- The number system is very useful for training your ears to recognize harmonic patterns. This opens the door to being able to understand music regardless of key signature, improvise ideas and just have a better general awareness of musical ideas and possibilities.

Could have sworn that II-V-I-VI was the progression to Gravity by Sara Bareilles, but turns out I was way off. You can sing it to that progression though and it fits for the first line.
