After hearing every track, this one is definitely my favorite off the new album.
Everyone should just be happy CKY are still going. CIG is a genius just like Deron. This new album rocks. I've been in bands that have broken because of relationships with band members. It happens and often times it can't be fixed.
It's a weird experience when you grow up and change and one of your favorite bands does the same thing. CKY will always make me think of my youth, growing up and going to high school. Now that I'm an adult, CKY is now older and more mature too and I like their new groove.
Yet again, Chad Ginsberg (& the boys) DO NOT disappoint!! Love it
The lyrics of this could almost serve as a metaphor for what's happened to Bam.
I cannot stop singing this song in my head!!! Sounds very classic Pantera'ish and the first/second solos and definitely Zakk Wykde tones... Sounds so fucking good!!!! \m/

The AACBF and Carver City sound lies in 96 Bitter Beings, and the Volume 1./IDR sound lies in this CKY. That being said, I prefer this.

this one is catchy I'll give Chad that. his production and use of synths was always a great compliment to derons songwriting. to bad Chad couldn't keep his ego in check. Musically those two were like peanut butter and jelly.

I can't even lie. I like this song. This is coming from someone who didnt like days or replaceable. This song sounds like a song cky (deron) would actually write (when he was good of course). The lyrics arent very cky but the vocals are fine and the riff is def cky

At least you're honest to not say that Deron didn't shit gold throughout his entire career. I don't listen to Carver City that much, there's some good songs, but a lot of it isn't very unique. Too much of the riffs sound similar and he wasn't very adventurous with the song structures. He made it more layered, which is kinda cool, but there's only so much you can do when every song starts out with a tremolo riff and then goes into a slow paced box pattern riff. He really doesn't try anything new on the guitar when it comes to CKY.
I'm actually someone who'd prefer if CKY had a good hint at it sounding like CKY but trying something new. In fact, I don't mind if there's some songs that don't even sound like CKY. I mean, look at volume 1, even IDR to some extent had exploration that kept the songs sounding really unique from one another.
I don't listen to An Answer... much. Carver City was okay. There are some fantastic songs (Doubled Up On Trauma rocks) but some real duds. Inconsistent affair... not bad, not good enough IMO. I agree with your comment. I respect Deron (IDR is still a masterpiece, perfect album) but he hasn't been 100% consistent like he believes he has.
Vo Devil You're being realistic which is all I want to see out of people. I don't doubt that people genuinely like aacbf and carver city just as much as the first two albums, but if you look deeper, you can obviously see the songwriting has suffered to where the songs no longer stand out from one another. it makes aacbf-carver city sound repetitive to me. Even IDR, while establishing full point the "signature cky sound" stepped out the box with songs to keep it super unique, but aacbf and carver city relies on too much of the same formula in songs.
Deron wrote killer stuff, but something isn't unique if you run it into the ground.

Gave this album an honest attempt... really did try...but I got nothing from it. Deron was the soul of this band. I realize now , more than ever, I liked this band bc of his riffs and his vision. This is just run-of-the-mill-factory-stock rock.

This doesn't sound like CKY, it sounds like anything you'd hear by any anonymous band on any "modern rock" radio station across the country.. It's not bad though, this is the best I've heard from the "new" CKY... BUT WHY CALL YOUR BAND THAT?!?! When it's not.
