Beautiful video showcasing Japanese traditions during New Years. Thank you for sharing us Dean your lovely family. Never had the opportunity to have that experience yet and would love to! Hoping that this traditions will last longer as I rarely hear Japanese friends celebrating this way ❤❤❤
It's the last day of January, but what the heck, HAPPY NEW YEAR people 😆 I was very lucky to have spent the turn of the year in the way I did, and I hope I do a decent job of sharing it. Looking forward to making lots more videos this year! Any requests? 😉
Happy New Year to you and your family Dean! The mochi making machine was very cool. I always loved New Year's meal at my grandparents and love ozoni 😋. All the best for 2022!👍
Wow, Dean, to have a special character like Keiji in your life, an intrepid spirit, is a really tangible connection to being human. You are so nurturing. We saw you on NHK recently and always pay special attention.
Thanks Etherdog! I am lucky to have my little companion to make these and watch out for Tao coming soon. He's got bags of energy ha ha! Hopefully I'll be able to make more with NHK soon, too. It's so difficult with COVID at this time to make new productions.
this was confusing for me and prolly always will be but i came here to see how you and your Family are doing and by all accounts, you are doing great. Continue and prosper.
Happy New Year to you and your family! I remember the mochi making both ways as as a kid growing up. I also remember my mother spending days preparing all the New Years dishes. Thanks for the memories!
Great video. When I was a child, a couple of families got together and made mochi. On the New Year’s day relatives came to visit us. My sister and I got otoshidama. I miss it a lot. Thank you for showing the traditional way of welcoming the new year! I didn’t expect it. I think this is the first time I saw how Japanese people celebrate the New Year’s Day on UA-cam.
Thanks Sumi Craft! I am very lucky to be able to have this experience and thought it might be valuable to share with others. It's a window to real life in Japan.
This is an awesome video. As a primary Japanese teacher in Australia it is also an excellent resource. I absolutely love the use of Japanese and English for our students to pick up on. Thankyou. Back to school next week! Happy New Year to your family.
Happy New Year Kellie! I love the idea that Keiji might be helping share some Japanese phrases in Australia ha ha! Keiji and I almost can't help mixing up the languages anymore ha ha!
Excellent video and I'm excited to see more. All the food looked delicious! I recently was able to eat some mochi. Probably not as good as the one keiji and you ate because mine came from a box. Well, it is better than nothing.
Thanks a lot Marigen! Keiji and I will try to bring more delicious treats as we make our way around Japan 😉...just to inspire and get mouths watering ha ha

@@runAwayJapan What a wonderful boy Keiji is! His English is flawless. He is very lucky to have you as such a great influence on his life.
