minute, and are essentially assume to be 100% effective for mask fit testing purposes - it's why elastomerics are fitted with P100s for fit testing, and you put your N95s or chemical only or what ever back on afterwards if you weren't using P100s.
      10) SCBAs are fit tested a couple of different ways, including using a precision pressure sensor to look for leak, as well as adapting them for negative pressure use for PortaCount testing - it's not something I've looked into so I don't know the details.

Thank you for these videos! One question: In this video you state that a 314 Fit Factor corresponds with 0.032% total inward leak -- how do you calculate that? I ask because I noticed in your ElastoMask Pro Review Part 1 video, the Fit Factor was listed as 389 with a 0.26% total inward leak. I would've expected the higher the fit factor, the lower the % inward leak, but this does not appear to be the case. Could you please explain who you arrived at those percentages? Also, is there any way someone could measure their masks' fit factors without purchasing one of those expensive PortaCount contraptions?

1 / fit factor = total inward leak.
      A fit factor of 100 is a TIL of .01, or 1%. A FF of 200 is a TIL of .005, or .5%
The only way to accurately quantify your fit factor is a quantitative test, typically a PortaCount test. Some companies will fit test individuals. Unfortunately, many fit testing companies will only test medical workers or other people needing testing for required workplace respirator usage. You'd have to call around your local area to find out.
Some companies rent out PortaCounts, but not all will rent to individuals. And rentals are priced for industrial users and are fairly expensive - I've seen $200-300 a day, not including shipping.

@@gerardhughes Thank you for the info! That makes sense. Looks like 0.032% must've been a typo and was meant to be 0.32% on the other video. So 0.32% vs 0.26% for respective fit factors of 314 and 389 jives with what would be expected. Thanks again for the very informative videos!
