I haven't watched a Wisehat video in so long I forgot how good you are at expressing yourself in these reviews. I hope you never lose the urge to create as I really enjoy watching your reviews and how you grow with them.
I've never heard of Blankets or read it before, but from this video honestly I think I relate to the artist a lot. It seems like a really well written story
This is nice. Critique is all well and fine, but I do like finding analysis where people love the work they're discussing and it was meaningful to them. It's the best part of art.
havent finished your video yet but, I will say that i love your style of writing and its really clear and straightforward while also drawing one into the video and its topic!
I remember when I 1st picked up this book from my high schools library give away box, and I was totally enamored w the art style but the writing blew me away more!! it was the 1st time that I ever felt seen in my struggles of religion, art and sexuality. now I don’t really have too much in common w Craig Thomas since our backgrounds are pretty different but for a moment it felt like someone else was seeing the things i saw; like for a minute I was not alone in what I was dealing with so it was pretty nice
@wisehat you cited that the dad was having an affair, beat his child, the child was bullied and then the child came to worship a girl in his life, then decided that he didn't have the capacity for love and cut off their friendship, which is a fairly normal childhood to have where I live, and that this is all somehow God's fault. Sounds exactly like an "Ehrm ackchewally" to me.
@@roflchiefmcjoflchief1791 craigs dad wasnt having an affair huhh and youre acting like him not being religious is the cause for his ambiguity, he comes to these realizations parallel to the rest of his life through a combination of questioning the belief and the inability to feel comfortable is religious spaces
@wisehat I never said him not being religious was the cause of his ambiguity, don't put words in my mouth. If people were mean to this kid, how is that God's fault?

So, from what im hearing
"Ehrm, ackchewally, God isnt real because my childhood sucked"
you come to that conclusion if you have half a brain
