- Batting in India (My first bat. Full net - unedited)
This is a video of our director Tom Scollay having his first bat in India during his trip to the Karnataka Institute of Cricket in May 2018. He wore a microphone to talk through what he was thinking at the time and what he thought the bowlers were going to bowl.

Tom Scollay? Wow, the bloke went on to become a world class gun batsman on my cricket captain 2012
Really? Was I actually on the game?
Yeah! Down as a Batsman, but bowled some tidy off spin when needed!
I didn't play any first-class games mate. Where did you get that info from? I played 10 List A matches and 6 T20's....
Serat Bhuiyan probably dropped, not because he might be bad but you must remember that pros are also all ridiculously good
You should play for Australia so they can finally play spin well
haha I think they've got me covered mate. The standard of spinners they face is a little better.
tobin saneesh Dude Australia almost beat you guys last time
@@nyorm6696 yeah that game in pune was like the only game any team won against India at home. in the last 10 series.
And England won the test
@@nyorm6696 lmao we guys beat you in 2017 2018 and 2020-21
3:27 that guy fell because he never bowled to a white guy before. Wanted to crack you open with his delivery but failed. Feeling sad on his behalf.
U batted like an professional batsman... i think u should continue this.. for.. ur country 😊😊😊
“What shot”😂😂 You know you’re in decent nick if you’re asking for lads to tell you shots
I have a tips for u mate when u want to hit a six don't think boundaries is your goal always your goal is to hit a six in stands if u try this every time you hit the ball ball easily cross the boundary
Ok mate, will keep that in mind next time! Thanks for the advice

Good batting bro
Thanks mate 👊🏻
Was waiting for this Thanks for the upload
No worries mate!
Noticed is pads are on the wrong leg
No it depends on u
You should premeditate less, seems like you do a lot.
By the way great batting skills.
You resemble MSD❤️ somewhat
Dabu same thoughts
Oh KIOC Bangalore
His voice is like abd.
you don't sweep??
I have a tips for you...
Your bat should be near to body in your stance..
And your front shoulder should be facing towards the bowler.
Maybe those tips would improve your batting
Navid Tahsin who the fuck are you to give a ex middlesex ccc player tips?
The shoulder should also face the ball, with your head almost making contact with your shoulder. That keeps everything in line and promotes side-on play.
90 %, if you are humble, any tip that is given to you is taken as almost a blessing. You can be a 5 year old homeless kid, or Sachin Tendulkar, whoever you are, if you give a good tip, a good tip will stay good tip.
Stop with the criticism solely based on one’s position in the world, and start respecting everyone.
Life of Tennis Right. Why don't you go and tell virat kohli that rather than moving his back foot back to face the short ball he should move it back and across? There's a reason why they are professionals and you aren't. There's no need to comment "maybe you're batting will improve" if you're a nobody in the world of cricket and try to come up with useless "tips"
90 %, look mate, technique is technique. Technique is essentially a blank white solid cube. It’s your decision whether you want this blank white cube to stay as it is, or whether you want to put vibrant colours to it, change it’s shape to something irregular, etc.
Technique is technique. People like Sangakkara, Tendulkar try to keep that white cube as it is as much as possible. There’s also a reason that some players don’t reach international level. The same players that have gotten limitless opportunities.
Whereas we, we may not have had as many opportunities, we may have had many obstacles that would’ve come in our way. We may have had to capability, drive, hunger, etc, but may not have gotten that opportunity.
Anyone, no matter how big or small, is entitled to give a tip that they think is useful. This played can follow it if he wants to, he can decide whether he thinks the tip will help him or not, but the advisor equally has a right to give tips. Tips are given because has the belief that someone can still do better. After all, the original commenter was only trying to help.
If you didn’t like the advise, then argue with technical answers, not “who do you think you are?”
Even I, whom is a 14 year old opening batsman for a 3rd XI district premiere team, have come across some of the most outlandish tips from people that I’m pretty sure haven’t even wore proper cricket equipment, but I respect the fact that they tried to help me.
All these premeditation comments if your good enough you can it's more having the ability to not play the shot if your not to the pitch of the ball the best players in the world premeditate and can read the bowler
Who were those people in Australian kits?
One of our mentors. A guy called Andrew Walton who is a Cricket Australia level 3 coach...
Was that Irfan Sait who walked by in the start of the video at 0:47? :)
Vinod Kumar P V yes.... You are right. It was Irfan sir
He bats like Faf du plessi
In India you will face spin
Am I the only one who noticed that his pads were on the wrong way around
Yathin Jaype this is the right way of wearing the pads
Cricketnar 18 we're taught that it's the other way around because when we run the straps might get caught, causing you to trip
Bro watch virat kohli he also wear pads like that
Cricketnar 18 oh, thanks for the info, but the tripping over comes from experience 😂
Yeah ik I wear the pads so the extra strap is facing out not in.
Isn't he tapping too much ?
Just a question , noticed some balls you pre-meditated going over the top or stepping out before the ball is delivered. Conventional wisdom is always “play the ball on its merit”. So I’m just curious as to why you chose some balls to premeditate coming down the track, cheers.
ishaan kapoor by doing that he doesn't let the bowler dominate, unsettles his length and is on the driving seat. The best players of spin never let the bowler dominate.
P.S:I said this based on what I know and what I've seen
ishaan kapoor facing spin is a lot of premeditation. You have to look to be positive
He does that a lot against the spin bowlers. Against spin generally you're going to need to be playing forward so a trigger putting weight forward on the front foot helps to either get forward quicker or get down faster to sweep and also gives you a good position to rock back quick onto the back foot too. Look at most international players, they'll sit on the balls of their feet against pace but guys who knows how to play spin use the slower run up and pace of spin bowlers to get into position quicker.
Is committing for a shot early good?
It depends on your footwork
Carom ball what are u mad
Your technique is similar to ABD's.
Subhas Sukumar dont be dumb
True
So poor bowling.
3rd class net Bowlers
Hands all over the place. Doesn’t really hit through the ball. Balance off at times.
thanks for the feedback, i'll work on those things, if only I had been coached by you at a younger age
Kush Academy and you are?
Isn't he tapping too much ?
