A really enjoyable video of a simple, compact yet highly effective layout. Great weathering and realistic running. The builder obviously really enjoys running his trains and that's great to see. Thanks very much for sharing. BTW, the layout's name is pronounced "Haven't a Clue"!!!
Hello Keith, I just came over on the back of one of your kind comments, only to find you have modeled my old home town railway!! We also both have a 6X4 layout. Love the running, great lighting and top narration. Just subbed. Cheers Mike
Hi Mike, its interesting how good videoing can make a layout look larger than it is....I had no idea your layout was the same size as mine, Cheers Keith
I really enjoyed your video, and your narration brought it to life. Wonderful to see the high level of detail achievable on a roundy-roundy which, let's face it, are good fun. Best of both worlds. Many thanks.
Thanks Andrew for your kind comments. I agree that a roundy-roundy is indeed the best of both worlds. I have had more fun with this layout than any of my previous end to end ones. Sometimes you just want to watch trains go by........Keith
A small but very convincing railway that I thought was beautifully modelled. Not too many "Southern" railways around so a pleasure to watch. I used to be the fireman on Terriers and always marvelled that despite their age they were great to fire. Got to get used to them but they are sure worth the effort. Thankyou.
Although being a Yorkshireman, I am very familiar with the area being modelled. I was a Royal Navy radio operator and our training establishment was HMS Mercury, situated a short distance from Petersfield. Havant, East Meon, Clanfield and of course Pompey were regular stomping grounds. A joy to see the locos running and listen to your commentary. Regards Ian.
Thanks Ian and apologies for only just getting round to replying....one of my favourite spots is Hayling Island itself...just a pity no trains run there anymore, Regards Keith
What a charming 6x4! Your level of stock weathering is spot on while the scenics are wonderfully done wiith correct pattern SR platform lamps. In fact, the only minor criticism is the number of SPADs - maybe you might consider signal control using simple push rods from the baseboard edge? Just a thought. You have achieved exactly the feel I am aiming for with my project Polbetherick in N gauge, based on the North Cornwall line of the LSWR/SR.
Thanks again for your comments, they are much appreciated. As for SPADs I'm afraid that working signals are a step too far for me at the moment....one day perhaps. I have enough trouble setting the points and track section switches without also worrying about signals as well! The layout has other guises as well as the Southern Region in Hampshire....at present it is set up as Parstiche on the Cornwall mainline...all videoed and on You Tube, Regards Keith
Very nice indeed. You have done a lovely job with the scenery, and your locos run smoothly. Like you, I find the Hornby 2 BIL to be a great runner and excellent model. I just wish they had been supplied with lighting. May I suggest the addition of the third rail to the track to enhance the appearance if running EMUs?
Thanks Mervyn for your kind comments. By changing the buildings every so often my layout has different locations. At the moment it is set up as a Cornish mainline junction so the third rail would not be appropriate, Regards Keith
Thanks Dave...but I'm afraid you have lost your bet.....for the moment anyway. The rear of the layout is currently just storage sidings but who knows?..... one day perhaps, Regards Keith
Lovely layout, like the weathered stock, and found it inspirational. Amazing what you can model within the constraints of 6 x 4 baseboard. Nice scenics too.
Convincing representation of a SR station. You'll have to get on with adding the conductor rail on at least one line to add the final touch to a charming layout. Thanks for uploading.
Thanks Allen for your kind comments. The buildings on the layout are removable so that I can represent different periods and locations...at present it is "Parstiche" which is set in Cornwall in the 1970's (see videos on this channel)....hence no conductor rails.. Keith.
I have tried to keep the whole layout uncluttered which I think is essential in a small space. Your loft layout on the other hand looks huge by comparison so plenty of scope for scenery, Keith
wonderful layout and incredible transformation from the original....i have a small 4 foot by 2.5 foot layout using triang super 4 track....really is pushing size to the limit....but fun...
Thanks Alan, the layout has now temporarily changed its identity and is now a Cornish layout set in 1979! Look up video titled "Parstiche", cheers Keith
nicely done..and given the space limitations it looks very satisfying. I love a layout that sticks to it's geographical location and time period. Nice stock too but then I've been a Southern region fan since the 1960's
Hi we've been having a few similar issues with the Bachmann N class, worth a try adding a bit of weight in tender, silicone spray in the housing the coupling runs in and loosen the coupling retaining plate to make the slot considerably larger on the tender end, oh and check the tender wheels back to back measurements. Nice little layout, to think I had a 6x4 over my bed over 50 years ago and it wasn't a patch on what you've achieved. Well done
Thanks for your kind comments and the advice regarding the N class. I will try some or all of the suggestions just as soon as I have stopped playing trains - which may well be a while yet as although the layout is small it does give me a lot of fun.
A small layout that looks big ! A great achievement ! Perfect backdrop and perfect trainspeeds.
Thanks very much for your kind comments, Regards Keith
A layout that oozes charm and operates convincingly.
Thanks Peter, glad you liked it, Regards Keith
Best 6x4 layout I've seen.
Thanks very much, your comment is much appreciated, Keith
Love the name of your lay-out but some how I think you do...brilliant
Thanks Paul for your kind comments, Keith
It is so good to see what can be achieved in such a tiny space. Congrats!
Thanks Stefan, glad you enjoyed it, Regards Keith
Very nicely done. You have achieved a lot in the very limited space without making it look too cramped or crowded.
Thanks Jeffrey, I have tried to follow the "less is more" mantra....besides it is less work! Regards, Keith

What a delightful little layout.

Thanks Martin. The Terriers were always my favourite small tank loco and I have fond memories of seeing them and riding behind them on the K&ESR.
@@KV12543 That was where I fired them. I wonder if you ever travelled behind me - so to speak. Great memories.
Living in the Havant area, this was brilliant.
Thanks Tony, glad you enjoyed it, Regards Keith

What a beautiful layout, love the stock and weathered locomotives 👍
Thanks very much...I notice from your videos that you to are a fan of weathering, Regards Keith
Superb
A beautiful layout with a perfect concept . Wonderful !
Thanks very much, Keith
I cant get over how it has changed from the original. A very nice job
Thanks very much...it does look a bit better doesn't it.... Keith

This is a great layout which proves you don't need a huge layout to have fun.
Absolutely...and as a bonus the cost of a three coach train is a lot cheaper than one with twelve coaches!
A great atmosphere in a small space. I'm betting there's another layout vehind the backscene.
Thanks Dave...but I'm afraid you have lost your bet.....for the moment anyway. The rear of the layout is currently just storage sidings but who knows?..... one day perhaps, Regards Keith
Thank you for putting this video on youtube, I really enjoyed it. Reminded me of when I was a kid.
Thanks for your kind comments, Keith
Lovely layout, like the weathered stock, and found it inspirational. Amazing what you can model within the constraints of 6 x 4 baseboard. Nice scenics too.
Thanks very much for your kind comments - I rather like it too!
Excellent little layout, great name and well presented.
Thanks Tony, glad you liked the name.
Nice that your trains run like real ones.
Thanks Roderic, I often think too many layouts are spoilt when the trains run too fast and stop abruptly, Regards Keith
Really like this layout and the stock is beautifully weathered.
Thanks - I have recently purchased a new airbrush and compressor and am slowly learning how to use them so gently does it for the time being.
A super running session, just love the Southern.
Thanks....Just watched one of your videos....Impressed by the 3rd rail...very realistic
Love this
Thanks, I rather like it too! Regards Keith

I am inspired by your scenery. Gently done, pure and flowing. I am looking for ideas for my own layout. Great video. Regards Alan in Dover :o)
Thanks for your comments. Rather late in the day I have come to the conclusion that small layouts are more fun.
Keith
Brilliant !!

nicely done..and given the space limitations it looks very satisfying. I love a layout that sticks to it's geographical location and time period. Nice stock too but then I've been a Southern region fan since the 1960's
Thanks for your kind comment....being born in Kent I am very familiar with green trains!

Very good - but where do they go / come from the 2 tunnels??? 🤔🚂🚂🚂
There is a fiddle yard behind the backscene....have a look at one of my earlier videos and you will see what it is like, cheers, Keith.
